Situated in Barbaricina the historic village/suburb of Pisa, Tuscany, Italy, famous for its San Rossore Presidential Park and race course. Pisa is a central and prominent location for visiting all parts of Tuscany; ie: Siena, Volterra, Lucca, Versilia, Florence etc. The cottage is located in a central, yet quiet and safe, part of the city with a small enclosed garden, ideal for all ages, including young children. Pisa has a mild climate with lots to see, so it is indicated for winter breaks too
Our family of four stayed in this charming house for only one night, we wished we had stayed longer. The hose is perfectly placed to explore Pisa but it would have been lovely to have stayed longer to see more of the surrounding area as well. There is a lovely small garden with a BBQ which we would love to have tried out! Virginia was very helpful and friendly, thank you for making our stay so good, we enjoyed it so much.
We were fortunate enough to spend almost 7 weeks in this quarter of Pisa and the journey from the airport was very easy by bus even with all our luggage, i.e. one bus from outside Arrivals to the Central Station in Pisa, and a second one to within 3-4 minutes walk of the cottage. Total journey time about 20 minutes.
The cottage itself is somewhat dated and slightly quirky (light switches and washing line!) but extremely welcoming and comfortable with good facilities - we were quite sorry to leave! The owner is friendly and amenable and we were made to feel completely at home by her and the people generally in the vicinity.
There's a small row of shops (greengrocer, butcher, deli/general store) 3-4 minutes walk away opposite the number 6 bus stop, which goes directly into Pisa centre from where you can travel by bus or train to wherever you want to go.
All in all a very enjoyable stay and we will definitely go back if and when the opportunity arises.
Our family of 4 stayed in Virginia's apartment for nearly a week. The apartment was in very quiet and safe neighborhood location within a 5 minute drive block from downtown Pisa and 20 minutes to the beach. It had a very nice kitchen and living area with a full bath on the first floor and 1/2 bath on second floor with the two private bedrooms. The apartment had everything we needed including a wonderful information session with Virgina who was very prompt at returning any e-mails requesting information or providing us her recomendations. We had a car, and used it to travel to many areas of Italy including the wine country around San Gimignano, Lucca, and Sienna, Volterra, and many others. We also visited Cinque Terra by car and the train between the coastal cities in the Cinque Terra area. We took a bus from the Airport to travel to Florence since it drops you off in the city center and cost only $10 round trip. There is a good train system that extends to other cities. The apartment has easy free parking options including a small space behind the apartment. There is also a very nice outside patio with a grill for cooking, tables, and a nice swing.
We highly recommend this apartment for travels to the area. We would definately rent again. You will not be disapointed.
This property was perfect for our needs 4 adults visiting PIsa. Two good sized bedrooms - one with compact balcony, small sitting area and kitchen with pleasant garden at the back of the house and mosi screens on the windows. We felt very safe here, it was very quiet. The house is located approx 30 mins walking distance to the Tower and about 20 mins walk to the local railway station and several bus routes pass the end of the main street. The house is in a residential area with baker, tabach and tratoria all within walking distance. We arrived during their festival time so shops and eateries were closed on 16th and 17th June, on 16th Pisa held the Luminare Festival - all of the buildings in Pisa were lit by candlelight and then around 11 pm there was a fireworks display - not recommended if you don't like crowds close to 70k attended that night.
Our host Ginny met us at the house on arrival and had left some very welcome breakfast groceries, she very kindly gave us a drive around the surrounding area so that we got our bearings, booked our return taxis which were punctual - we couldn't have asked for more.
Compact Italian Terrace that allows you to live like a local and enjoy the splendours of Pisa. Great location if you want to travel to Florence, Lucca, Siena. Highly Recommended.
We felt very much at home at Virginia's property. It was extremely handy for Pisa and Pisa train stations, being a short bus journey away yet in a peaceful location. More locally, there are small food shops and some good restaurants - all within walking distance. The house is spacious and very well equipped; it is also as described, well- maintained and completely clean. Although we had some pretty warm weather - the house always felt comfortable. The garden is delightful. Virginia is a fabulous host; friendly, warm, helpful and knows the area very well. She has clearly given a lot of thought into her guests' needs.
We have no hesitation in recommending this property. Debbi, David and Nick Thomas Hove England
Firstly, the owner could not be more accommodating. Breakfast awaiting us after a late arrival. Fully equipped kitchen, wonderful backyard and BBQ, quiet neighbourhood, easy walking to great food shops, cafés where you can pick up anything you might need? Very close to bus into Pisa central station where you can easily pick up bus or rail connections. As a frequent user of VRBO we highly recommend this for a stay in the Tuscany region. The house is five minutes from the main road to the motorway, Pisa airport, City center and railway station. Parking is easy, but (easily accessible) public transport would be sufficient for visiting the main tourist attractions and beaches in Tuscany.
The owner works in Pisa airport, and is easily available for any help/VIP treatment (!) through the airport, as well as being very conversant in all that Pisa and its surroundings has to offer. The cottage is within walking distance of pizzerias, bars and ice cream shop ; farmer's market, wine cellar, supermarket (in fact all that the discerning tourist needs).
After visiting the usual must-see monuments of Pisa such as Leaning Tower, cathedral etc there are many wonderful places to visit in Pisa. There are several famous Museums. A walk near the river to see the medieval tower houses, the beautiful gothic miniature Church of La Chiesa della Spina. the houses of Byron, Shelley, Galileo etc. The botanical Gardens, The Roman Ship museum, Piazza dei Cavalieri with its famous palaces just to mention a few. For families there are nice attractions for children such as water parks, theme parks, caves to visit, pony rides in San Rossore Park etc
