About Dan & Judy Sage

Married over 25 years, Dan & Judy live in Auburn CA have always enjoyed beach side vacations. In 2014, after many trips to Cabo, we decided to purchase a home of our own in what we consider one of the best kept secrets in Cabo. We know you will enjoy our home as much as we do. The only question is 'When will your Adventure begin'?

Dan & Judy Sage purchased this condo in 2014

Why Dan & Judy Sage chose San José del Cabo

Our unit is in the center of the complex facing the ocean. This is a benefit since it allows for a constant breeze from the ocean. Also, we are close to the secure parking area and the Security booth. The parking area is close, as is the elevator. This is great when carrying groceries or luggage to the unit.

What makes this condo unique

Our Palapa boasts the best most comfy outdoor furniture. since you will spend A lot of time on the balcony, you want to be sure you are comfy! Also, due to our 3rd floor location you enjoy views of the garden, pools and ocean instead of at another building. We have a secuirty front door which allows for a cool breeze and security. Often we leave the windows open at night while we sleep to the sound of the waves. Our kitchen is fully stocked with paper towels, Tupperware, zip lock bags, and many spices for gourmet cooking. Laundry and dish soap, toilet paper and mini soaps and shampoos, conditioner and lotions are always plentiful. No need to bring your hair dryer, there is one in each bathroom along with plenty of luxurious towels. We have four Tommy Bahama beach chairs and floatie noodles for your enjoyment at the beach and pool. Lastly, you will always find a cool beverage in the frig upon your arrival. There's nothing else like it!

Awesome Stay in SJdC

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Dan and Judy's was perfect for our family of six (18, 15, 11 and 6). First off, staying in San Jose rather than Cabo San Lucas was the right decision. So much more low key and relaxing yet close enough to CSL to make a day trip or two (the purple or green city bus took us all for under $10USD each way). The absolute highlight of this condo is the balcony. Spacious with great views of the pool and Sea of Cortez. We ate some dinners and breakfasts out on the 6 person dining set there too...The sun didn't really disrupt the morning until after 9:00AM so its a perfect place for coffee and a book while the kids slept a little longer. The view to the pool was direct so that we could keep an eye on our kids if they wanted to go to the pool early or later. The main sliding door and the master slider were pocket doors and opened all the way. I think we kept them open our entire stay (even at night...no bugs whatsoever) so that we could always hear the crashing waves of the sea. It made for a nice breezes and comfy nights sleeping each evening. Both bedrooms and baths were perfectly appointed and very comfortable. There were enough linens/towels for everyone and enough beach towels to go around. The kitchen had everything we needed and ample glassware for drinks along with plenty of nice plastic cups for drinks by the pool. The pools and jacuzzi were cleaned and maintained daily and our youngest two spent more time in the water than in the condo. The complex is meant for relaxation and not a big party. There is a hotel and bar (Mama Mia's) next door with music and a good happy hour for great margheritas. The only downsides are the distance from the La Comer (Mega) store and the attitudes of a couple of the long term/permanent residents. The Mega store walk is doable and we did it a couple times but not if you are buying heavy items (water, beer, etc)...we used a taxi when we stocked up on water/beer. There is a convenience store at the end of the driveway (OXXO) and another about a block away (Trader) that work just fine for the small stuff. Dan and Judy were great with communication and you can tell they are selective in who they rent to...I would do the same if it was my place. Highly recommended to everyone except for those that want a huge spring break party atmosphere.

THanks Dan and Judy...Pete and Lisa

Ocean front, private pool, beautiful views, comfortable condo in a safe complex

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 ( 8 yr old and 11 yrs old) just got home from 9 nights at this beautiful condo in a very well maintained safe residential condo complex. It was a wonderful holiday mainly due to this home we rented.

Judy and Dan responded to our emails promptly. We were a bit nervous sending cash /check but didn't have any issues. They even arranged to give us an early check in. Which was a life savour after our son had a medical emergency on the plane we were thankful to have a place to rest right away.

This home was well stocked with everything we needed. The grocery store was a quick drive or 20 min walk away to buy all our food and booze. But the unit had everything else including toilet paper, garbage bags, laundry detergent etc. The kitchen and cooking tools were very nice compared to other units our friends rented in the same building. We didn't have to contact the property manager once as everything was as advertised and promised.

There were some pool toys and beach gear on the condo and lots of towels. The beds were super comfy and clean!!! It was truly a wonderful experience.

The balcony is awesome. A dining table to have dinners and breakfast at, a couch for lounging, and a nice BBQ for cooking. The view is breathtaking. I took so many photos of the sunrise! The beach outside the unit is quiet and no rif raft or locals selling goods. The water was rough and we didn't swim but the kids would get their feet wet and loved being chased by the waves. We enjoyed many evenings on the beach enjoying the waves. Which could be very loud at night. Sometimes felt time thunder. Some nights there were fireworks to be scene up the beach.

