Otter Way Cottage is located in Indian Cove just 3/4 mile North of the Alaska Marine Highway Ferry Dock. Enjoy the 180 degree view of the cove populated by resident eagles, herons, porpoises, and more … Fishing, hiking, boating, kayaking, diving, rock-skipping, and barbecue all within a stone's throw of the front door down the private staircase to the beach. One master bedroom and bath upstairs off of the main living space make this hide-away a perfect spot for a couple. A second bedroom is available through the basement with its own entrance, ideal for teenagers or visiting guests (no bathroom downstairs) we refer to this room as The Hobbit Hole as it has low ceilings and a separate entrance from the upstairs. Not suitable for small children sleeping alone .
We've lived in Juneau for 24 years and consider ourselves to be very fortunate to have found such a beautiful environment and community to call home. We both grew up in Oregon and are now splitting time between the 2 places that we call home. We wanted others to experience the beauty and serenity of our cove when we are away.
There truly is no other place like it.
Teresa Busch purchased this house in 2004
We purchased Otter Way Cottage after leasing it for a year. When you wake up every morning and no matter what the weather looks like outside you still feel like you are on vacation we knew that was where we wanted to be. The front of the house is all windows and faces the water. There are days you feel like you are watching a nature channel through the windows. With porpoises that play in the cove, eagles, herons, otters and whales you won't want to leave the cove.
The million dollar view, the convenient location and the quiet neighborhood will make you fall in love with Indian Cove. Rent a Kayak 5 minutes down the road at Auke Bay Kayak Rentals and paddle out to Indian Island that sits right in front of the Cottage.
Build a bonfire in the fire pit and look for the Aurora. Bar-B-Q on the expansive deck and wait for the tide to go out then walk across the land bridge to the little island and watch the sunset. So many things to enjoy.
Wow this is definitely no little fishing cabin. Beautiful and modern and the owner has done a fantastic job of stocking the place with anything one could possibly need +very well organized. Thank you for an amazing stay!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There is an amazing view from a very comfortable and beautifully furnished cottage with a well-stocked kitchen for those who like to cook on vacation, and a great private beach that my 3-year-old daughter just loved exploring. We had several pleasant evenings on the beach with a fire, which is always fun. The owner is very nice and is easily reached if you have any questions or concerns. So many positive things to say, but only one negative: the downstairs bedroom. It is only accessible from the outside (which is a pain because it's almost always raining in Juneau), there is very low overhead clearance (6 ft), and it smells musty down there. The cottage is best used as a 1 bedroom, so if you have a family with young kids, it's best to just have them sleep in the living room instead of downstairs. Even with the odd bedroom set-up, we'd go back in a heartbeat. We loved our week-long vacation there and wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks!
I had a wonderful time staying at your property. The view was amazing, the house was clean and fully stocked. I enjoyed fishing from the shore for Monkfish and Sculpin. The house was close to grocery store and Juneau. Wonderful property, we saw a family of dolphins swimming in the bay very close to the house in the evening hours.
The cottage is absolutely wonderful. The view is outstanding and the cottage is clean, well maintained, with a wonderful kitchen and bath that is well stocked, except for refrigerated items. There are so many extras that it would takes pages to list everything. The linens and art work are well above average for a rental. Every morning we had a group of porpoises visiting, what a treat. The beach is nice, but rather rocky for a lot of walking. The view and cabin itself are what makes the rental so fantastic. We would definitely stay here again. Do note, the hobbit room is not really a good second bedroom if you had two parties staying, but Teresa does explain in her notes. Sorry we weren't able to meet her as she was having family emergencies when we were there. Hope to on another visit to Juneau.
Teresa's home is absolutely beautiful! We never turned on the TV because the view of Otter Cove were stunning! The home itself is the most comfortable, nicely decorated, and homey place we've stayed. Everything you could need for cooking is available too. We had a wonderful time and we would highly recommend this Teresa's house to any one. We would love to visit again in the future. Thank you for sharing your awesome space!
I would definitely stay there again. Beautiful view. Saw black bear on beach and many Eagles. Eagle beach is right up the road and glacier is not far. Great location.
