About the property

Close to everything you want to do in NOLA, but quiet when you need to chill

This larger studio apartment is one of four units in this unique property that earned it an award for excellence in historical renovation from the city of New Orleans. It includes your own front deck, hardwood floors, stained-glass windows, queen-sized bed, additional futon-sofa that opens into a full-sized bed, and a bonus full-sized loft bed accessed by a ladder/stair; fully equipped kitchen with gas stove, fridge, microwave oven, toaster and coffee-maker; and personal safe large enough for a laptop or camera. Rounding out the features of this property is a locked front gate and ample on-street parking.

This rental is suitable for 2-4 people.

Save money by making breakfast in your room and enjoying it in our courtyard with bubbling fountain and peaceful vibe (also a good area for enjoying your afternoon cold adult beverage). Then head to the FQ or Frenchman St., or the nearby Bywater and Marigny areas, for some of the best food in the world for lunch and/or dinner.

Bicycle rental can be arranged, and is one of the best ways to get around and see New Orleans, and perfect for events such as JazzFest.

Early check-ins and late check-outs can usually be accommodated.

While we prefer to have an open-door policy as to pets, we have had some issues. If you would like to bring your companion animal, PLEASE discuss this with Eshyah first. If arrangements are not made and you arrive with an unexpected pet, you may be refused your room. We ask that younger animals be crated, and that all animals be kept off the furniture, including the beds. It is expected that pets not be disturbing to other guests (by barking endlessly or howling when you leave the room). If your pet is a problem at home, please don't expect us to deal with him or her....I'm just sayin'....

About The Owner

I'm a residential real estate appraiser by trade, and have been lucky enough to be able to do several historical renovations in the French Quarter area. I'm a transplant from California and have been in NOLA for 20 years. I came for the music and never left. I'm also a dog trainer and run an inmate dog-training program at LCIW, the LA Correctional Institute for Women, in St. Gabriel.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2000

Why The Owner chose Louisiana

The best thing about the cottages is their sense of place. When you stay with us, your vacation starts the moment you set your bags down. Our units are repurposed work buildings that are 175 years old. They have been renovated to include all the creature comforts you look for when you vacation, but still are a little funky, and real authentic.

Great location for walking to frenchman street and french quater.

The space was pefect for a quick weekend trip or a longer stay. Felt very safe with the gated court yard. Very easy to walk around to any local spots or to grab the street car. We would definitely come back and stay again.

Amazing location, ample space, cute cottage! Literally walked everywhere during my stay. I come to NOLA 2xs a year & this was my most convenient location so far.

I had a positive experience, and the owner is as sweet as pie! However, the place is extremely dusty, mattress is pretty old and worn, futon looks pretty worn, but still functional, loft mattress is fine, kitchen cabinet doors are dirty, tub doesn't drain properly, there was long blond hair on the blankets, washcloths and towels. There was also pet hair all over the blankets - pretty disgusting. I would recommend laundering everything in the shed (since you'll have access to the washer & dryer) before using anything. The place could really use a deep cleaning, which I'd be happy to do for a discounted stay if I ever return!

Good coffee provided, and a nice patio or courtyard to enjoy it.

Owner's Response: Hmm....she had a positive experience? It doesn't sound like it! Usually people comment on how clean everything is. I will certainly give it a deep cleaning based on Beatrice's experience, and wash the comforter. Of course I wash all the linens between guests (except the comforter), so it's hard to imagine that there would be long blond hair everywhere.....that's a bit confusing, but I appreciate the feedback and will try to do better in the future. And I will have the tub looked at for drainage.

Practically Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in New Orleans! This was our first visit and the cottage made it that much better!

Close to everything, Bourbon St. Frenchman St. Jackson Square...the list goes on. We walked everywhere, loved the location of these wonderful home away cottages!

It had everything we needed, perfect home away. Neighbourhood is really quite too, so was great for a good sleep.

I recommend staying here. I know we will stay again when we return to this wonderful city!

Terrific in the Tremé

  • 5 of 5

This snug little crib was perfect for our long music festival weekend, an easy walk to Armstrong Park, the Sunday second line, the Marigny and French Quarter.

Hidden behind a plain-looking purple facade are two darling Creole cottages painted in Mardi Gras colors. We had to front studio which is plenty of room for two, and could accommodate two more: not mentioned or shown is a bed in the loft above the downstairs bed. The kitchen is stocked with enough pans and gadgets to make whatever simple dish you'd ever want to make on vacation in New Orleans, along with a some condiments and delicious Community coffee. There are plenty of linens, a great shower head, and the wifi never failed us.

The neighborhood is surprisingly quiet, and the locked courtyard made us feel completely safe. The patio is charming, a great place for morning coffee. Eshyah communicated with us every step of the way and made sure we had everything we needed. I hope she has room for me this summer when I come down!

Owner's Response: Wow! Thanks for taking the time to write such a complete (not to mention glowing!) review. I know what I look for in accommodations and try to anticipate what's needed. We're glad you're planning on a return trip!

My husband and I booked a trip for our one-year anniversary. The booking process with Eshyah was so easy! The cottage is well-kept and is in the perfect location for walking to all of the main places around town. You're far enough away to avoid any noise from the main strips, but close enough to where you don't need transportation. We loved Frenchman street and the walk there was a straight-shot. There's a nice convenience store a block away, and we liked to stop in at Buffa's for a nightcap on our walk back to the place. I seriously can't stress enough how awesome the location of this place is. If we ever plan another trip back to New Orleans- this is the place we want to stay!

Fantastic experience

  • 5 of 5

This little cottage is great!! It was in a great location. We parked our car and we did not use it the few days we were there. It was walking distance to the French Quarter and to Frenchman Street. At first when we drove up - it looked questionable. But this is just how all the neighborhoods look in this area. We never had any problems and walked everywhere - even at night time.

We cant wait to book this cottage again !!!!
