The Carrabassett River has always called to us and finally we have our own piece of it. And we'd love to share with you. We call our vacation home 'Irie on the Carrabassett', because we think the Jamaican word for a state of peacefulness or harmony, either within oneself or with the world in general describes best our feeling when near the river.
If you want to spend a week doing seven different activities, you can. Or just listen to the river and unwind. If you have a student at the University of Maine at Farmington, we offer a great alternative to the area's hotels, especially for families.
Our second year staying here. Everything is very clean. Tons of amenities for such a rural place. We will be back again in the future.
We were so very pleased with our stay last weekend. The owners have really thought everything out - from the sauna to the snacks on the dining room table to all the board games and movies they provided. This is a sure bet if you want to go skiing at Sugarloaf. The cabin is about a twenty minute ride to the base of the slopes but is in a quiet, secluded area, which helps set the tone for a relaxing weekend. We would highly recommend a stay here and plan on booking again sometime soon.
The place was great. It was comfortable and clean. We utilized the kitchen stocked with pots, dishes, spices, etc. We especially enjoyed the popcorn maker. Living room and basement provided a good space to hang out.
We have stayed at at least ten houses within the past two years and this was by far the best! They thought of everything! The kitchen is well stocked with everything you could imagine! The house is beautiful and perfect for a fun-filled or relaxing weekend in Maine. In fact, a few people in our group opted out of skiing so they could hang out at the house! I'd highly recommend it to any group! We were a group of adults but it would be perfect for one or two families because of the private bedrooms on two different floors. The sauna was a nice touch, especially after a long day of skiing! Simply the best!
Amazing time in this beautiful cottage!
We went to the States for a weekend of snowboarding in Sugarloaf. We enjoyed our time there. Confortable, beautiful scenery and everything for everyone. My nephew loved the PS3 and the movies, and the adult loved the sauna after a long day at Sugarloaf. Only 30 min from the mountain and a beautiful little river right at our door step.
Perfect service, Michel is always ready to help and a very quick respond.
I recommend it to everyone.

We loved our stay. From the beautiful river to the cozy interior to the treats and amenities provided. I can tell Mike and Michelle put so much love into this house. It was meticulously clean when we arrived, and it is very thoughtfully organized and stocked. Everything we could have needed was there and then some - popcorn maker! Wii! Lots of blankets! We will definitely be back.
On the bank of the Carrabassett River, we are located in the middle of Maine's variety of year round leisure activities. Sugarloaf, 30 minutes away, offers the state's finest snowboarding and skiing, both downhill and crosscountry. Access to the ITS system of snowmobile trails is less than a mile away. When the snow melts it's time for using our river for kayaking, tubing, and flyfishing. Or travel 30 minutes to hook up with one of the area's many white water rafting companies on the Kennebec and Dead Rivers. Enjoy your mountain bike on the area's trails or hike on Maine's Huts and Trails system. You can even log some miles on the Appalachian Trail nearby. An outstanding brand new nine hole golf course is 15 minutes away or travel another 15 minutes and play Sugarloaf's 18 hole course, said to be one of the finest in New England. For cultural activities there's the art scene in Kingfield, along with the Stanley Museum. For educators, alumni, and parents, the University of Maine at Farmington is a brief 30 minute drive. Many quaint shops are located in the villages of Kingfield and Farmington, along with many excellent restaurants.
