Located at Overlook Village, it's only an 8 minute drive to the Top of the World parking lot at Snowshoe.
The name of the condo, The Form, is taken from the the small burrows that Snowshoe hares retreat to during their inactive times. A place that's quiet, safe, relaxing, warm and comfortable.
Snowshoe offers the best skiing conditions I've been able to find in this region but day trips to and from Snowshoe were very long, tiring days. It's so nice to ski all day and then retreat to a nice quiet, warm, comfortable place to relax and unwind.
In the off seasons, there is still a lot of activity in and around Snowshoe with mountain biking, the Greenbrier trail, hiking, Cass Scenic railroad tours, the National Radio Observatory, and Raven Golf course located just a mile from the condo.
Awesome all around bang for your buck. Definitely will come back.
We are older folks that enjoy nice clean and well appointed accommodation...without breaking the bank! We were very pleased with the communications from the owner, Tom, and his followup. He even drove 3 hours to correct a problem with the phone/internet service. We enjoyed our visit with him. This is a small condo and would be fantastic for a couple or small family. However, there were four of us. My wife and I enjoyed the queen sized bed while our other family members enjoyed the sofa and air mattress for sleeping. I have absolutely no negative comments about the condo or how our business was handled with Tom and VRBO.
I would point out that there were ongoing issues, daily, with the hot tub. While it is just a nice residential unit, we were disappointed that we were only able to use it one night out of seven! We believe there were maintenance issues...since it was cold and low on water. We also noted that on one evening it had a garden hose in it. It would have been nice had there been a courtesy sign placed there to let the Overlook Village guests know there was a problem.
Again, we extend our thanks and gratitude to Tom and condo # 35. We enjoyed our visit and will return.
The property was exactly as represented with all the comforts and cleanliness that I would hope for. Would definitely consider staying here again. During this particular stay our upstairs neighbor was less than considerate, but this could be the situation anywhere. Loved this location!
Overall a great experience! Not far from Snowshoe mountain. Well equipped and owner very punctual with reserving the condo! Definitely recommend to others!
Everything was as expected and very nice. Perfect get away especially if you like to snowboard.
This is a great little place. We've stayed at Silver Creek, Top of the World, and Mountain Lodge and this place is the best deal for the dollar. It has been renovated very nicely and kept clean with nice furniture and basic amenities. It does take a few minutes to drive to Top of the World where public parking is located, and I would recommend 4WD if the weather is inclement and layering the roads. But right down the street you can get basic groceries, food, gas, Subway and more. So that is very nice, because up on the mountain, no way you will find these conveniences. I think 4 adults would have to be pretty good and close friends but there is enough room for everyone to eat, sleep and hang out. Oh, and the hot tub is HOT! Felt great after skiing all day. I would definitely stay here again.
Snowshoe is known for its great skiing, restaurants, shopping, and winter fun but during the off-season there are a lot of other fun things to do in Pocahontas County, West Virginia. Mountain biking trails for riders of all levels, zipline, Polaris tours, and scenic lift rides are all right at Snowshoe. Visit www.snowshoemtn.com for more information.
Cass Scenic Railroad State Park is located within 15 minutes from the Overlook condo. Cass began as a company town for those who worked for West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company, logging the nearby Cheat Mountain. Cass's laborers worked in the mill or the locomotive repair shop and lived with their families in white-fenced houses, built in orderly rows on a hill south of the general store. Cass now has population of around 50. Many of slopes and lifts at Snowshoe take their names from logging and railroad. This town is certainly worth the 15 minute drive. Be sure to park in the parking area and walk to the mill which is at the far end of the lot. It is amazing to imagine it as a working mill. In the Fall, Cass has steam locomotive excursions. Check their website for details. www.cassrailroad.com
National Radio Observatory - About 10 minutes past Cass, as you're driving along Route 66 to Route 92, look out your window to the left and you'll see cattle, barns, and a HUGE radio telescope. In fact, it's the world's largest movable telescope. Continue on to Green Bank by making a left on Route 92 and you'll find the visitor's center with observatory tours and a science museum.
Raven Golf course in located within a mile of Overlook. Designed by Gary Player, it is rated one of the top courses in the East by Golf Magazine.
