About the property

Charming 5BD villa with private pool and gorgeous views in Greve in Chianti!

This wonderful recently restored 5BD villa is located in the heart of the Chianti region, just steps away from the town of Greve.

The villa traces its origin back to the 1300 and has recently been tastefully renovated and exquisitely furnished. The careful attention to details by the owner, who has owned the property for more than 35 years, contributes into making this villa a truly unique place with a very sophisticated, cozy and elegant atmosphere.

From the villa it is possible to enjoy the most lovely views on the typical Tuscan landscape, full of vineyards, olive groves and cypress peaked hillsides.

The garden of the villa is always perfectly kept and features plenty of outdoors furniture for the 2 covered verandas as well as for the pool area... Which makes it perfect for relaxing, and enjoying the views with a glass of wine or for al fresco dining (a large barbecue is available).

The private swimming pool (size 45 x 19 feet) overlooks wonderful views of the typical Tuscan countryside and comes fully furnished with lounges and shaded areas.

The villa is located nearby the heart of the village of Greve in Chianti as well as just a few minutes away from the beautiful medieval village of Montefioralle.

To reach Montefioralle, which is one of the most ancient villages in the Chianti area and is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, you can just travel by foot (about 4 minutes). The original name of this village was "Monteficalle," referring to the fig trees that grow in the fields around the castle... here you can find two great restaurants (one with outdoor seating) offering some of the best Tuscan specialties as well as a fabulous winery.

To reach Greve, which is often considered as the “entrance gate” into the Chianti region, you can travel from the villa by foot (about 10 minutes walk), by bike, or by car (3 minutes drive). The beautiful main square of Greve, Piazza Matteotti, is the focal point of the town, where there are several excellent restaurants such as: the Osteria Mangiando Mangiando, the Bottega del Moro or the Osteria del chianti classico as well as many other typical grocery stores, artisan shops and the famous Antica Macelleria Falorni (a Tuscan butcher that has been in the same spot since 1729). Nearby the square there is also a large supermarket.

The city of Florence is about a 35 minute drive, Siena is about a 1 hour drive, and San Gimignano is about a 50 minute drive away.

Description of the interiors.

The villa features 5 charming bedrooms and 4 bathrooms in total, so it can comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests.

Ground Floor: The villa's main door opens into a sitting room followed by a large living room with a fireplace and TV (with satellite channels). From the entrance sitting room there are a few stairs to reach the first bedroom (with two twin beds) and an ensuite bathroom (with shower).

The dining area is directly connected to the outdoor veranda (that comes fully furnished with sofas and very comfortable furniture) and to the private garden. Next to dining room is the spacious and fully equipped kitchen that comes with a large wood dining table (that seats up to 10 guests).

First Floor: Halfway up the stairs from the ground floor's living room going to the first floor, there is a double bedroom (with two twin beds) with attached bathroom (tub and handheld shower).

On the first floor there is another bedroom with two twin beds and a King bedroom that shares a bathroom with a shower.

At the end of the first floor's corridor there is the magnificent master bedroom (with King bed) with the ensuite bathroom with tub (and handheld shower). The villa is air-conditioned.

Amazing getaway in the Tuscan countryside!

  • 5 of 5

Incredible experience! My husband and our friends (3 couples) truly enjoyed this magical property. It sits on a hilltop overlooking gorgeous views of the Tuscan countryside. We were looking for a quiet getaway and this place offered a very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Our favorite part was dining al fresco on the beautiful patio area while sipping delicious wine. The pool was large and very private, we spent many afternoons here enjoying the warm weather! When we wanted to explore the area it was easy to head down the road where there are many shops and fabulous restaurants. It’s also very accessible to other wonderful towns like Sienna, San Gimignano, Pisa, or Lucca. So whether you want to relax at the villa or go on an excursion to visit other towns, this property and location is perfect! We can’t wait to come back!

