This historic apartment building has been beautifully restored.

The private suites feature hardwood floors throughout open floor plans. Huge original casement wavy glass windows filter magnificent natural light. Each apartment is creatively decorated with local art, antiques and modern amenities that epitomize the chic eclecticness of everything Asheville.

Its central location is just a few blocks to restaurants, bars and grocery stores. It’s less than 1 mile to downtown and Grove Park Inn. 2 miles to Beaver Lake and 15 minutes to the Blue Ridge Pkwy and the Biltmore Estate. There is 1 queen size bed, and a sleeper sofa in the living room. Each apartment has a 39” flat screen HD TV, WiFi, stainless steel appliances, coffee maker, microwave and washer/dryer access.

My husband and I have a great love of historic architecture, antiques and art. We have been restoring old homes in Asheville since 2000. In 2013, we decided to combine our passions by creating these inspired spaces for guests to stay while they explore all the vibrant culture and beautiful mountains found in and around Asheville.

We're always on the look out for special properties in need of restoration. With the quaint urban neighborhood setting and convenient location, we knew we would offer visitors a unique place to stay during their travels.

What makes this apartment unique

Classic Mediterranean arched entrances, floors with beautiful hand painted designs, original hand blown crown glass windows, hardwood floors, refurbished/repurposed furniture, and timeless white subway tiles in kitchen/bath.

Henrietta House is located less than 1 mile from Downtown Asheville and less than 1 mile the Grove Park inn. Set on a quiet urban street within walking distance to many of Asheville's finest restaurants and shopping.

I love this place. Close to town and close to local bike shops and rad mountain bike trails. Owners are great people. No complaints and will be staying here again next visit.

First Trip to Asheville

We visited Asheville with another couple and took 2 apartments in the building which was convenient and also allowed us each some scheduling flexibility. The apartment was clean and well stocked with the basics; laundry is in the basement and easily accessible. We drove to N.C. and we were glad that we had our car...downtown is a bit of a hike but quite doable on a nice day. Harris Teeter and Trader Joe’s are both nearby, the Biltmore Estate and the Dupont State Park (great hiking) are both a drive. The neighborhood was blissfully quiet at night which all of us appreciated. All in all a very pleasant experience; we would stay here again if/when we return to Asheville.

Convenient to downtown Asheville; nice clean apartment

The property is in a residential neighborhood with on street parking (road is narrow and cars parked on both sides). Close to downtown Asheville (a mile or a little more) but too far to walk on hot days. On the way is a grocery store and some chain restaurants. The unit we rented (the Sparrow) is ground level and immaculate. The whole place was renovated and in excellent shape. Nice kitchen which has a coffee maker, microwave, stove, full size fridge. Bedroom is a good size, bathroom with full tub and shower, pull out couch which our daughter used. TV with cable, wi-fi, everything you need. The house has several units, but it was quiet while we were there (August, 2017) with just some footsteps heard from the unit above. It's an old house; floors are a bit wonky. Queen bed is creaky and on the soft side.

One thing we didn't love was the additional cleaning fee ($30) for the third person; seemed high (literally just sheets and a towel to wash - why the fee?)

Owner's Response: We’re glad you enjoyed your stay at the apartment building. I’m sorry you didn’t love the additional guest fee. I hope I can explain ... Our VRBO listing is clear that (1) rates are based on a 2 person occupancy and (2) the $30 fee is standard for a 3rd guest to cover the cost of cleaning the additional linens, blankets and towels. We don’t make extra money on this. The additional load of laundry takes 1.45 hrs. Our cleaner earns $20 per hr. I checked my email records to make sure that we had clarified all fees. Prior to your stay, I sent a message regarding the fee and offered to answer any questions. I didn’t hear back from you. Please understand, if there’s ever something you are concerned about regarding your visit … we are always happy to help.
