About Paul Granier

My family of four have lived in the North Dallas area for the better part of 20 years. All of us have grown up in Texas and my wife and I have gone to university in Texas. And now we run a staffing/search firm in Dallas. We like getting away from it all from time to time and this is one of the main reasons we bought this fantastic cabin.

Paul Granier purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Paul Granier chose Oklahoma

We bought this cabin because we were looking for a quick getaway place near water that was within easy reach of Dallas. We had looked and looked but had never found a place that had an attractive lake, a great lot and a beautiful cabin on it. When I saw this one, I knew that that we had found the one we had been looking for and bought it immediately. This cabin, bought brand new in 2014, was built with personal pride that shows. It is immaculately furnished. It sits on 2.8 acres of mostly wooded land. And the 30-acre Legacy Trails neighborhood will be all vacation rental cabins set on 2-3 acres each with views of trees, rolling hills, creeks, wildlife and the Upper Mountain Fork river. Trust me, I am sure you will love it as much as we did when we discovered it.

What makes this cabin unique

If you want a secluded, peaceful getaway that is still close to the action, look no further. This cabin is set on 2.8 acres and is completely private. The view from the back deck is amazing and the Mountain Fork River is accessible from two different locations. Fishermen will love this location, for sure. Also, when the river is briskly flowing, it makes for an incredible kayaking experience. Check out the pictures to get a feel for the various river conditions.

The cabin is very high end and the beautiful workmanship on both the inside and the outside of the cabin are simply amazing. Just check out the pictures of the family room and kitchen!

There are many outside sitting areas. From the full length front porch with swing, the back porch for those that only want a 'little' nature to the fire pit area for those that truly want to 'feel' the outdoors. Make sure to look up at night and see the stars like you have never seen before.

The master bedroom has a queen bed and the second bedroom has a full size bed. There is also a full-length couch, love seat and a cot for guests that need to sleep more than 4. The kitchen is fully equipped with the latest in appliances and conveniences and there is even a laundry room with a full size washer and dryer.

And being the gadget guy that I am, I could not do without an excellent surround sound system and Blu-ray DVD player. There is a whole assortment of movies and games to choose from, but no satellite TV service. Didn't you come here to enjoy the outdoors anyway?

But for those of you that cannot live without internet, wireless internet is available (please limit video streaming to one movie per day).

As far as phone service, AT&T Wireless and Pine Cellular work well from within the cabin.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We had a great stay. Thank you! Thank you for making our first Valentine's Day so great. We really appreciate the heart shaped decorations and the chocolates. Hope to come again soon.

Easy Weekend Getaway

  • 4 of 5

We were looking for an easy weekend getaway. The cabin was larger and more open than expected which was a pleasant surprise. The back was nice, quite and private. If the neighbors in the front had been there I think we would have heard and seen them but no one was there the weekend we were there.

Well stocked kitchen with the tools you need. I wish there had been toiletries (shampoo, soap, conditioner) but otherwise we had what we needed.

Beautiful cabin in the Kiamichi Mountains

  • 4 of 5

The description on VRBO is entirely accurate. This cabin is amazing with a beautiful interior, great layout and super comfortable furnishings. Every detail was considered with tile floors throughout, modern kitchen, etc. The location is scenic, remote and peaceful. The upper Mountain Fork River is wild and beautiful and offers fishing, paddling and adventure. Those not familiar with these types of streams should do their homework to understand the opportunities and limitations of these unspoiled waters. Those willing to do some paddling upstream will be rewarded with unspoiled views and pretty good fishing. Water levels fluctuate with the seasons and rains.

Everyone involved with the property management was helpful and readily available.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the nice review and we are so glad that you enjoyed our cabin! I also wanted to update everyone on a few changes in the works. First, we now have city water available and are converting in the next week or two. This will take care of the sulfur smell that is typical of water wells. And second, a Dollar General has been opened up within a couple of miles of the cabin. So, there is now a great place to buy essentials at a good price. This should make future stays at our cabin even better!

Beautiful

  • 4 of 5

The only reason I didn't give this beautiful cabin a 5 star is because of it's location. It is about a 30 min drive back to Beavers Bend/Broken Bow area. If you are going to the lake every day (like we did), the drive got longer each time. Make sure you bring your groceries with you or stop at Pruett's in Broken Bow on the way in. The day we left, the Dollar General opened just at the end of the road. Would have been nice if it had opened earlier in the week. Also make sure you bring you own drinking water and grab a few gallons at the store as the water out of the faucet has a horrible smell. Everything about the cabin was really nice and clean. The view is beautiful and peaceful. Enjoyed our stay.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the nice review and I am really glad you enjoyed your stay! And yes, we are very excited about the Dollar General opening up in Smithville, only a couple miles from our cabin. WATER UPDATE: The cabin was on well water, so that is the reason people talked about a sulfur water smell. But the great news is that city water just became available and we have contractors onsite the week of Aug 22, 2016 to convert to city water. So, no more well water issues :)

Beautiful new cabin

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful, clean, well-appointed cabin. Setting was beautiful-on the side of a hill, we enjoyed the view from the back porch and ate meals on the patio. Owners had everything we needed, and came by to make sure we were comfortable. Our family enjoyed the cabin and kayaking on the nearby river. Highly recommend!

An excellent get away weekend spot

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time my wife and I have rented this property. It is exactly as described. We chose this cabin because it was pet friendly and an easy drive from the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.

The cabin was built in 2014 so it is like new. The construction and furnishings are very well done. You have everything you need for a nice stay. We spent time on the nearby river and went on several hikes in the area. I would definitely recommend this to friends and family.

We enjoyed it so much we purchased a cabin and are having it built in the same area.
