If your ideal vacation location is one of peace and solitude right at the water's edge, Moonlight Bay is the lakeside home for you!
Situated on a generous, level lot at the end of the Pineroad Drive lakefront community located just north of midpoint on Seneca Lake's west side, your relaxing vacation will get off on the right foot the moment you enter Moonlight Bay's parking area. Situated directly at the home's main entrance, unloading your vehicle will be a snap!
From the main door at the parking area, you will enter Moonlight Bay's open floor-plan living area. Tastefully decorated in contemporary, neutral colors with high ceilings, the living room offers a queen sleeper sofa within a comfortable, relaxed ambiance perfect for catching up on light reading or enjoying a movie on the flat screen Smart TV with DVD player. Through sliding patio doors that lead directly to the level, grassy yard and the waterfront, the living room receives plenty of natural morning light. An enclosed laundry area and half bath are conveniently located just inside the main entrance as well.
The beautiful hardwood flooring found in the living room continues to the dining area, just two steps up from the living room, boasting large windows overlooking the water, where early risers can enjoy their morning cup of coffee while watching those famous Seneca Lake sunrises! Adjacent to the dining area is an updated kitchen with modern appliances, ample cupboard space, and convenient center island, complete with granite countertops throughout and neutral color schemes that compliment the rest of the home.
Down a very short hallway from the dining area you will find the bedrooms and full bath. The first two bedrooms each offer a queen bed and plenty of closet space; each is also equipped with a Smart TV and DVD Player. The third bedroom, overlooking the lake, offers a set of twin bunk beds for the children or young at heart in the group. The full bathroom, with a shower/tub combo, is only a step or two away from each bedroom doorway.
Moonlight Bay's waterfront yard is grassy and level, perfect for lawn games or relaxation in the early day sun; in the afternoon the yard will offer some shade. A recently built permanent 30 foot dock is available for docking your boat, trying your luck at snagging a legendary Seneca Lake trout, or just plain fun - the typical water depth of 5 to 6 feet at the end of the dock makes this a great spot to just jump right in! In the evenings, gather around the fire pit for laughter and s’mores, and if you’re lucky enough to stay during a full moon, watch in wonder as it rises and the water begins to sparkle as brightly as the night stars!
Located in the town of Dundee that still offers a quaint, traditional village Main Street with plenty of interesting shops and storefronts, Moonlight Bay is in the heart of the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, minutes away from Black Rock Speedway, and a quick, 20 minute drive to the city of Watkins Glen and the International Speedway to the south. To accommodate larger groups, the Starlight Cove property is right next door. Isn't it time for your getaway? Start planning yours at Moonlight Bay today!

We loved our week at Moonlight Bay! The photos do not do the kitchen/living room areas justice -- lake views surround you from the many windows and patio doors! The kitchen is modern, full of amenities, amply stocked with dishes and cookware, well thought out. New appliances. The unique wine bar came in handy for our daily stash. The dock and yard area saw lots of use, whether enjoying morning tea/coffee from chairs on the lawn lakeside, grilling up dinner or to lighting a fire at night (we had a colder week so sweatshirts were needed). We were fortunate enough to have good moon views some of the time and got great photos. The water was cold, the kayak (for one and sturdy) saw some use although the photo shows a paddle boat (which would have been nice too). Boat rentals are available from marinas at either end of the lake but their mileage limits do not permit you to travel via boat to the house. That said, we enjoyed a day of exploring the north end of Seneca Lake and the Erie Canal. Internet access was no problem. The TV area had plenty of DVD's but we didn't even delve into them and the TV was barely on. Bring an I Pod since there is a dock for music playing from an I Phone. The bedrooms were adequate in size and there was plenty of closet space with warm blankets in each if needed. The light switches in the main bathroom/shower area closest to the bedrooms are not conveniently located. Bring a night-light to avoid fumbling in the dark. We also found the lighting in the newer second bathroom off the living area to be brighter for shaving and applying makeup. We had no neighbors on either side of us during our stay and the area seems like a mix of permanent and rental properties. It was quiet and peaceful, plenty of parking space, nice area to walk around. We wished there were no bunk beds, but knew going in that was the case, so we worked around it. We hope to return again in the future! We were very happy with this rental and the owners touches in making it so welcoming.
The property is great. It has everything a couple or a family would need to relax and have a great time on the lake. Interior is modern, spacious, comfortable, and clean. Wood floors through most of the house, new appliances (dishwasher, coffee maker, stainless fridge, wine fridge, etc.). Big flatscreen TV with lots of DVDs. Internet was password protected and they did not provide a password. I work in IT and was able to get on without calling them, but even then it was a bit spotty. Lake views from two of the three rooms, one of which has a bunk bed for kids and a basket of toys (came in very helpful with our 2 year old).
Outside was great as well. Well-kept lawn, they provided a kayak, life vest, and paddle which we used quite a bit, they had a really nice gas grill with plenty of extra tanks which we only used once, plenty of patio furniture, umbrella, extra chairs, etc.
No boat launch equipment while we stayed, though it is pictured here. Newer dock with stairs to get in the lake.
Seneca lake is deep, so it remains colder year round. Canandaigua lake is warmer/shallower if that matters to you. The lake is beautiful, you can watch the sunrise or the moon (sun sets behind this property) over the lake. There are far less people out and about on Seneca because it's colder and most are playing on other lakes.
That said though, unfortunately we had people staying next door with way too many people (7-12), boats(3), and jetskis (4) for that property. They even pitched tents (2) between the houses. Kayaking up and down the lake, most properties were quiet/tame with low-key people just relaxing. We just happened to have the back luck of getting stuck with overzealous water sports enthusiasts for neighbors that week.
This was a great spot for a family vacation, even better for couples.. perfect even. Only draw back is you can't pick the people who are renting next to you at the same time.
