Apartment with unique view on the medieval old town. Just restored and fully furnished. Possibility of guided tours: wine/food tasting, shopping & handcrafts, monumental towns.
We stayed here in Residenza Bellavista during the Christmas holidays and we could not have asked for a better vacation. First, Emanuela and Paolo made it very easy for us: from reserving the apartment, to meeting them, to checking out. Any questions we had were quickly answered.
The apartment was just perfect. It definitely exceeded our expectations -- it was even better in person than the website depicted. There was plenty of room for the four of us, we were warm and cozy even in snowy weather, it had every necessary amenity, and the location could not be better. We actually had a view of both the Piazza Grande as well as the giant Christmas tree (L'albero di Natale) on the mountainside! Residenza Bellavista is right there in the center of the old town in what is surely a centuries-old building. When we walked out the door, we were immediately in the thick of things; but the apartment is tucked away enough to avoid street noise. Great restaurants, shops, medieval churches, and locations of historical interest were nearby. If you have a car, it's extremely close to free parking lots.
If you've never been to Gubbio, you're in for a treat. It's a beautiful, small medieval town and the charms it holds are numerous. The food is amazing, particularly if you are a fan of truffles! The funicular up to the Basilica di S. Ubaldo is so special -- what a spectacular view of the Umbrian hillside when you get to the top. The people are warm and welcoming. We had only been there in the summer seasons previously and fell in love with the city. But Christmas time was even more special -- it was magical. The streets were filled with presepe (nativities, several of them live), concerts, and yuletide activities. And Gubbio is a great homebase if you want to explore other parts of Umbria and even Le Marche.
I can't say enough wonderful things about Residenza Bellavista. It is a special place. Our family will return to Gubbio, and we hope to stay there again. I highly recommend it to anyone wishing to discover this lovely town.
