I was born and brought up in Puglia. We bought this property with my British wife because of her love for my native region.
Because of my deep knowledge of the areas I am able to provide relevant tips for holidaymakers who wish to experience this little know corner of Southern Italy.
Matteo Turi purchased this farmhouse in 2004
It is located only 3 minutes drive from Martina Franca. It has the benefit of a private large pool and 6500 square metres of land.
The trilli have been bought in 2004 and thanks to their extraordinary building technique have never required maintenance.
They offer unique shelter from the summer ferocious heat of Southern Italy. While you may suffer as high temperatures as 40c outside, you can comfortably stay inside with a temperature of 20-25c without air conditioning.
You are only 30 minutes from the nearest beach and if you prefer you can also visit waterparks, zoos or other entertainment sites depending on what you look for.
Very central location in the Itria Valley, a fairy-take type of property and a larger than average swimming pool.
We would like to thank the owner for the fantastic holiday we have had in Puglia in April.
We think the region has a lot to offer and, despite the Euro strenght, prices are just a fraction of what they are elsewhere in Italy or many other more celebrated holiday places.
The property is great, full of nice finishing and Martina Franca is our kinda town.
Firstly, after the trip I was amazed that this Trulli wasn't fully booked! I went with two friends and we had an amazing holiday. The indoor spaces were immaculate (clean and well maintained) and truly felt like we were in our own little holiday home. All the mod cons inside, although these were rarely used. I was initially concerned that there wasn’t any aircon, but I guess with the way these trullis are built there really wasn’t any need (it was mid 30 degrees outside!) yet we were more than comfortable inside. The outdoor space was on another level!! The swimming pool, sunbathing area and gazebo area were so big we thought we had to share with the neighbours, we were very happy to find out it was all ours! Considering the neighbouring property was so close, we weren’t overlooked and felt completely private. The beach was only 20-25mins away and we did a boat trip (30-40mins drive). Martina Franca is also beautiful and has some amazing restaurants. If I had known about the golf course an hour’s drive away I would have made extra time! All in all, a wonderful property! Matteo, the owner, couldn’t have been more helpful in advising us on trips, places to see and restaurant advice. Thank you Matteo, we will be coming again!!
We stayed in this property last year in August. We must admit that Puglia, as a region, did not disappoint us at all and we were actually disappointed not to stay longer than a week in this gem region.
We found a really charming property with a large swimming pool, very hospitable and friendly people and really nice and long uninterrupted sandy beaches. All this without the mass tourism you encounter in the most traditional places and it was a real pleasure to be surrounded by Italians all the time.
We highly recommend this property for its carachter, we had never seen anything like that, with conic ceilings and marvellous stone work throughout. In addition, Puglia proved to be excellent value for money. Even the most celebrated restaurants have very reasonably prices and the quality of the food is just simple above average.
Since my last visit in 2007, the property had greatly benefited from the newly-built large swimming pool.
The large newly-built patio was also ideal for al fresco dining and for soaking the best sunshine Puglia had to offer in the long summer days we spent there.
The trulli accomodation inside was unique, it is like staying for 2 weeks in a monumental piece of art rather than staying in a normal holiday villa. The walls are thick and inside the temperature is much cooler end enjoyable than in the hot and sticky outside.
The hospitality was above average, we cannot stop recommending this property and this location if you really enjoy a peaceful break in this unspoilt corner of Italy.
The weather is great, the food is probably the best I have ever tasted and the price for eating out and entertaining the family is a fraction of what I would have paid in Tuscany.
"Beau logement mais un peu petit pour 5.
4 personnes semble le maximum.
Belle piscine trés agréable
Pas possible de faire fonctionner machine à laver et pompes piscine en même temps
Bien situé pour rayonner
Le matériel de cuisine est à revoir
mais globalement trés possitif"
Martina Franca is a pleasant little town on a human dimension, lies among the enchanting scenery of the Valle d'Itria in the highest part of the Murge, 431 metres above sea level, mid-way between the Ionian Sea and the Adriatic. Historically speaking it goes back to the tenth century, but the town presumably arose in 1310, founded by the Prince of Taranto, Philippe I of Anjou. As soon as we enter the old town centre we are enveloped in an unreal, magic atmosphere: the streets, lanes, flights of rough stairs, even the windows take us back to a moment that is far back in time, yet strangely close if we consider how well kept everything is. Pages of history come alive so that the visitor is fascinated by the whole effect, but also by the details, accurately tooled by the local stone-cutters.