The property has a mix of renters and owners living there and you could tell the owners would get annoyed with the vacationers at times. But nobody bothered or complained to us. The complex is NOT for parties and was quiet in the evenings.

You can tell the building is well maintained and well built as we didn't hear any noises from the neighbours. Nothing worst then heavy footsteps above you or noisy neighbours and we didn't have any of that.

I highly recommend this unit and we hope to come back one day really soon.

Muchos Gracius!!!!

Relax with breathtaking sunrises over the sea of cortez!

  • 5 of 5

The views from the spacious balcony are beautiful. Watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee and a good book was a wonderful way to start each day. This unit was perfect for my husband and I and our college age daughter. 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms separated by the living/kitchen space would also be great for two couples. The pools were uncrowded, clean and peaceful. Steps away from the beach and the sea. Location was great for long walks on the beach or for just relaxing by the pool. We purchased groceries at La Comer (large grocery and other goods) and barbecued or cooked a few meals and went out a few times. Flora Farms for breakfast was a highlight! Gate guard called a taxi for us as we didn't have a car. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax and soak up the sun, this is it!

An amazing view you will never forget.

  • 5 of 5

Have you ever wondered if the pictures posted on a web site are really what you will find when you arrive? Our Palapa’s pictures don’t do it justice. This place is amazing. From the minute you arrive at the property you know you have come to the right place. Our Palapa is located El Zalate resort overlooking the beach.

Open the door to Our Palapa and you step into luxury. Granite counters, huge windows, tile floors, beautiful hardwood cabinets and stainless appliances. The living area is very comfortable with couch, chairs, a big screen TV and access to the balcony. The two bedrooms are comfortable, with huge windows, beautiful views access the large balcony.

Once you step out onto the balcony, the view is like something you only see in books or one of those best beaches in the world shows. The grounds are clean and manicured.

Everything you need you will find here. The kitchen is very well appointed, good knives, pots and pans, dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker, blender and the list goes on and on. Plenty of soft bedding and towels; it’s all here.

A short hundred yard walk up the beach will find you at a little restaurant with good food and friendly staff. At the resorts on either side of El Zalate, you will see what the crowds in San Jose are all about. The un-crowded, quiet pace at El Zalate will let you know for sure you picked the right place.

There are lots of great restaurants and shops and even a brewery in Old Town San Jose, and don’t forget to visit the Art Walk on Thursday nights.

Everyone here at this complex is very friendly; don’t be surprised if you get invites for cocktails or dinner. You will make many new friends here and have a lifetime of memories.

Dan and Judy are incredible hosts. We will be back.

Home away from Home

  • 5 of 5

Coming from Cali-where beaches are not scarce, still didn't take away from this breathtaking of a gem tucked away between others alike. I fully enjoyed my stay here at El Zalate. Its a quaint, quite, very peaceful place with plenty of privacy. I found myself enjoying the exclusivity of it all. At times I almost felt like I had the whole place to myself! The security that worked the grounds were very thorough and made me feel right at home. I was comfortable in all aspects. The front door even had a beautiful metal screen that locked so I could enjoy the gentle breezes that flowed through the house throughout the day. The patio/balcony area also has giant doors with screens I could latch and take in the view from below. The place itself is very spacious and clean and beautiful. I had everything I needed in the kitchen and enjoyed making myself a few meals during my stay. Overall, I am and was-more than pleased.

Thank you Dan and Judy for having me. It was a trip way more worth my while than I thought possible.

- A grateful traveler

Great family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful condo with all the needed necessities to make it feel like home. Dan and Judy kept in contact with us through the entire booking process and even called to check on us the day we arrived. The condo itself is very nicely kept and the balcony overlooking the pools and ocean is spacious and was a perfect spot for morning coffee, lunch, dinner, anything - beautiful view! We even had the pools all to ourselves one day - a special treat! The pools are in excellent condition. The property is beautifully maintained and the beach is very clean. We enjoyed Mama Mia's bar/grill next door and Sardinas Cantinas as well just up the hill and to the right. We actually took a day trip to Los Cabos and was amazed at how busy and loud it was there and could not wait to get back to our quiet and beautiful resort in San Jose! Thanks again Dan and Judy! We had a lovely time!

San Jose del Cabo and its sister city Cabo San Lucas both have unique characteristics. Cabo San Lucas is full of nightlife, shopping, bars and restaurants. Many beaches are accessible including 'The Office' a must see lively beach. The DJ and bartenders will keep you entertained all day. Water activities such a parasailing, jet skis and kayaks are available for rent. Snorkeling and surf lessons are available in both areas as is the horseback riding on the beach at sunset. A quieter experience awaits you on the beaches of San Jose. Families play near the ocean side, couples walk along the shore and solitary fisherman catch their dinner. Sea shells can be gathered and kites flown from the breezy beach just outside the condo. The town of San Jose is close by, the people are friendly. There is lots to see here too.
