About the property

2 Bedroom, 1 Bath with Mountain Fork River Access and close to Broken Bow Lake

Luxury vacation rental Cabin in Smithville, Oklahoma, just north of Broken Bow Lake. Legacy Trails is right on the Upper Mountain Fork river that feeds Broken Bow and is a short 3.5 hour drive from the DFW area. This 1010 sq. ft. cabin, built in the summer of 2014, has 2 bedrooms and 1 bath and has a beautiful hillside view overlooking forest and a spring-fed creek. It has a full kitchen and even has a utility room with washer and dryer. It sleeps 4 people comfortably and has a queen bed in one room and a double bed in the other. We also have a cot and there is the couch, of course, if you want to bring a couple more people. There is also a great flat spot down by the creek if the kids want to tent camp!

About Paul Granier

My family of four have lived in the North Dallas area for the better part of 20 years. All of us have grown up in Texas and my wife and I have gone to university in Texas. And now we run a staffing/search firm in Dallas. We like getting away from it all from time to time and this is one of the main reasons we bought this fantastic cabin.

Paul Granier purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Paul Granier chose Oklahoma

We bought this cabin because we were looking for a quick getaway place near water that was within easy reach of Dallas. We had looked and looked but had never found a place that had an attractive lake, a great lot and a beautiful cabin on it. When I saw this one, I knew that that we had found the one we had been looking for and bought it immediately. This cabin, bought brand new in 2014, was built with personal pride that shows. It is immaculately furnished. It sits on 2.8 acres of mostly wooded land. And the 30-acre Legacy Trails neighborhood will be all vacation rental cabins set on 2-3 acres each with views of trees, rolling hills, creeks, wildlife and the Upper Mountain Fork river. Trust me, I am sure you will love it as much as we did when we discovered it.

What makes this cabin unique

If you want a secluded, peaceful getaway that is still close to the action, look no further. This cabin is set on 2.8 acres and is completely private. The view from the back deck is amazing and the Mountain Fork River is accessible from two different locations. Fishermen will love this location, for sure. Also, when the river is briskly flowing, it makes for an incredible kayaking experience. Check out the pictures to get a feel for the various river conditions.

The cabin is very high end and the beautiful workmanship on both the inside and the outside of the cabin are simply amazing. Just check out the pictures of the family room and kitchen!

There are many outside sitting areas. From the full length front porch with swing, the back porch for those that only want a 'little' nature to the fire pit area for those that truly want to 'feel' the outdoors. Make sure to look up at night and see the stars like you have never seen before.

The master bedroom has a queen bed and the second bedroom has a full size bed. There is also a full-length couch, love seat and a cot for guests that need to sleep more than 4. The kitchen is fully equipped with the latest in appliances and conveniences and there is even a laundry room with a full size washer and dryer.

And being the gadget guy that I am, I could not do without an excellent surround sound system and Blu-ray DVD player. There is a whole assortment of movies and games to choose from, but no satellite TV service. Didn't you come here to enjoy the outdoors anyway?

But for those of you that cannot live without internet, wireless internet is available (please limit video streaming to one movie per day).

As far as phone service, AT&T Wireless and Pine Cellular work well from within the cabin.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We had a great stay. Thank you! Thank you for making our first Valentine's Day so great. We really appreciate the heart shaped decorations and the chocolates. Hope to come again soon.

Wonderful relaxing getaway!

We had a wonderful time at this cabin. We needed a few days to decompress and unplug, and this location was perfect. The cabin was comfortable, clean, and extremely well-equipped. Thank you!

Very nice and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful property and well maintained. Come prepared though it is about a 40 min. drive to groceries, gas or restaurant (other than a Dollar General or Mountain Creek store which has a GREAT Cheeseburger and sweet tea). Bring a steak or something to grill over the provided Hickory wood. The Fireflies really put on a show for us. Definitely a place to come back to(better prepared next time).

Owner's Response: Thanks for the nice review and we are really glad you enjoyed your stay! Yes, I would definitely recommend stocking up before arriving at the cabin. But Dollar General is a great new addition to the area and the Mountain Store has a good restaurant and CJ's Corner has some great BBQ. All three of these are 3-5 miles from the cabin. Good places to get groceries are in Broken Bow, OK or Mena, AR on your way in...

Perfect for us and our dogs!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin has a fantastic front yard! Plenty big enough for activities with the kids or dogs. Lots and lots of grass out front to play catch (or fetch) or kick a ball. Easy access on both sides of the house to the hilly back yard with deck and fire pit and grill. Below that is a creek on the property (there's actually two creeks, plus there's a natural spring at the bottom of the hill by the camping spot). Beyond all that it's a short hike through the woods to the river (which was too high this weekend to expose any beach), but access to the kayaks at the neighboring property wasn't hampered by the high water. There is plenty of cut firewood to make a campfire every night, and upon our arrival we found laid out all the fixings for a fire; tinder, twigs, sticks, logs all in neat little piles by the fire pit to make it as easy as possible that first night!

We traveled to Beavers Bend State Park two different days, the first spent canoeing and fishing and the second fishing and hiking. Our dogs came along for it all. Saturday it rained so we stayed inside all day and just hung out and watched DVD's that were already in the cabin. While we didn't stream any movies, the internet in the cabin was plenty fast enough for you tube videos, facebook, emails, etc. The cabin had everything we needed for our four day stay. Just bring some groceries, your family and some clothes and you're all set!

Peaceful cabin hidden from it all with all the amenities you need without leaving.

  • 5 of 5

This new cabin was an unexpected surprise. Very nice décor and furniture with a peaceful location. There are other properties on site, but you can't even see them once your at the cabin. Very relaxing on the outside deck and extremely quiet at night. There aren't a lot of activities in the area, but you are only a 30 minute drive to the Beavers Bend Rec area. But this place is perfect for a weekend getaway if your idea is a little R and R.
