From the moment you arrive, you will not be disappointed. Step into the recently remodeled one-level home and you will see lots of up-north appeal. The large master suite has a vaulted cedar ceiling and a gas stone fireplace, and offers amazing lake views with french doors leading to the deck. Laying in the king sized bed, view the stars in the sky at night and the sunrise in the early morning. There is a master bathroom that has tile floor and shower, and granite topped double sinks. This room has satellite TV. Bedroom 2 is a large 'bunk room' and has a king sized log bed, and a log bunk with full size on bottom and twin on top, also has a TV for watching movies or playing games . Bedroom 3 has a king sized bed, bedroom 4 has a queen sized bed, and Bedroom 5 has a full sized bed. The pine plank flooring flows throughout the open kitchen-dining and living room area. Through the living room french doors is a large 3 season lakeside porch that has a newer couch with a chaise and pull out bed. The porch leads to the large deck, where we enjoy the shade and lake breezes. The large lakeside yard is perfect for yard games; boccie ball and bean back toss are a couple of our family favorites.
The clear lake and great swimming area is forgiving of the elevation (approx. 36 steps to the lake). The elevation also allows for the amazing view and the gentle breezes on hot summer days.
Russ and I call Brainerd our home, but our true love is heading to the cabin on weekends and letting our worries and stress melt away as we take the scenic hour drive north on the windy road to Longville, between the lakes and through the pines. We cherish the time spent with family and friends at the cabin.
Linda Steffen purchased this house in 2011
As a lifelong resident of Brainerd, known as the heart of lakes area, I discovered a whole new love for lake country when we purchased our Longville lake home in 2011. The tranquility of Mule Lake, known for its' clarity and the thousands of feet of state-owned shoreline, is ideal for swimming, fishing, kayaking, and boating. Huge white pines line the lakeshore and attract many eagles and loons. We enjoy the small community and the many popular year round events that it hosts.
Surrounded by lakes and forest, Longville has been a popular vacation destination for many years. Located in North Central Minnesota, the area provides some of the best fishing, boating, water sports, hiking and biking in the summer and fall. The famous Longville Turtle Races have been enjoyed by all ages for many years. Every Wednesday afternoon from June through August, streams of cars descend on the little town of Longville on the shores of Girl Lake. Family-friendly activities are happening all year round in Longville.
Our group of 10 stayed at this cabin, the cabin is spacious and clean. We spent a lot of time down by the dock, the views are beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay.
Our family of 10 with ages from 6-63 had a great time. We had so much fun on the pontoon, swimming, barbecuing, yard games, and the fishing was amazing. We caught numerous small and large mouth bass right off of the dock. The fire pit was a nightly hang out to cap off our enjoyable sunny days with S' mores and good conversation. Your beautiful home met all of our expectations. We hope to come back next year!
We had 12 people on our summer vacation, 8 adults and 4 children. The bedding was excellent, the house is beautiful and the lake was refreshing! It was very hot during our stay and the swimming/lake depth at the end of the dock was perfect, kids were 7-10. They LOVED jumping, diving and doing cannon balls off the dock. We also had great fishing, bass, crappies, northerns and walleye...a 28" northern right off the dock! The washer and dryer was a major bonus and the newly updated kitchen totally compliments the lake home. Shopping in Longville, a day trip to Itasca State Park and simply being at the lake was just what we needed. Linda was a great host and always replied whenever I had questions. Would definitely recommend this property!
Everything about the property met our needs! The house was well stocked and open floor plan gave us plenty of room to spread out during our chilly wet days. The dock was perfect for fishing, swimming, tying our boats/kayaks and watching the eagles soar overhead. The back yard was great for games and campfires. The hidden treasure was the rope swing across the lake which the kids found while they were kayaking! The Steffen's were a pleasure to work with. We definitely hope to return in the future.
My family of 6 adults and 2 teens enjoyed this home very much. It was very clean and in good condition. The owner was great to work with, even let us in a little early because we were concerned about arriving during bad weather. We swam, fished, enjoyed the pontoon and the nice size yard and deck. I would definitely recommend this property to friends & family.
This home was perfect for our family. The kids loved playing on the playset in the yard and having bonfires at night. The home was very clean and had everything we needed for a week of fishing and relaxing Up North. We will definitely be back in the future.
