This cute and comfy cottage has just enough room for everyone! It's beautifully furnished and the big kitchen, cathedral ceilings and open floorplan make it an ideal space for spending time with family and friends. Located one block from the Classic Shore waterfront, this cottage is a great place to catch the sunrise during an early morning stroll. It has three bedrooms and two baths. Located in a quiet neighborhood, the fenced in back yard is a great place for barbeques.
Downtown Colonial Beach is a quick trip by bike or golf cart and includes quaint coffeehouses, funky shops and all the makings for a quintessential small town beach getaway! Don't miss a walk along the sycamore-lined boardwalk, fishing from the Town Pier, sunbathing or beachcombing along the Potomac River shore and lots of good eats at the many great restaurants to choose from.
When you are ready for a change of pace, a short drive away are great parks, historic sites and attractions including Westmoreland State Park, George Washington's Birthplace, Stratford Hall (home of Robert E. Lee) Ingleside Winery and Westmoreland Berry Farm. Enjoy a day of sightseeing, hiking, kayaking or just a quiet country drive all less than 30 minutes from Colonial Beach.
We love Colonial Beach! I grew up coming to the Beach and the Northern Neck where my family owned different waterfront properties over the years. My father was in the Navy and he and my mother loved being near the water. I remember many family drives along the Colonial Beach waterfront just admiring the shoreline. We live and work in Maryland now but we find ourselves returning to the water time and again repeating those shoreline drives and enjoying that same timeless view.
Cathy & Jeff Thompson purchased this cottage in 2007
I was delighted to buy a home of my own here almost ten years ago and to share those beach experiences with my husband and daughter. Some of our happiest memories were made here and it's great to think about new families making memories as well. We love walking the beach collecting beach glass, taking a bike ride around the Point, or making a family meal at the cottage. And summer doesn't start for us until we have ice cream from Nancy's.
We bought this house when it was new in 2007 after falling in love with the cathedral ceilings, big kitchen, and open floorplan. It's great for families with young children and the fenced in back yard is a bonus. The neighborhood is close to everything yet still quiet in the evenings. The cottage is filled with unique finds that I've collected over the years. There's loads of beach cottage charm in this place.
Great place to stay and play!!!
This home was
Everything we expected and more. Very clean home, central air. The kitchen was well equipt , lots of space. Wifi was available . 😊Home is in a quiet neighborhood not far from the beach.
Cathy and Jeff have done a top-notch job in decorating and maintaining their cottage at Colonial Beach. It's located away from the main beach, but convenient by car to all the local attractions. I had a couple problems, that Cathy and Jeff squared away right away. The Thompsons' have done a very nice job conveying a beach/nautical theme throughout. Their cottage is very well equipped, with plenty of linens, kitchen equipment, even DVD's and games! I believe they must arrange for cleaning after every visit. My family had a very nice stay at the Starfish Cottage, and we will not think twice about staying there next time.
This home was larger than I expected. The kitchen was huge and the living room had a gas fireplace. Everything was really well kept. My only critique would be, for such a large home it had very little sitting in the living room.
Awesome cottage! When work took me to the area for a few months I decided to rent this gem and boy was that the right decision! We have a 10 month old and this was the perfect place to spend the summer. We enjoyed taking walks through quaint colonial beach in the evenings, spending afternoons at the beach, and exploring the history of the Northern Neck on the weekends. We loved the single story living with our crawling baby and there was plenty of space for the three of us plus there was room for two more adults if we had visitors. If I come back I would not hesitate to try to stay here again.
Starfish Cottage is clean, attractive, comfortable, and quiet. We slept well. The kitchen is roomy and nicely equipped, however it did not have a toaster. We would have appreciated computer access and a better television package to include MASN for the Nationals games. The neighborhood seems safe and would be good for families with children. Renters should know that they will need their car, bike, or golf cart to get to the boardwalk area and restaurants. The owner was very helpful and available, if needed.
