Located on a hill with a splendid view of the Loire Valley (over 25km), Le Clos de Venise is an ancient 5ha property where one of the best Vouvray wines is produced. Le Petit Venise, the adjacent building, has been environmentally-friendly restored into a gite, preserving its "old" charm but with modern equipments and decoration. Come and relax in the typical atmosphere of Touraine, in a preserved and unique environment. Le Clos de Venise, about 100m away from the village centre, is bright, environment-friendly (cellulose wadding insulation, solar hot water and heating system and natural stones) and equipped to the highest standard. From the ground floor, with all the rooms opened up, you will find a staircase with a corridor leading to the mezzanine bedrooms and shower rooms. This non-smoking gite offers top-of-the-range services for the most demanding costumers interested in French tradition and heritage. Come and discover the "Jardin de la France" (Garden of France) area.
We had rented this house back in 2014 - and gave it a rating of: '10 stars- the best' then. Well, Claude & Francine - again - your house and your warm hospitality - are '10 stars the best' again. This year we rented for 5 weeks in September and into October. Perfect ! We visited some smaller chateaux this time - and we went to a cooking class. The cooking class was also excellent !! About an hours drive. But well worth it.
here is the web site: www.lespeupliers-loire.com
We also went on a balloon ride - again well worth it.
If you are looking for a top notch place - with wonderful and warm hosts - look no further; you have found it.
Thank you so much Claude & Francine - for your warm and friendly welcome to us for the 2nd time.
We will be back.... :)

When we arrived at the gates we could not believe the stunning, peaceful location and in fact my mum was tearful! It was so beautiful to see the house on the hill with the vineyard below and we were greeted so warmly by the owners, Claude and Francine. We were shown around the property and given information about the local area and felt reassured that we could ask for assistance should we have needed it. The house was stunning, complimenting its history but with all modern, high quality fittings that allowed seven of us to stay more than comfortably. We enjoyed taking it in turns to walk through the vineyard every morning for croissants at the bakery which was open everyday ( including weekends) apart from Monday and the village was minutes away from the beautiful town of Amboise. We enjoyed the Segway, the kayaking, the mushroom caves, the castles lit up at night, Blois, Tours and mostly eating al fresco in the beautiful garden. We were lucky to have gorgeous weather but it would still have been special in the rain. The house was spotlessly clean and we really appreciated the homely touch as Francine gave us jam made from her fruit trees and Claude a bottle of wine from the vineyard. A very special place that we will always remember. I read the reviews and thought it must be lovely but it went beyond my expectations. Plenty to do in the area for all ages and not as rural as is suggested with bustling towns near by.
We arrived to be met by Jacky & Michelle, assistants to the owners. They lived locally and despite my limited French, could not have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. And we did have a couple of issues which were sorted out efficiently. They are a delightful couple. Their wine was pretty good too I might add!!
The location was perfect for visiting the Loire, the house was perfect for our party of 5.
Nearby Amboise was delightful, now one of our favourite towns in rural France, but so glad we stayed in Noizay, which was idyllic!
I have only one sadness, and that is that we didn't meet the owners on our visit, as I would have loved to congratulate them on Le Close de Venise - I can't recommend it highly enough to anyone wanting to explore the Region!
We loved our week long stay (June 2016) in the highly comfortable and well-appointed stone cottage on the divine vineyard property of the very gracious and charming Francine and Claude Bobet. It was so quiet and an ideal central location to explore the Loire Valley and the many Chateaux. From here we took the short drives to Chenonceau, Chaumont, Amboise, Chambord, Cheverney and Azay-le-Rideau (lovely, though note that it's mostly under scaffolding through 2017).
The train from CDG into Tours was quite convenient (just be advised that the car rental offices are open til 5:00 on Saturday and closed on Sunday.)
One very cool feature of Clos de Venise is that it backs up against a limestone cliff. An outdoor stairway takes you above the roof of the stone cottage where there is another series of vineyard fields and more amazing views of the area. The limestone cliffs extend for a long distance and there are homes and wine production companies built right into man-made caves. We enjoyed a tour of such a wine company walking through a series of tunnels and rooms in the limestone rock.
