About John

I travelled here almost 40 years ago on business and I have been hooked ever since. We bought this piece of property as a vacation home and been coming ever since with my family. We have made many memories here, and as I am getting older I am not able to visit as often as I would like so we decided to start renting it out.

Why John chose Adirondacks

This is a beautiful place to visit, really gives you the cabin feel with modern amenities. It is a place to 'get away from it all' and spend time with family and friends. There are plenty of things to do each season from boating, to skiing, to hiking, to just relaxing.

What makes this cabin unique

The deck is a wonderful place to watch out over the lake and see wildlife. The views are breathtaking!

This was a wonderful home for our family of 7. We enjoyed the fishing on the lake and kakaking.

Beautiful lakefront experience!

  • 5 of 5

Having seen the property in the winter with a little snow, experiencing the beauty of summer was even better! The quality of the home, its furnishings, landscaping and view are worth every cent. Our family had a wonderful time and celebrating the Fourth watching fireworks around the lake was magical. 99% of the time it was very quiet (a neighbor two houses down ran a loud large truck for house renovation half a day and our last morning); accessibility to hiking, the Adirondack Experience museum and other lakes in the area is great.

The only issues we wish was better were the quality of the cooking related items - bowls, measuring cups, plates and related dishes. Fortunately, I brought a few baking casserole dishes and disposable pans...if you enjoy cooking, I suggest bringing what you need.

Having a little more information about recycling, garbage pick up days and local restaurants in Indian Lake and nearby would be helpful.

Be sure to know the bed configuration in advance as king and one full downstairs, two queens upstairs. The basement room is very comfortable as a "suite" with two bunks and pullout sofa, bathroom and laundry room.

Providing some watercraft for renters - canoe, kayak or other - would really make the package complete.

Again, it was an overall wonderful stay and we would definitely consider booking again. Thanks, John, for providing such a wonderful home and location!

Beautiful House, Great Peaceful Area

  • 5 of 5

Great Adirondack location, lots of moderate hiking nearby as well as places to put your feet or boat in the water. The house was well maintained, great layout, comfortable beds, and the views of the lake never got old. Owner was very responsive.

Just as advertized

  • 4 of 5

Our family - which included 4 adult children enjoyed a great week at this property. It was such a relief to arrive Saturday to see that the photos matched what we saw in person. We were not disappointed. Having 3 bathrooms was a bonus when there are several adults! The beach area and the deck were perfect for restful afternoons sitting by the water and enjoying the sunshine. The camp was easy to locate. Indian Lake is a quiet town but close enough to Blue Mountain Lake and the Adirondack Museum . It is also relatively close to other Adirondack destinations if you are looking for a day trip in the event of inclement weather and you do not want to spend the day at camp. The property owner was easy to work with and responsive. If you are looking for a quiet and comfortable week away in the Adirondacks, I would recommend this location and property.

Perfect summer kayaking retreat in a beautiful Adirondack house directly on the lake

  • 5 of 5

5 Adults stayed and had plenty of room in this airy, bright house which also has a large deck for stargazing and listening to the Loons. Large kitchen well stocked with pots, plates and glasses, all you really need are your clothes. We spent evenings sitting by the fire pit and again listening to the Loons. There are many lakes in the area to explore for kayaking or hiking. Inside there's WiFi and direct TV for bad weather days. Or visit the Adirondack Museum. Tom the caretaker was helpful as well.

In the cute town of Indian Lake is the Indian Lake Restaurant and Pub which was surprisingly good. But make reservations in high season.

Only negatives are: master bedroom was musty and we needed to change the bedding. The carpets and floors could be cleaner. Being on the lake it's understandable that things get musty but a dehumidifier would go a long way.

All in all, great house and highly recommend it for a family or group of friends.
