The Neighborhood

The Palm Arbor Suite is situated in the fabulous and Historic Old Northeast. The ONE as some call it. It is but a few blocks and a few minutes walk from eateries, cafes, taverns, cinema, Sundial shopping center, tampa bay beach, waterfront parks, bayside municipal pool, the Vinoy and the eclectic vibe of downtown St. Pete.

Most residents are on a high living in the Old Northeast, loving the community and its close proximity to our thriving downtown.

The New York Times says, 'This quiet residential neighborhood stuffed with old houses is the opposite of the happening downtown scene, which might just be its appeal. Those discovering this area, largely through word of mouth, say they love its sense of community while relishing the easy access to downtown. With its eclectic architecture, brick streets, picket fences and lush foliage, the neighborhood offers an odd blend of New England style and tropical sensibility. Despite its residential nature, it is just north of St. Petersburg’s downtown, making it convenient to the city’s booming cultural and entertainment scene. It also offers easy access for out-of-towners, since it is just 20 minutes from Tampa International Airport.

Guest Access

Downtown St. Petersburg's beautiful waterfront.

The city of St. Petersburg has long been known for its scenic bayfront and renowned art museums. In recent years, St. Pete has also emerged as a hot spot for shopping, art museums, dining, nightlife and entertainment. With 361 days of sunshine a year, a lively downtown area, and a full spectrum of things to see and do, it's no surprise that The New York Times named it a 'Top Place To Go' in 2014.

Downtown St. Petersburg: Arts, Culture & Entertainment

A hub for art and culture, downtown St. Pete is home to many notable fine art museums and galleries. The iconic Dali Museum displays artwork by the influential 20th-century surrealist Salvador Dali in a stunning building with a flowing geodesic dome known as the “Enigma.” Just down the street, the Chihuly Collection presented by Morean Arts Center features some of the most brilliant and intricate creations of famous glass artist Dale Chihuly. The collections in the Museum of Fine Arts showcase works by Monet, Gauguin, Renoir, O’Keeffe and many other beloved 18th- and 19th-century painters. Galleries lining the Central Avenue corridor include the Craftsman House Gallery, Crislip Arcade, ARTpool and the Morean Arts Center.

The Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Mahaffey Theater hosts major shows and entertainers. Built in 1925, the Palladium Theater is a performing arts venue that is, at once, intimate and majestic. The theater’s 880-seat Hough Concert Hall boasts a full-sized Skinner pipe organ. In addition, the American Stage Theatre Company, Freefall Theatre Company and Florida Orchestra are all located in downtown St. Pete. The St. Pete area is brimming with culture of all sorts. Travel + Leisure U.S. Summer Trip Ideas

These United States are diverse, imminently explore-able. With so many places to choose from, we’ve pulled together our picks and tricks for the ultimate American summer vacation

Destination: St. Petersburg/Clearwater, Florida

If your ideal summer getaway includes reading your favorite travel mag and a lot of R&R by the beach, then look no further than the beautiful beaches of St. Petersburg, Florida. With an abundance of arts, food and culture, St. Pete has got it all.

St. Petersburg, on Florida’s Gulf Coast, often goes overlooked in favor of its flashier neighbors like Orlando and Fort Lauderdale. Clearwater Beach boasts a slower summer season making this one of the most desirable summer getaways.

What to Do:

There’s a lot to see in St. Petersburg and there’s no better time or place to experience some true local color than by visiting the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club. One of the oldest and largest of its kind in the world, every Friday “The St. Pete Shuffle” is a free event complete with shuffleboard, live music, and food trucks.

Home to the largest, most comprehensive collection of Salvador Dali’s work in America, The Dali Museum has partnered with The Walt Disney Family Museum to announce “Disney and Dalí: Architects of the Imagination.”

Where to Eat:

St. Petersburg’s rapidly growing foodie scene goes well beyond seafood. The Gulf Coast’s Locale Market measures a whopping 20,000 square feet, while Brick & Mortar, a farm to fork restaurant with a rustic setting, and Frenchy’s, sited on the beach, are other must-visits.

In the heart of St. Petersburg, The Canopy comes complete with private cabanas and fire pits. Enjoy the surrounding views of Tampa Bay while sipping on one of their seasonal cocktails. If craft beer is more your style try one of the many local breweries along the St Pete Beer Trail, and Green Bench Brewery

About Richard Miller

Welcome to about me.

I was born, raised and educated in New York and have resided in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Long Island. Throughout my career I have had the pleasure of always dealing with the public.

With a new college degree in horticulture in hand , I opened and owned a chain of three Florist / Garden Centers for 11 years. I have always loved the earth and the bounty of beauty it provides in nature.

Entering the airline travel business, I have traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States for 20 years. As a travel professional, I had the opportunity in meeting people from all over the globe and assisting them with any number of requests and needs.

After discovering St. Petersburg over 35 years ago, I witnessed many wonderful changes. Now I am thrilled to call the city of St. Petersburg my home. My spouse and I over several years have acquired, improved and beautified some rental properties. I do hope to have the opportunity of having you as our Guest and to make your stay as comfortable and pleasurable as possible.

You will find everything you need in our Suite. Every attention to detail has been taken to ensure your stay is above and beyond the rest.

Richard Miller purchased this apartment in 2000

Why Richard Miller chose Historic Old Northeast

We fell in love with this property due to its charm and close proximity to the beaches and downtown. The Old Northeast is a lovely area of older Bungalows and estates. Next to my architecturally sweet craftsman bungalow, sits my triplex building where the Palm Arbor Suite is housed. Both buildings either have porches, balconies or front patios which is in keeping to our neighborhood, where you can spend time reading, people watching or chatting with neighbors and friends. The buildings have been renovated extensively but they have kept their original charm I fell in love with.