We also found it to be really big fun to take a Segway tour of Amboise (our first and we are over 50 years old!) We returned to Amboise several times for meals. We enjoyed a gourmet meal at the nearby Chateau Noizay. Another reviewer found it too pricey. Yes, it's not cheap, but we had the most scrumptious to-die-for meal ever! Start with the aperitif and amuse buche in the lounge. So gentile! On the other hand, the highly rated (by TripAdvisor) Le Breche restaurant in Amboise did not measure up. The atmosphere and service was excellent, the main course food (lamb and duck--too tough to chew) was less than wonderful. In our 5 trips to France, where you can usually stumble into any restaurant and get the best meal of your life, we were a bit surprised...however our general joie de vire was not interrupted!
While driving into Amboise, take one of those little turns off the main road along the Loire River...you can walk right to the last wild river in France (where it is at it's widest point) and get a wonderful view of the town of Amboise across the river. Try to make the Sunday market in Amboise and get a funny looking cake that is a round disk shape and black on the top. Very sweet and moist...and lasted a few days until we finished it.
Francine and Claude, thank you again for your wonderful hospitality and excellent advice and help along the way.
We have just left after a week at Le Clos de Venise and we could not have had a more wonderful stay. The house was perfect for our family of 3 children and every evening they played on the grass while we sampled the local wines. The house is exceptional in it's design, amenities, beautiful linen, everything you need in the kitchen etc. The most special thing about the stay however, are the wonderful hosts Francine and Claude. They were very welcoming from arrival and made us feel very much at home. The house is close to the village and an easy drive to other towns and attractions. We couldn't recommend Le Clos de Venise more and would love to return one day!
We recently spent a week at Le Clos de Venise. We arrived late in the evening after getting lost on back country roads with the advice of our GPS. Francine was immediately available on the phone to help us with our directions and Claude was waiting for us on the street to guide us to the villa. The villa itself is magnificent, newly renovated with modern decor in an old stone house built into the side of the stone cliff. The house is fully appointed with everything you would need to cook a fantastic meal after going to one of the many local markets. The bedrooms are all large and beautifully decorated. It was cold and rainy for much of our time at the villa, but we spent our evenings in front of the fireplace recounting our days of visiting the many chateaux that make the Loire valley so famous. Our hosts were exceptional, they invited us over to their home (the main villa) one evening where they had a roaring fire. We enjoyed some cheese and wine made from the grapes in their vineyard. I cannot say enough about how generous, kind and welcoming Claude and Francine are as hosts.
Access to the main Chateaux of the region is very easy from the villa. The town of Amboise is about 15 minutes away and in this town you will find a large market, lots of great restaurants, little shops and a Chateaux. In the Village of Noisay there is a small food store which carries fresh fruit, fresh bread and pastries and a good selection of other supplies you might need. We dined at the Chateau de Noisay, a relais restaurant, but frankly, I found the food very expensive and quite disappointing. There are better restaurants in Amboise. I would highly recommend this villa. We cannot wait to return. Thank you so much Claude and Francine.
Le Clos de Venise is at the centre of the beautiful province of Touraine. Close to Tours (17km away), Amboise (8km away) and Chenonceau (20km away). Less than 1h drive away from other prestigious castles: Chaumont, Chambord, Villandry, Usse, Blois, Langeais, etc. From Le Clos de Venise, you can go walking or cycling and visit the nearby castles (Valmer, Jallanges and Le Clos Lucé (Leonardo da Vinci's residence) or you can take a stroll along the paths and get to know the winemakers at their cellars who will be delighted to introduce you to their Vouvray wines. The "Domaine du Clos de Venise" is adjacent to the castle of Noizay (Relais & Chateaux): you can walk down to one of the most outstanding tables of Touraine, in a place steeped in history. Located in a green setting surrounded by vineyards, Le Clos de Venise dominates the village of Noisay with all shops and services that you may need during your stay. The Loire Valley is ideal for active people who enjoy cycling or canoeing.
