Very romantic, sunny studio in the heart of Dorsoduro, very close to the Campo Santa Margherita: the center of the Venice student district. A/C , Internet Wi-Fi included
I have lived in Venice all my life, studied International Relations and currently working for the UN. I am managing the properties through my family - father and mother are architects that studied in Venice from 1967 and never left it. We know the city inside out and are in love with it!
Veronique Duconge purchased this apartment in 1992
The studio has windows on three sides, a mezzanine with queen size bed, air conditioning, it is extremely pleasant, calm and with a character. I used to live there as a student. The studio has a private garden, wonderful for having breakfast or just a relaxed time at night.
The studio is an open space on two levels, very airy and sunny, as well as pleasant. The area is very lively: a student area with all the shops, restaurants and attractions. All amenities are in very close range: banks, market, bars, ATM machines, pharmacy.
Campo Santa Margherita is arguably one of the nicest squares in Venice. And the most authentic and lively!
My wife and I stayed here to 2 nights, and absolutely loved it. It's away from of the overcrowded touristy areas, but close enough to walk to. Very close to good restaurants and local hang outs. The hosts' recommendations were great!
My mother and my two daughters stayed in Venice for 4 days and loved the location and style of the apartment. Especially my teenage daughters. A market is just a 'stone throw' away form the apartment and they cooked quite often. They were welcomed by the host with fresh peaches and prosecco and the kitchen was well equipped had all standard condiments.. Great location and grande experience.
This apartment is well-located for seeing Venice, yet avoiding most of the crowds. The fridge was stocked with goodies for us when we arrived. Communication with the owner went well.
Meeting the owner's father on the way to the rental did not work well for us. I would strongly suggest asking the owner to arrange a water taxi for you, which would take you to the apartment. As far as the "private garden" mentioned in the description, all we found was a garden area in the main courtyard surrounded by a wrought iron fence around an area of wild vegetation. The apartment was basic and funky, but in need of upgrading. The twin beds on the first floor consisted of a mattress and box spring on the floor. The curtains were somewhat torn and stained. The throw pillows on the beds were stuffed with old wool blankets and torn. The bedspreads needed cleaning, the shower door was off its hinge, the refrigerator worked but was very old. The adorable spiral staircase you see in the photos was rickety. The water drainage from the AC emptied into a 5 gallon jug which we had to empty every day. The stove is a two burner, on top of the counter, gas burner and there is a small toaster oven. The only place to sit in the apartment were the twin beds on the floor or a few wooden folding chairs. The building itself was authentic and attractive. We do not plan to return.
This apartment was located in a great area to explore the city. It was also a vibrant neighbourhood with lots of restaurants and small interesting shops tucked away, but the apartment itself was quiet with a large courtyard buffering it from the bustle. We appreciated the lovely big windows which let in lots of light. The fridge was stocked with butter, fresh strawberries, jam, bread, milk, juice and beer which was a nice gesture. The apartment has its own unique, casual charm and served as a great home base to explore Venice.
Clean and spacious apartment in an old building set back from the canal outside. On arrival there was butter, yoghurt, bread and milk in the fridge, and even a few beers - most welcome as it was an extremely hot day! (probably mid-30s, way over the norm for the time of year). The apartment is very well located, a 10 minute walk from Piazzale Roma (itself a 6 euro bus ride from the airport - get the ATVO rather than the ACTV) and easy walking distance from the main attractions. Campo Santa Margherita (really buzzing in the evenings thanks to the nearby university) is just across the canal outside, with a good supermarket at the far end, and decent to very good restaurants there or an easy walk away. All in all a very pleasant few days. Many thanks.
Charmant studio. Bien placé dans Venise. A proximité du quartier étudiant tout en étant au calme. Bon matelas du lit à l'étage. Bonne communication par internet Bon accueil par Jacqueline à notre arrivée. Nous recommandons cette location.
