We hope you will consider our little provencial house as your home away from home for your stay in Springfield, MO. Bienvenue!
I love to mix a little bit of old and modern which can be seen in the decor of my home. I have a love for the outdoors and the beauty this world has to offer. I hope that opening up my home to guest stays can help me to fund my aspirations for worldly travel.
Krystal Drysdale purchased this house in 2001
I bought this historical home while I was in college as a little bit of an art project. It was built in 1892 and at the time was in desperate need of some TLC and someone to rescue it from its current state. I worked hard over the course of 5 years to remodel and make improvements with the help of my mother, a local interior designer. My parents now manage rental properties and have kindly agreed to manage my home while I am away. I take pride in making it 'new' again while still maintaining the original charm of the home that first drew me to it. I hope you do too.
Loved the claw foot tub in the upstairs bathroom and the large shower downstairs. House was roomy enough to host my family Christmas party.
My family had a great time staying here for a few days over the Thanksgiving holiday.
Great location - the neighborhood was nice and quiet; and the property is just a few minutes away from Springfield's many downtown attractions.
For an older house, it seems to be well insulated - it kept our thin Texas blood warm.
The kitchen, washer & dryer, and downstairs shower have all been updated.
Plus, the house was well stocked with cookware and a movie library for all ages.
Most importantly, the owner was super-responsive and helpful.
We would stay here again!
Just what we needed for our one-night stay in Springfield: the kids had a bedroom upstairs while my husband and I could relax downstairs. Would stay there again!
We stayed at here for MSU's family weekend 2016. We had high hopes for the home as we travel to Springfield often to visit our daughter and was looking for a place we could continue renting. While the house is absolutly beautiful and stocked with everything you could possibly need, the beds leave something to be desired. The bed in the master needs to be leveled out because the floors slant so much. I understand that comes with a house of that age but it wouldnt take much to level the bed. It was so uncomfortable feeling like your rolling down hill all night. I ended up sleeping on the couch the 2nd night. The matresses in the 2nd bedroom are of poor quality as well. Other then the uncomfortable sleeping we really enjoyed our stay. The clawfoot tub was a treat! The neighborhood is cute and historic. If they ever update the matresses we will be repeat customers for sure!
Have used vrbo successfully many times. A family member with autism often does better staying in a home rather than a hotel when we travel. Not this time! After a 15 hour drive we arrived to find that there was no handrail along the top portion of a very steep staircase which led to the 2 bedrooms. There was a safety issue that prevented us from staying in this home which caused us great difficulty in many ways - finding a hotel at the last minute that would accommodate my little dog proved to be difficult and expensive and needless to say it created tremendous stress on my sister which we had tried very hard to prevent that resulted in her not sleeping - so no one slept much!
I contacted the person in charge of the rental and explained the problem to her and told her we were leaving everything just as we found it not long after we arrived and requested a full refund. She refused. I contacted her again in writing and left a very nice voicemail message explaining that the home does not meet the county code nor the ADA code and asking her to contact me to resolve the issue. She did not bother to respond. I have been forced to contact my credit card company to dispute the charges wasting more time and energy. So, I decided that the home owner has had ample time to try and resolve this matter and chose not to so I will let others know of our terrible experience before they choose whether or not they want to rent this home.
