If you plan to ask to bring a Pets: Your pet must be VERY friendly and get along well with others. I have 4 dogs on the property as well as a pot bellied pig, a few barn cats and the occasional chicken that flys the coop and free ranges. Your pet must not put any of my pets in harms way. Your pet must be up to date with all vaccinations and flea medication. You will be financially responsible for any and all accidents that occur with any of my animals or yours, due to bringing your pet onto the farm. Please think this thru before asking to bring your pet. This is my beloved animals home.
I'm a polo player, fox hunter and former DC investment banker. I live on a private horse farm I created myself from a raw cornfield. I'm a huge animal lover. The farm is home to my pot bellied pig named Flower, 4 dogs, various barn cats and usually anywhere from 6-25 horses, and numerous chickens. I run a little cottage business called (website hidden) and I create various products from recycled plastic feed bags. Come enjoy my private setting and bring a horse or two if need be. Just ask about stabling!
Theresa King purchased this house in 2005
Take a stroll around my beautiful gravel path vegetable garden. Rub the belly and feed Flower my pet Pot bellied pig. Gather eggs from my chickens if you fancy! Pet the horses!
My husband and I had a wonderful stay! The cottage was lovely and the surroundings were beautiful! Loved the outdoor seating areas and the pool! The home was well stocked with cooking utensils, appliances, and everything you needed- including fresh farmhouse eggs from the farm. We loved the animals and missed "Thelma" and the other dogs, the moment we left! Could not have been more pleased with this rental. Enjoyed meeting Theresa and her animals.
We are familiar with Aiken, having stayed there many times over the past nine years, but this time we wanted a different sort of accommodation so we chose this property. We loved it! Situated on Theresa's beautiful farm, it was very quiet and private, yet convenient to town. The "Pool House" is charming, nicely appointed and very well built. The entire property is extremely tidy, and the house was very clean. If you want to cook, the galley kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans and other cooking essentials. We ran around so much during our stay we used the coffee maker and the microwave once or twice, but otherwise just stocked the fridge with cool drinks. Our stay coincided with very warm temps, so having our own pool could not be beat! We loved the low-key visits from our "loaner dogs", Pancho and Thelma, who stood in for our crew who were left at home. As horse people, it was nice to see the gorgeous horses, but not have to do the work! Theresa was a perfect hostess, very unobtrusive, but there if you needed anything. Most of the time we felt as if we were the only ones there, which was nice. A couple of things to bear in mind: the spiral staircase is quite narrow, so if you have infirmities this might not be the place for you. We were there at a very hot time, and if you are, too, get your A/C going as soon as you get in as the sleeping area is a loft so it takes a while to cool down in those challenging temps. In more moderate temps this might not be an issue. We loved it, and would definitely stay with Theresa again.
Enjoyed a perfect long-getaway-weekend in this idyllic setting -- especially the treat of having the private pool all to myself...and the QUIET. The homeowner was so professional and friendly, from the booking process right through the end of my stay; the small cottage was charming and both efficiently & carefully appointed. Would recommend for solo travelers, couples, anyone wanting a few days away from the city/suburb circus!
My three year old son and I had the time of our lives on Theresa's beautiful farm. From the time we drove through the gates of L.A.G.A.R.A Farm we fell in love with farmlife.
The pool house overlooking the pool and horses allowed us to wake up to the most beautiful sunrise ever! We were also able to reconnect with nature while floating in the saltwater pool, feeding the handsome polo horses fodder, gathering exotic eggs, meeting Flower, the potbelly pig, and getting to know Theresa, Thelma, Poncho, and Roscoe. We made friends and memories that will last a lifetime
We were both very sad to say goodbye and can't wait to visit again very soon.
We had a fantastic time on the farm for our Anniversary/Babymoon.
From the sweet pups meeting us at the gate to lounging in the saltwater pool.
The the home is clean and well appointed. We cooked most our meals there (unless we were out exploring Aiken and nearby Augusta).
The bed is so comfy and we loved the view of the horses in the pastures.
The spiral stairs are very charming but it took a few times to be comfortable going down.
Also the a/c takes a bit to cool the place off when you first get there.
It wasn't a big deal to us as we ran to the grocery store as it was cooling down.
It was great to get away from all the distractions and reconnect.
We can't wait to go back!
We absolutely loved our stay at L.I.G.A.R.A. Farm! It was so peaceful. We just rested and relaxed. The swimming pool was awesome! We swam from 7am till 7pm. Water temperature was just right. Sure enjoyed reading in the hammock by the pool. Theresa King was right across the driveway if you needed anything, but gave you all the privacy you needed. The house is small but is great for two people. It was very clean and well maintained. We will definitely go back.
