The house belongs to our family for generations. Located in the heart of the historical center of the city just a few meters from the Castle of Charles V, has been completely restored preserving structural elements and decorations to offer its guests a dive in time and the pleasures of our warm hospitality. The traditional residence Charles V offers 2 bedrooms (for a total of 4 beds), a kitchenette, a bathroom and a large dining room.
Apartment is spacious and clean, nicely renovated leaving the touch of old spirit of the house in master bedroom. Place is airy, simply equipped however original floor mosaic and high ceilings in really spacious master bedroom makes you feel like a king when leaning on the bed. Kitchen is small but ergonomic and equipped with all you need for cooking (including microwave oven). Bathroom is spacious and loked brand new on our arrival ;) There is a small balcony where we managed to eat with our 2 kids quite happily. Option for dining is spacious living/dining room that is central space of the apartment, but we simply prefer fresh salty air on the balcony. Second bedroom is a kind of little loft space upstairs and was great hideaway for kids or anyone in need of siesta…
Located in the heart of centro storico, just a minute from main piazza full of caffes and restaurants and just one block of houses far away from sea side promenade you can enjoy Italian life style in full extent. Despite of its central location, apartment widows and balcony are facing to a narrow street ensuring you privacy and good sleep.
Monopoli is charming city full of life, tiny streets and churches, strolling locals as well as tourists, but with no souvenir shops apart from those selling prodotti tipici you really need to take with you home.
And the last but not least, Pietro speaks perfect english and was very helpful with everything we needed, guided us personally to the apartment and gave advices and tips on places to see. Monopoli is a grate base to visit picturesque towns in its vicinity like cliffy Polignano a Mare, Conversano with its beautiful cathedral, whitewashed Ostuni, looks like ''troll land'' of Alberobello, Locorotondo, Cisterino but there is much more left to see we couldn’t manage during just one week stay.... Not to be forgotten, there are beautiful wild sand beaches along the cost near Pilone where you can stop by on your trips around. We and our little kids (1,5y and 4y) enjoyed staying there very much and would be happy to return anytime in future.
We (a young german couple) stayed at the apartment for 10 days and loved it. Walking around in the old town of Monopoli feels like visiting a movie scenery and the apartment is located in the middle of it. Although we visited Monopoli in october, the weather was still around 20 degrees Celsius, so we could take long (and windy) walks on top of the cliffs along the beautiful seaside with rough sea beneath us. The location of the apartment is just a few steps to the promenade and in calm nights you can even hear the waves crush when lying in bed. The sea can be seen from the roof top terrace that is shared with the other parties of the house but in our case (maybe because it was october) was mostly vacant. The private balcony that can be entered from the bedroom is perfect for having breakfast on sunny mornings or dinner on relaxed evenings. Everything is well equipped so cooking for yourself isn't any problem and there's a minimarket right around the corner. The only negative point about the apartment is that it there are only the balcony doors as windows which don't leave a lot of light in. Especially the gallery that we didn't use as we were only two isn't very inviting and the apartment might be too small to stay there with little children for a longer time.
We (a family of 2 adults and 2 kids of 13 and 8 years) stayed 3 weeks in the Carlo V flat in Monopoli and enjoyed it very much. Based in the centro storico of Monopoli, the sea is easily accessible by foot (3 min), there is a little supermarket 50 meters away and plenty of nice restaurants all around. The area is very safe and gently animated (mostly families). The railway station is reachable in 20 min by foot or with the free shuttle (in the summer), consequently you can easily visit cities like Ostuni, Trani, Bari, Pogliano a Mare or by bus, Albero Bello e le grotte de Castellana. In terms of equipment, the appartement (that was very clean) is furnished as described and offers a nice terrass (luckily in the shadow) where we managed eating the 4 of us. On the roof, there is a big and beautiful common terrass that you can access through tiny stairs. The parents bedroom is large and light full. The room of the kids offers 2 beds. Bathroom and kitchen offer all necessary comfort. And finally, Pietro and his wife Mara are just great people and hosts, plenty of good references and available when needed. Thank you again Pietro and Mara for taking care of us when we had to go to the hospital emergencies, it was so much appreciated!
We'll come back for sure!

Gerne wieder!
My husband, my 3-years-old son and me spent two weeks in this appartment in May/June. It was perfect for the three of us. We loved the old building and enjoyed many meals on the little balcony. (We never spent time on the roof terrace though which can be reached only by a very narrow staircase.) So close to the sea and surrounded by little alleys we very much felt being on vacation.
The kitchen is rather small but sufficiant. Our son preferred sleeping on the couch instead of upstairs in the little room (which has no door).
Pietro and his family were exceptionally nice hosts. They even met us outside the historic center to find us a parking space (as cars are not allowed in the center). Pietro's English is very good.
We enjoyed our stay very much.
Merci Pietro !!!
