This Floating Bungalow offers a unique vacation with all the amenities of a house - yet on a boat! The back porch with its’ overhead fans is perfect for fishing, reading or enjoying the sunrise/sunset. The Floating Bungalow has a full kitchen with granite counter top, tiled back splash, a five burner cook stove, full size refrigerator with ice-maker, and dishwasher. Cooking utilities, plates, glasses, etc. are provided as well as basic spices. Cook-in, eat-out, or use the gas grill on the back porch. The upstairs sleeping loft has a comfortable bed, cathedral ceiling, carpeting, reading light and walk-in closet. Wake up in a full loft with panoramic views of the water and a stained glass window. Relax in the stunning and functional living room with cathedral ceiling, stained glass window, electric fireplace, hardwood floors and eight full size windows featuring French doors opening onto a beautiful front porch. Living room includes a full size sleep sofa offering sleeping for another two people (this is a sleep sofa and therefore not as comfortable as a bed for adults). The flat screen TV offers major network stations with ROKU offering Netflix, History Channel, Pandora, and many others. The bathroom is not your typical boat bathroom, as it features a full size shower as well as a residential flush toilet. Family marina offers pontoon boat rentals, bait shop, deli, and pool. Paradise Cove is opening with a full restaurant and pool bar and live music at the Marina on July 1.
There is much to do in the area. The St. John's River is alive with wildlife and birds! Turtles, blue herons, and manatees come right up to the porch of the Floating Bungalow! Boat Tree Marina offers a pool, deli, bait, and rental boats (with a 15% discount to our guests for rental boats). On July 1st we will welcome the opening of Paradise Cove, the Marina’s new restaurant and Pool Bar offering live music. We provide two kayaks free of charge for your leisurely paddling down the river. The St. John’s River is a meandering waterway with cypress covered shoreline and great stands of oak hammocks. The river is full of nesting osprey, bald eagles, manatees and other wildlife. Nearby State Parks offer additional ways to enjoy nature including eco-tours, scuba diving, paddle boating, and swimming. Sanford is one of Central Florida’s oldest incorporated cities, is home to brick-lined streets, towering oaks, elegant store-fronts and large, nineteenth-century Victorian homes. The downtown Historic Sanford is less than five miles away and features events, art galleries, pubs, restaurants, Farmers Market, and a Riverwalk with gazebos and swinging benches and 1.2 miles of pedestrian walking paths. Along the way you can visit Veterans Memorial Park, Marina Island, Ft. Mellon Park, the Sanford Museum, or have lunch at one of the lakeside restaurants. Historic Sanford hosts many events including ArtWalks, Jazz concerts, Farmer's Market, Food Truck Bazaars, monthly “Alive After Five” celebrations, and more. Be sure to check out to see what's happening during your stay. Orlando is only 30 minutes away and offers live shows, culture, and a downtown scene. Daytona Beach and New Symrna Beach are also about 30 minutes away. We are 35-40 minutes away from the Theme Parks – allowing you to go play and come back to relax!
In our early 50s Warren and I found ourselves in New Hampshire in a 5400 square foot house with our kids moving onto their adult lives. We also found all of our money and time was spent in cleaning and maintaining the house and "stuff" we had accumulated. There are times in everyone's lives when you need to sit back and think about what you want in life and tweak things to achieve this goal. For us, we did much more than tweak!
We decided to simplify life without compromising style, luxury, or beauty. We wanted to spend time "on" the water, move to a warmer climate, stop working full time, and enjoy a relaxed, fun, and joyful lifestyle. This was the beginning of Floating Bungalows.
After designing and building our first Floating Bungalow, we decided to rent out our home to vacationers. We love having vacationers come and find such enjoyment out of our Floating Bungalow!
Cynthia Billings purchased this house boat in 2014
The small house movement is taking shape all over the country as people realize they do not want to work in the rat race to support a huge home that they do not have time to enjoy.
Floating bungalows are designed to be low-maintenance homes allowing you to spend more time enjoying what you enjoy - and less time cleaning and maintaining your home.
My husband is native to New Hampshire and we spent 30 years of our life together there. We love having Northerners come stay in the cold months and take extra care that the sun and bungalow refuel them.
The combination of the luxurious space and vacation atmosphere of the Marina, along with the location of our Floating Bungalow make this a perfect vacation spot for people of all ages!
Face it, vacationing on a boat is just plain great! You’ll return from your vacation relaxed and rejuvenated. We have everything to provide you with a fast paced and exciting, laid back and quiet, or active with nature vacation! Come see for yourself why it’s great to be ON the water!
This was one of the most relaxing, fun vacations we have had. You have the experience of a great small house for 2 and also being on a "boat". We had turtles and fish swimming up to our deck off the back of the house, they ate cat food kibbles! Everyone at the marina were most friendly and welcoming. You have all the conveniences of home. The kitchen is Great, stainless steel appliances, gas stove. Just terrific. Extremely comfortable living area, you can entertain 6 people for dinner, sofa, chairs and flat screen TV. You might think the bathroom is small but it is not! Nice big shower! Upstairs loft is the bedroom with a Queen size bed. Don't know how Cynthia and Warren got these big pieces of furniture in there but they did. Decorated beautifully. We had a lot of visitors and they all fell in love with our little get away. We plan on coming back. You need to do the same!!! Thank You Cynthia and Warren! See you soon! P.S. You need to experience a martini on the back deck!!!!!!!!
Loved this special place. My son and I spent a long weekend on the Floating Bungalow and enjoyed every minute! He liked it so much he said he wants to buy the place when he is older! LOL Thank you for sharing your floating home with us!

we caught twenty brims on our three day stay right off the back porch. I give the Floating Bungalow an A+ five stars.
Staying in a houseboat is a wonderful and private experience, much better than a hotel room! We enjoyed feeding the turtles and the boat has everything you need, full kitchen, living room...all nicely decorated. It worked well for having family over before going to dinner. They were all impressed!
It's cozy, comfy & clean & terribly romantic ... with a fireplace in main room
& front porch to enjoy morning coffee ..
The Floating Bungalow exceeded expectations! Yes, it is charming. Yes, it is cozy. More than that, it is in a lovely marina setting with instant access to the beauty of the St. James and Wekiva Rivers as well as the vast expanse of Lake Monroe. Old town Sanford is just a short drive away with excellent restaurant choices in a friendly, small town atmosphere. Our hosts, Cynthia and Warren were helpful with suggestions, advice and friendly conversation while never being intrusive.
