I grew up in the Midwest but chose Newport, VT because of it's proximity to the natural beauty of the outdoors. Downtown Newport is on an isthmus which separates the north and south bays of Lake Memphremagog, an international lake which extends into Canada for 27 miles. Even from this downtown location, one can often hear loons calling as they fly from bay to bay. There are several good restaurants and other basic shopping which can be reached by foot from this location.
I love to travel and experience new cultures and people and can get by (stiltingly!) in several languages including French, Italian, Spanish and German.
Ruth Sproull purchased this apartment in 2014
Vita Huset is under a 200-year-old red oak tree which towers over the property. The carriage house was originally used as a stable and when we restored it, we discovered hay in the upper level! The house has been completed restored and updated for modern use.
Walk to everything in the downtown location
Property was very clean and well-organized. Ruth was always available for questions or anything we might need. The area is close to lots of great activities and must be gorgeous in the summer. Thanks for a great stay.