A great place to stay in Chianti-Everything you'd ever need or want

  • 4 of 5

Last time we stayed in Greve was 10 years ago when the kids were just teenagers. We decided to return with our children in their 20's (& their partners) & staying at Andrea's was no disappointment. Finding a central villa wasn't easy for 10 but Castello Di Colognole ticked every box. Just a stroll down the hill to Greve or up to Montefiorelle made life easy for restaurants & groceries. Our special villa was also very convenient for drives to many historical & interesting places such as Sienna, San Gimignano, Pisa, Lucca, Cortona & many others. We met Giovanni when we first arrived & he made life easy by explaining all the wonderful facets of his family's villa. All rooms were beautifully appointed & all bathrooms, lounge areas, kitchen, laundry, pool etc were in great condition & fully functional. The Villa was also set on a beautiful parcel of land in the midst of Tuscany & vineyards so there was no urgency to explore further if you didn't want to. Many times we used the outdoor fresco areas to enjoy the local food, wine & the spectacular views.

Many thanks Andrea/Giovanni for sharing your beautiful villa. We will always have fond memories of our time spent in Greve. Scott & Wendy October 2017

Absolutely beautiful property

  • 5 of 5

Our family (3 adult couples + 2 single adults + 2 children) absolutely loved this house. It has many interior and exterior spaces for hanging out, the rooms are wonderfully cool with individual AC (very important in summer!!), the outdoor dining tables are fantastic, and of course the pool was refreshingly cool, private, and bigger than we imagined! The whole property overlooks beautiful vistas and we enjoyed magical sunsets every evening. It was extremely clean, the kitchen had everything we needed, Giovanni (Andrea's son) was an excellent host and communicator, and really there was nothing we lacked for or needed. As others have mentioned, the property is up a steep hill, so you do need a car to get into Greve or to explore the area, but we knew that and were prepared. You really shouldn't hesitate, this property gave us a wonderful stay for a very special family occasion. Thanks again Giovanni!

Perfect villa!

  • 5 of 5

This villa was a perfect base for our 6 night stay in Tuscany. We were 2 families (7 adults) and had plenty of room. We especially loved all the outdoor seating options! The views were amazing and the grounds were extremely well kept. The pool was a welcome treat after exploring the area on hot, sunny days. The location couldn't have been any better. It was very peaceful and quiet but a very short walk into Montefioralle which had a winery and two restaurants (we ate at one, Ristorante la Castellana, which was delicious). It's about a 15-20 minute walk into Greve in Chianti which has many restaurants, shops and a grocery store. The walk back is up a steep hill but the road is well paved. It was very easy to take the bus from Greve into Florence for a nice day trip. We booked this house not knowing anything about the area and relied on the other reviews. We are so happy we did! Everything from booking to check in to check out went so smoothly. Andrea quickly answered all of my emails and provided us with a wonderful packet of information about the house and area before we left. Our only regret was that we didn't stay longer!

Heart of Tuscany

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a villa in the heart of Tuscany look no further! This beautiful property is situated on a hill with amazing views of the olive groves and vineyards. Perfect for larger groups of 7-8 adults. We absolutely loved the accommodations and proximity to Florence and other sites. A short walk to Greve in Chianti for dinners and groceries made this complete.

Absolute Heaven!

  • 5 of 5

We could not have been more impressed with this part of our trip. The villa was located in the perfect position, between two wonderful villages, Greve and Montefioralle. Both within walking distance, had all the amenities and services we required. There was 5 adults and 3 children, and the villa was more than adequate to accommodate us. The grounds were immaculate, and the pool crystal clear. Housekeeping was there 3 times a week, and the house was kept very clean. We had an amazing time, had a cooking class and many lazy days by the pool.

Many thanks to Giovanni (Andrea's son), who even purchased some groceries for us as we were running late for our check in.

We would have no hesitation in recommending this villa to anyone, and look forward to future stays at this address.
