Great place, Owner slow to refund
The Good: The Party Barn was perfect for our family stay for a wedding. It was close and allowed all of us to come together from TX, WI & MO. Good kitchen facility that even allowed us to make a fantastic wedding cake. A great place for a large group.
The Bad: There was a gas smell from ATVs stored in first floor that required us to leave the doors open to air out the smell.
The Ugly: We paid for the stay in full 6 months in advance. We cancelled one day of the stay 3 months before our stay. It is now nearly 3 months after and still no refund. Owner keeps saying he is working on it, but cannot get the VRBO system to work. He did refund the security deposit within days of our departure. The refund should have happened immediately upon request. Not sure what my next steps are to get the refund.
Perfect for our large group. Very spacious and had more than enough to keep us entertained. Lovely surroundings, spectacular night sky; fire pits; spacious balconies all added up to a very comfortable stay.
We had a wonderful time on our trip. The property is absolutely gorgeous and provided our family with exactly what we needed: a trip to unwind and relax. The lodge is setup perfectly for large groups (we had 8 adults and 1 child). All basic amenities were provided and then some. The owners did an excellent job communicating and getting us all the information we needed. Be prepared to "disconnect" as cell service is spotty and WIFI wasn't too reliable, but we didn't care as we were trying to get away from all of that! It was good enough that we could stay in touch if needed. The property was great for all kinds of outdoor activities, we fished, walked, grilled, made bonfires and enjoyed time on the deck. It's also only a 40 minute drive to Hermann, so we took a day trip for lunch and stopped at the wineries there. We'd highly recommend this lodge and look forward to returning in the future!
As our family has grown and gone our separate ways we have set it up to get together every 4 years. It is often difficult to find a place that can accommodate all the kids, grandkids, etc. The Crider Creek Lodge was the perfect getaway for us. In many ways it resembled our parents place and made us feel right at home. We loved all being able to be under one roof with ample space to move around and things to do. The kids took many walks in the woods and explored things. The backyard area was perfect with the horseshoe pit, fire pit, and area to play some games that we brought like Spike ball and Kan Jam. Inside there were plenty of bedrooms for the adults to all have their own rooms and the kids used the loft area. And the table areas were perfect for playing board/card games. It is definitely a place that we will consider reserving again.
Beautiful restored barn on lovely property.
My family rented this place to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday. We needed lots of room for this "girls" weekend as we had 21 people throughout the weekend. The place was large enough to have a place for everyone to lay their head. The property was neat and well maintained. We had one issue with the toilet not flushing because of a rusted out chain, but the caretaker promptly replaced it. This would be a great place to gather for a family, a girls weekend, or a retreat. Peaceful, great scenery and a beautifully decorated place. We will definitely return!
Beautiful Location - extreme solitude! traffic is near zero - internet service is zero
Beautiful location / home - property - wildlife - fishing - trails and cool creek to wade in absolutely no regrets just peaceful and serine. House was plenty large - more than enough room for our 16 and then some if needed, all amenities in home were great- short on towels and was instructed not to drink water - use for anything but no drink - they supplied bottled so it was ok. Also new satellite service had been installed, every bed room had TV but only kitchen and living room worked on satellite all the rest were functional but no live TV. Kids played all board games - cards - was just great time all around.
Pond was great - was also told to keep an eye out for lures and hooks all /any normal fishing stuff that might have gotten lost in water so - for us all normal and let me say kids were in pond a lot and water was fresh - spring feed so all good.
Due to internet service issue - meaning there was none through any hotspot or individual phone, including resetting the router more times than can be counted I was forced to unplug. Let me say this is the first time in at least 10yrs I have had to disconnect from the internet and let it go - just be on vacation, it was difficult for sure but after accepting that fact it was not going to get better than it was - I just enjoyed vacation and the solitude.
Nothing bad - Negative to say great place!
