This spacious 2BR apartment is located on the second floor of a brownstone that was recently gut renovated using natural, warm materials in a modern yet comfortable way. It has everything you want: open common space, private bedrooms, a Carrera marble bath, guest-controlled heat & A/C as well as a washer/dryer. It features a great open layout with the kitchen open to the dining and living area for communal cooking & sharing. WiFi included, along with flat screen TV, Wii, & Apple TV for streaming audio & video.
The kitchen is fully outfitted: Stainless steel dishwasher, full refrigerator, gas oven, and microwave, as well as small appliances and everything you need to enjoy a home-cooked meal while you travel. We're also steps to the best of Brooklyn's great markets like Trader Joe's and Los Paisanos, among others, not to mention oustandingly delicious dining options.
The bedrooms are private and quiet, facing the backyard, which is graced by singing birds and a huge willow tree that greets you in the morning. Both bedrooms feature an iron bed with a queen Simmons mattress. There is also a comfortable sofa and an Aerobed to accommodate additional guests.
The apartment is on a friendly, quiet block that provides easy parking and is located around the corner from the Bergen St stop on the F train and all that Smith Street offers.
A dog lives in the building but not in this apartment, so I'm pet-friendly...I bought the house to have a yard for Baxter! You'll see him in the photos, but we'll be out of your way during your visit.
Pets are welcome, based on the outcome of a conversation between potential guests and myself!
The full apartment is yours to enjoy.
I'm generally here, as I live in the apartment directly below this one, and am able to help as much as you'd like. If for any reason I'm out of town, I'm easily accessible by phone, text or email.
I absolutely love Brownstone Brooklyn and Boerum Hill is arguably the most convenient of all the brownstone neighborhoods. With the F train around the corner, you're in Manhattan in 10 minutes or less and Midtown in 25. But if you decide to explore the 'hood, you get all of the hip with none of the hassle. Enjoy an urban and urbane environment of boutiques, cafes and tree-lined streets. I find it the perfect place to relax after buzzing around Manhattan!
Please note that extended stays of a 30+ days will include additional cleaning and security fees. That keeps everything in good shape for everyone — thanks for understanding!
I'm a passionate traveler and animal-lover....thrilled dog-mommy to Baxter, a pretty well-behaved Boxer/Pit, although he gets props for his own version of willfulness...but we respect that a lot in this household...within reason!
If I can combine a trip and a U2 concert...well, that's a done deal! I'm a rarity – a Born n'Raised Brooklyn Girl...and I'm happy to provide tips on the popular and arcane! Growing up, going to Broadway shows was a major plus! I'm a holistic healer (Eden Energy Medicine) as well as a Writer/Creative Director in Media with personal focus on spiritual exploration/development. Big fan of delicious bold red wines...and/or a crisp, icy pint.
I love people...the stories they hold, the laughs and insights that are inevitably shared...I kinda run my home like a b'n'b for dear friends and family, so I thought, hey, why not extend the circle (and help pay for my next sabbatical...)
Noreen O'Donnell purchased this apartment in 2007
As I mentioned, I'm a Born n' Raised Brooklyn girl, but I had the opportunity to purchase 'the worst house on the best block' and I did it! I got to do a complete gut on the house and enjoyed a really fulfilling creative project as a result. This part of Brooklyn is just incredible — while it offers a respite from the intensity of Manhattan, it offers its own vibrancy and sophistication, with a delightful blend of neighborly friendliness.
I love that we're steps from the subway for the ease of getting into Manhattan, and I really love that it's not necessary to go there! Amazing shops, museums, galleries and restaurants surround us!
We stayed here for 4 days over Thanksgiving weekend. Great apartment. Very comfortable and has everything you need for cooking a Thanksgiving dinner. (I did bring my own pan to cook the Turkey but that was it). The apartment is in a great location right near the subway and many good restaurants close by. Not far from Trader Joe's if you need to pick up groceries. Plenty of parking since you are on the same street as a school. Very quiet. Noreen is wonderful to work with and she gets back to you quickly if you need anything. We also enjoyed the treats she left for us. Was a very much appreciated since we had been driving all day. We will definitely stay here again.
The apartment was perfect. The location couldn't be beat- off the busy street but so close to everything. We loved how quickly we could be in Manhattan, but didn't feel we needed to go every day, as there was plenty to see (and eat!) in Brooklyn. The kitchen was well-equipped and the beds were comfortable and everything was clean. We felt safe on the streets, even late at night. Noreen was very helpful, letting us drop luggage when we arrived early and allowing us to stay a few hours later on check-out day. Loved the French bakery and Blue Bottle coffee just down the street. Trader Joe's was close, but we liked the local organic markets even better. We walked to the Flea on Saturday- a nice taste of the Fort Greene neighborhood not far away. We highly recommend this apartment!
Our stay at this rental was everything we hoped for - clean, spacious, quiet, and safe. We came with three little kids, and when we arrived at the rental the kids were thrilled to find snacks laid out just for them (perfect after a long trip in from the airport). Communication with the owner was easy, and she thought of everything we would need during our stay. When we next visit Brooklyn, we'll definitely try to stay here again.
El departamento es cómodo y bien equipado en general. Muy bien localizado. Pasamos muy bien, lindas vacaciones.
Una recomendación seria instalar manijas de sujeción en la ducha para facilitar uso a personas mayores o con dificultades.
We were visiting our son and daughter, who live in Brooklyn, during Easter weekend. This Brownstone is on the the second level and was perfect for our family. The apartment was spacious, clean and updated very tastefully. It was the perfect gathering spot for our family and we were able to have meals together as the table seats at least 7 people comfortably. Noreen, the owner, lives in the apartment below and met us to give us the keys. We arrived before check in time on the first day and she allowed us to drop off our bags at the apartment. Noreen was wonderful to work with; very responsive to all my emails and even recommended a car service to take to/from the airport. The location of the apartment is close to so many restaurants and shops, without being directly on a busy street. Additionally it is very close to the subway. We will definitely stay here the next time we visit our kids in Brooklyn; it is so much nicer and more spacious than a hotel room!
The apartment was super-comfortable and the owner was incredibly accessible and welcoming - even providing snacks! The location is really amazing. Everything at your fingertips.