What makes this apartment unique

Walking distance to downtown and all which St. Petersburg has to offer. A designer kitchen you won't find in any other rental at this price. An ideal location for everything the area has to offer. Having patios and off street parking is a pleasure for our guests.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The perfect place for a quiet getaway. Richard has thought of everything his guests may need while staying in the suite. From beach accessories (towels and chairs) to a lunch bag if you need to keep something cool on the go, its there for you. The suite was exceptionally clean and well maintained. The private patio sitting area is great if you want to spend some time outside along or with friends. And you can't beat your own driveway just for your suite. If you into cooking there are cabinets full of pots, pans, cutting boards, cutlery, silverware, glass wear, plates, cups, a blender; anything you need for your stay. The neighborhood is quaint and quiet, no noise from neighbors at all. There were zero negatives to my month long stay in the suite, it was truly awesome. Finally, Richard is all about making sure his guests are happy, he met me when I arrive and I enjoyed a few messages from him during my stay to ensure everything was OK and that there were no problems. He also gave me some tips and local places to check out while I was in town. A great host!

Amazing, amazing and amazing

  • 5 of 5

It was a vacation that will be remembered by me And my wife. This little cute place was what we needed to relax and just soak in to the St.Pete local atmosphere. Our host Richard and his amazing property were the links that connected us with every experience we had there. Friendliness, positivism, wellcoming faces, good food and good weather. What else is there to ask for? Love. Love was present as well. Thank you Richard and St.Pete for having us. We will see you soon again.

Perfect home away from home

  • 5 of 5

What a perfect place to stay! Richard was so warm and helpful and responsive. The studio had everything I needed and more! It was clean, comfortable, private and in a perfect location. I can't imagine I would ever find a better place with so many amenities and outdoor space to enjoy at such a price. I will absolutely stay here again and have taken some of Richard's business cards to pass around up here in IL! Will recommend to all. Thank you so much Richard for the time and attention you obviously put into your lovely property. It shows that you really care about making a real home away from home possible for all travelers. Looking forward to visiting again!

Tropical Oasis!

  • 5 of 5

First folks, STOP and cross your fingers that this Owner has an opening (look at his other properties also). Barr none I have never had such fabulous treatment. That said it’s everything and more. The day one personal Meet n Greet was so wonderful. Went above and beyond on special touches to make my stay even more special. Absolutely loved the Tropical setting (word caution sprinklers may catch you heading out for an early morning walk-but felt refreshing). They provided some awesome spots to eat, told me to go to the Fresh Market (best I’ve ever been to). I’ve never stayed at a VRBO where I felt I came in a stranger and left feeling like a Friend! I wanted this little Studio or his one bedroom next door to move in permanently! I will suggest this Owners properties should any of my Family or Friends want a break. I felt at Home immediately and so will you. Sorry if my little Angel did a bit of barking, her way of saying Thank You for letting me vacation with my Mommy!!!! Thank you so much I’m overly appreciative and excited on this rental!!!! Love love love

Fantastic-beautiful setting, convenient, and super comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Everything you dream of having in a modern-era apartment, I found in this very cute studio near downtown St. Pete. Amazingly it all fit in there. The place was super quiet (I'm a light sleeper), extremely well equipped (I'm a gourmet cook), and the hosts very attentive (I travel a lot). Bottom line, it is much more than what it is described as in the ad. The foliage is exceptional offering total privacy, and the cute little garden very European and classy. You have your own off-street parking which you most definitely want in NE St. Pete. Walking distance to Starbucks, less than a mile from Trader Joe's, and a short walk down to the waterfront park system. I loved the whole experience and would highly recommend it.

Owner's Response: Thankyou Sarah, Thanks so much for being a guest with us. I appreciate you taking the time to write such a pleasant review. I agree our location to everything here in St Petersburg is the best. The Old Northeast is the most coveted place to live due to its close proximity to all. Yes I tried to carefully furnish the Suite with comfort and an eye for little details and furnishings everyone needs in a vacation rental. Such gratification that you had such a lovely time here, and such a pleasure meeting you. Richard

Perfectly located this property is in the middle of it all!!!

  • 5 of 5

This property is located in the middle of everything. Especially if you are looking for more than just the beach scene. With just a minutes walk to downtown, you are in the heart of the city with almost anything your looking to do. It is a great place to getaway with all the convienince to do whatever your heart pleases.

Richard met us just a little after we arrived and made sure we had everything we needed. We even texted him a couple of times during the week to ask for recommendations on places to go. He gave us thoughtful recommendations that would probably be more informative than most St. Pete's vacation guides. When it comes to your stay, don't worry if you forget anything because Richard has thought of it all. Everything and I mean everything is there in case you need it. He completely sets the standard as it relates to customer service. I only wish that he could own every property that we visit in our future. We will certainly be staying at his place again!!

Owner's Response: WOW, I've got to say this is one of the nicest reviews I've had the pleasure of receiving. Thanks so much for the kind words. Nice to know the little details are appreciated. I've traveled extensively in my careers and always reflect back on what would have made my stays a bit more special. So you find my version of what I consider special at Palm Arbor Suites". I look forward to your return. I only wish I could have added a bit more Sunshine to your stay while you were here. I'll see what I can do with the weather next time.......
