Awesome location - shocking, misleading bedding!

  • 3 of 5

A truly awesome apartment in many ways. The location is just fabulous! You can literally walk everywhere from here. Size is small but exactly as depicted in the photos so all good. There are bars nearby & can be noisy at night, but settles after around 12/1am so not too bad.

My only complaint was the bedding.

The apartment is advertised as sleeping 4. This is totally misleading.

The sofa bed has wooden slats & a one inch thick piece of foam that I would list definitely not call a mattress. It was totally unsuitable for our 16 y/o daughter from both a comfort & support factor, and because it was noisy, creaking & she could feel the wooden slats digging in to her through the one inch piece of foam. I felt dreadful for her. We ended up putting the sofa cushions on the floor, putting the foam over the top & she slept like this. Very unacceptable when you're paying for 3!

The bedding all needs to be replaced in my opinion. Even the two singles joined together as a double werent really comfortable, but I probably wouldn't have minded so much if our daughters bedding was appropriate. The sheets are all a bit grubby feeling & should've upgraded too.

Federico was lovely when he met us at the apartment & went through everything, but I feel he's penny pinching by not upgrading the bedding.

I feel really ripped off with the sofa "bed".

I would only recommend for a single or couple.

Our stay at Frederico's was amazing!

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is very walkable to all the major sites of Rome, especially the Roman ruins. Frederico was very helpful and easy to communicate with. He suggested some places to eat in the neighborhood, and we had the best meal of our lives at Sora Margherita. The apartment was clean and had all of the amenities we needed (internet, washer, kitchen). Be advised the apartment is on a busy street that is very loud till the wee hours of the night. Our second night there we bought some ear plugs and slept fine.

Excellent location

  • 4 of 5

This property is an excellent location for many of the Rome sites. It's about 3-4 blocks from the center of the old Jewish community. Same distance to the Campo Fiori, an open air fruit and vegetable market. Same distance to the Pantheon. Same distance to a bus route that takes you right to Vatican City. It's also very walkable to the Roman Forum and Coleseum ruins. Apartment was comfortable and well furnished. The only downside was that it is a combination commercial and residential area. There is quite a bit of noise on the street that goes on until midnight or so. Consider ear plugs or staying out yourself till then.

Perfect location in Rome

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I booked a two-week trip in Rome. We like to spend enough time in a big city like Rome so that we can get to know our way around and take our time in seeing all the sights. We are both 50+ and in good shape. I was looking for a small, 1 bedroom apartment with wifi, laundry and a great location. This property was perfect.

The location was ideal. Located in the old Jewish Ghetto, the famous Turtle Fountain in Piazza Mattei is 50 feet away. There is a tiny convenience store located immediately next door, a produce market around the corner, two full super markets are about a 15 minute walk. There are also about 12 great restaurants within a 500’ radius, including 3 that are less that 100’ from the front door.

The apartment itself is on the second floor. You enter through the hallway and climb the narrow circular stone stairs. This hallway serves only this apartment so it is very private. The street in does have one-way traffic, but being so narrow, it’s mostly scooters and private cars. We quickly learned to open the door, listen for an approaching vehicle before bounding out. It was never a problem.

The apartment itself has a nice lay out for 2 people, or 2 people and a small child (the sofa is large and very comfortable.) The kitchen is small but large enough to cook full meals (which we did several times.) There is a refrigerator and freezer and enough utensils to handle most simple meals.

The bathroom is nice and the shower has good water pressure and ample hot water. When we were there, Rome was having an extreme heat way, with temperatures of 95+ and high humidity so we used the air conditioning constantly and it kept the apartment nice and cool.

The only problem we had was with the washing machine, which didn’t spin the clothes enough. We took to wringing out the clothes and hanging them to dry which worked fine. Federico, the property manager, said he would be replacing it.

Speaking of Federico, he and I swapped emails several times before we arrived. He answered all my questions and set up a private car to pick us up at the airport, which was cheaper than the set taxi fare.

The day before we left, I texted Federico, who set up another airport transfer for us, and met us the next morning. He returned our security deposit and made sure we got off to the airport on time.

Great location, great service. If we return to Rome, this will be where we stay.

Car: not necessary

The area is simply full of history and beauty and the apartment access quite easy. Furthermore, Casa LAVIULIA can be a parfect point of departure for all major touristic spots. Here are some distances by foot: Campo de' Fiori (3 min), Pantheon (3 min), Teatro Marcello (3 min), Piazza Navona (5 min), Trastevere (10 min), Fori Imperiali (10 min), Fontana di Trevi (12 min), Piazza di Spagna (15 min) and Colosseum (15 min). And within few direct bus stops, you can easily join the Vatican and its museums. Just to mention some of the possible itineraries...

Fashion and hand-crafted shop, restaurants and stores in general are a few steps away, not far you can find:

- Pane Vino e San Daniele, nice restaurant with a tasteful type of ham and good cheese and wine;

- Ba'ghetto, kasher cuisine and wonderful pizza;

- Sora Margherita, cozy and cheap roman trattoria, traditional taste but reseravtion needed;

- Gelateria Il dolce sorriso, artisanal and always freshly made, only 2 euro for a small size ice-cream.

Last but not least, every morning there is the market in Capo de' Fiori (and why not a panini with roman porchetta at Aristocampo) that merits even only for sightseeing.

Casa LAVIULIA is certainly well-served, in the immediate surroundings there are several banks, convenient stores and a post office.
