Perfect place for a guys weekend
We are a group of 9 guys (7 travelling this year) who have been going on a yearly "camping" trip for almost 25 years. We have stayed in everything from tents to a lake-house and I have to say this place was perfect for our needs.
A great big fire-pit, a very serviceable kitchen, room for everyone to sit at the table, a bed for each camper, there was nothing missing. After 25 years we are all professionals with families and perhaps the best feature was NO CELL SERVICE! They have a land line with a number for emergencies so you are not completely cut off but it was nice to be unplugged for the weekend. On a rainy Saturday all 7 of us easily fit on the couches and chairs in the living room to watch the Mizzou-Bama game with a roaring fire in the fireplace.
The owner needs to get a better set of pictures on here because what he has does not do this home justice. The interior is very large and the bedrooms are sensibly placed with 3 downstairs and 3.5 upstairs. Everything is clean and new with multiple TV's, a huge fireplace and a wired in-wall sound system throughout the first floor and outside.
Having only two bathrooms was not a challenge for us although i would think with full families staying here it could cause a jam.
The surrounding countryside is beautiful and arrival via dirt road adds to the charm. We fished the pond and caught a couple of 12" bass and a ton of bluegill. Saw lots of wildlife and a panorama of stars you can only see far out in the country. The caretakers were friendly and responsive to our needs. The only thing i would change would be to pull the trash compactor and put in an ice maker. (just an idea!)
The guys are already taking about coming back next year and you can be sure we will be getting our date on the calendar ASAP.
Thanks to Mike for everything, looking forward to coming back.
Nice quiet get-a-way.
We took a group of 12 adults, and had a wonderful time. The home and furnishings were better than expected. Everything we needed was provided. We enjoyed fishing, ping-pong and games inside and out. The only thing missing is a place to cool off in July. The pond is not suitable for swimming--neither is the creek that is nearby. Be prepared to check out of social media as cell signal and their wifi is intermittent at best. Overall we had a wonderful time.
Great place, Owner slow to refund
The Good: The Party Barn was perfect for our family stay for a wedding. It was close and allowed all of us to come together from TX, WI & MO. Good kitchen facility that even allowed us to make a fantastic wedding cake. A great place for a large group.
The Bad: There was a gas smell from ATVs stored in first floor that required us to leave the doors open to air out the smell.
The Ugly: We paid for the stay in full 6 months in advance. We cancelled one day of the stay 3 months before our stay. It is now nearly 3 months after and still no refund. Owner keeps saying he is working on it, but cannot get the VRBO system to work. He did refund the security deposit within days of our departure. The refund should have happened immediately upon request. Not sure what my next steps are to get the refund.
Perfect for our large group. Very spacious and had more than enough to keep us entertained. Lovely surroundings, spectacular night sky; fire pits; spacious balconies all added up to a very comfortable stay.
We had a wonderful time on our trip. The property is absolutely gorgeous and provided our family with exactly what we needed: a trip to unwind and relax. The lodge is setup perfectly for large groups (we had 8 adults and 1 child). All basic amenities were provided and then some. The owners did an excellent job communicating and getting us all the information we needed. Be prepared to "disconnect" as cell service is spotty and WIFI wasn't too reliable, but we didn't care as we were trying to get away from all of that! It was good enough that we could stay in touch if needed. The property was great for all kinds of outdoor activities, we fished, walked, grilled, made bonfires and enjoyed time on the deck. It's also only a 40 minute drive to Hermann, so we took a day trip for lunch and stopped at the wineries there. We'd highly recommend this lodge and look forward to returning in the future!
As our family has grown and gone our separate ways we have set it up to get together every 4 years. It is often difficult to find a place that can accommodate all the kids, grandkids, etc. The Crider Creek Lodge was the perfect getaway for us. In many ways it resembled our parents place and made us feel right at home. We loved all being able to be under one roof with ample space to move around and things to do. The kids took many walks in the woods and explored things. The backyard area was perfect with the horseshoe pit, fire pit, and area to play some games that we brought like Spike ball and Kan Jam. Inside there were plenty of bedrooms for the adults to all have their own rooms and the kids used the loft area. And the table areas were perfect for playing board/card games. It is definitely a place that we will consider reserving again.
