Nice Place and Convenient Location

We enjoyed our stay very much. The property was secure, and the location was very convenient to Yellowknife. We rented a car to get around, but the condo is right on the main street (Franklin) on the edge of the city, so it's walkable to get to shops and downtown. The owner and son are very nice. The bedrooms were roomy & comfy. I was thrilled to learn it had a tub/shower instead of just a shower. I would give this a 5 star, but for a few items that could be improved... When we came in, several lamps were unplugged, and the t.v. cables weren't secured into the wall or t.v. in living room. The day before we left, I finally figured out that the LR t.v. just needed a "restart" to function. There's a tall lamp in one bedroom that's unplugged and looks to be in "storage" there. The alarm clock was unplugged and it took me some time to figure out how it worked. Oddly, the dishwasher was never installed correctly, and was not attached underneath the counter! It kept wanting to fall out, then the hose came loose, and we were cleaning up water on the floor. I'm sure that's fixed by now, but the owners weren't aware of this until we contacted them. The faucet was loose, too. The kitchen is quite nice, but some TLC is needed in cleaning and organizing the drawers and cupboards. A very icky old rag was on the sink for a dishrag. We promptly went to the store and bought a couple of new ones to use. ( I would also recommend getting some new and not so big bath towels, and replace the tiny hooks with rods or big rings. The towels just kept falling off the hooks.) There is a cleaning charge, so these areas should be cleaned each time. There's also an unexplained "service charge", so just be aware these will show up on check out. One other recommendation is to have some written instructions on site: Where to dump the trash, what to do with the keys upon leaving, and instructions on how to use the t.v. This would save the owners time and help the renters. Overall, we were happy, but a little TLC and attention to detail would make it a perfect place to stay. P.S. We loved Yellowknife! Such friendly people and so interesting.
