La Casa Del Bella: A Beautiful home base for Costa Rican Adventure *PRIVATE POOL

Bedrooms 1
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Open Floor Plan With Loft - Sleeps 4-5. Private Pool & Patio. Guarded Community.

Casa del Bella is a dream come true for us after many years visiting and surfing Costa Rica. We designed the villa specifically to keep in pace with the simple CR lifestyle, yet tastefully furnished and accessorized to accommodate all. The house has an open floor plan with many windows accentuating an indoor/outdoor experience. The sleeping loft has 2 pillow top queen size beds to accommodate 4 guests. A fifth adventurous guest could sleep on the cozy couch downstairs. The full bathroom boasts a large stone hot shower with linens provided. Kitchen is fully equipped with all the necessities for the guest chef. (Recommendations can be made for fresh fruit and vegetable markets and supermarkets in the local area) Cable TV & DVD player, wireless internet and I-pod/CD player are supplied to enhance your stay. AC is remote controlled and, combined with the ceiling fans, make for a great night sleep during the hot season. A separate bodega houses the full size washer and dryer for your convenience day or night.

Moving outside, our lot sits near the end of guarded neighborhood. The house and pool are nestled into the back portion of the lot, which provides privacy during your stay. The landscape surrounding the pool area is a designated green zone and seems to be a meeting place for all the local animals. We have spotted white face monkeys, macaws, toucans, parrots and sloths many times before a second cup of coffee. Your private pool is the perfect size to relax and enjoy the sun or afternoon shade. The covered patio offers relief from the sun or shelter from tropical rainstorms, complete with hammocks and outdoor dining furniture. Behind the bodega you will find an outdoor shower which is a perfect 'clean up' solution when returning from the nearby beach or a hike on the local trails.

About Kate Stewart

Hi, I'm Kate and I live with my boyfriend Ron and our two pups, Bella and Mick. When we aren't able to be down enjoying the sun and surf in Costa Rica, we are skiing and biking in beautiful Utah.

I am a Utah Native, and Ron grew up in sunny Southern California. Ron moved to Utah about 20 years ago for work, but has never lost his desire to be in the ocean, which lead us to Costa Rica where we both fell madly in love with the beauty and the people.

We are 'two peas in a pod' and can't sit still very long. We love to be on the go visiting new places or tackling some crazy home renovation project. In the past 10 years we have moved 7 times, and hope to someday retire in Costa Rica.

Kate Stewart purchased this house in 2004

Why Kate Stewart chose Playa Hermosa

Costa Rica, with it's rich eco system and amazing surf, has always been our favorite destination (and we've been a lot of places). Having the opportunity to own a small home there is a dream come true. We love the slow pace, beauty, friendliness and warmth of Costa Rica and it's people. When we found Opera Salvaje, we knew we wanted to be a part of the growing community. We've made life long friendships with people from all over the world since choosing to buy our home in Costa Rica. It's truly our home away from home.

What makes this house unique

What we love best about this home is that we designed it…top to bottom…to fit a simple lifestyle. We are just two people, so a single room design, where we could enjoy the outdoors even while indoors, was the concept we embraced. We enjoy spending time outside, even during a rainstorm, so having the large covered patio and dual french doors was key. The property sits next to a designated green zone so we will never have a human neighbor. However, the green zone is home to every Costa Rican creature you can hope to see during a visit, we don't even need to leave the house.

Lovely House with Private Pool

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had a wonderful time at La Casa Del Bella. The house is close enough to visit Manuel Antonio National Park, go rafting on the Savegre River, visit the town of Jaco, eat at lots of delicious restaurants and really experience the country and people of Costa Rica. The pool was very refreshing and the grounds and jungle surrounding the pool are lovely. The house is cute and clean and worked out well for my husband and me. Kate was very friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend staying at this house if you are visiting this part of Costa Rica.

Loved My Private Oasis

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful place to get away from it all and just relax. Waking up with the birds, having coffee on the patio and then a dip in the pool was my favorite way to start my day. William was an absolute wonderful person and went above and beyond to make sure my stay was more than perfect. I want to thank Kate for opening her home to me and my family. I am very sorry that you are selling. If I had the means I would surely make it mine.

Gorgoues piece of paradise

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here as part of our honeymoon in Costa Rica. This was our second stop and we fell even more in love with the country here. The pool was a wonderful addition, and was nice on the sunny and rainy afternoons we spent here. Sitting in the hammock under the roof with a book listening to the rain was heavenly. The neighbors dog was probably my favorite surprise, she was so friendly and I just loved her. The house was everything we needed, and about 15 mins from downtown Jaco. Playa Hermosa beach is stunning. We definitely loved it here and wish we had had more time. We hope to return. Thank you Kate for sharing your beautiful home and piece of paradise with us. Pura Vida!

Looking for relaxation? Look no further

  • 4 of 5

This home is the perfect home for a couple that is looking to literally get away from it all. Our first day, the entire country was without power so we spent the afternoon relaxing in the hammocks and floating in the refreshing pool. That afternoon 2 wild macaws landed in the tree tops across from the pool. A few minutes later, we heard a rustling in the trees and a group of white faced capuchin monkeys took over the trees. It was incredible. We enjoyed having coffee and breakfast daily on the patio waiting to see what nature would bring to us next. Our only regret is that we did not rent some sort of transportation to get into town. Although the bikes are nice to have, getting to any store or restaurant is a chore and you have to be on the busy highway for a small stretch. (the ride back is ALL uphill) Enjoyed having the convenience of the kitchen with all the essential tools. The stairs leading up to the loft are very steep, if you are someone that wakes up frequently in the middle of the night, you may want to consider sleeping on the comfy couch downstairs. While in Costa we used Adventure Tours for airport transfers and 2 excursions. 4-hour booze cruise and a half day ATV tour. Both days they picked us up at the house to start the tours! Very friendly Ticos and a wealth of knowledge! We enjoyed an amazing dinner at Vida Hermosa on our last night while taking in a spectacular sunset. Jaco was not at all what we expected and was very commercialized and run down. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the house. We live in the Florida Keys and to us it was like a little bit of our own paradise with the smokey mountains thrown in! Pura Vida!

La Casa del Bella was heaven on earth! It was the perfect place to relax and recoup from our daily activities. It sits in the perfect location on the edge of the jungle. We had complete privacy. It was far enough away from the busy towns and tourism but close enough to everything we wanted to do. We also loved the local restaurants. If we return to Costa Rica in the future I think we will consider staying here again!

Playa Hermosa is a quaint stretch of beach 15 minutes from the hustling town of Jaco. It is widely known as one of the most consistent surf spots in the world, offering surf ranging from beginner to professional. This region also boasts an array of outdoor activities from eco tourism, world class sport fishing, surf fishing, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, ATV adventures, diving, paddle boarding, crocodile tours, zip lines adventures through the jungle, white face monkeys, macaws, toucans, parrots, sloths…and I haven't even gotten to the national parks housing the most beautiful rain forests, waterfalls and volcanoes on the planet. A week is never enough, but it's a good start!
