He arrives with large scallops, sea bass, grouper, parrot fish, lobster and the largest shrimp you will ever see! All fresh from the sea. Don't be turned away by the service of the items directly from ice chests from the back of his old red pick up truck. We have had the seafood many times, it's always delicious.

About Dan & Judy Sage

Married over 25 years, Dan & Judy live in Auburn CA have always enjoyed beach side vacations. In 2014, after many trips to Cabo, we decided to purchase a home of our own in what we consider one of the best kept secrets in Cabo. We know you will enjoy our home as much as we do. The only question is 'When will your Adventure begin'?

Dan & Judy Sage purchased this condo in 2014

Why Dan & Judy Sage chose San José del Cabo

Our unit is in the center of the complex facing the ocean. This is a benefit since it allows for a constant breeze from the ocean. Also, we are close to the secure parking area and the Security booth. The parking area is close, as is the elevator. This is great when carrying groceries or luggage to the unit.

What makes this condo unique

Our Palapa boasts the best most comfy outdoor furniture. since you will spend A lot of time on the balcony, you want to be sure you are comfy! Also, due to our 3rd floor location you enjoy views of the garden, pools and ocean instead of at another building. We have a secuirty front door which allows for a cool breeze and security. Often we leave the windows open at night while we sleep to the sound of the waves. Our kitchen is fully stocked with paper towels, Tupperware, zip lock bags, and many spices for gourmet cooking. Laundry and dish soap, toilet paper and mini soaps and shampoos, conditioner and lotions are always plentiful. No need to bring your hair dryer, there is one in each bathroom along with plenty of luxurious towels. We have four Tommy Bahama beach chairs and floatie noodles for your enjoyment at the beach and pool. Lastly, you will always find a cool beverage in the frig upon your arrival. There's nothing else like it!

Exceeded all our expectations! This condo is our new favorite place to stay in Mexico!

  • 5 of 5

The owners, Dan and Judy, make the rental process super easy. Their Palapa is beautiful in every way! And the location in the complex is perfect! We woke up to the most gorgeous sunrise every day and sat out on the spacious and well appointed balcony to watch the sunset at night. We look forward to staying here again ASAP :)

Another perfect stay!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to Dan and Judy’s condo and we loved it just as much if not more than our first. El Zalate is a great property- beautifully maintained pool and grounds and views that take your breath away. The condo itself is such a pleasure to stay in. It is obvious there is pride of ownership here. It is one of the nicest and best equipped VRBO properies we have ever stayed in. Everything you need is here. Our favourite spot is the huge deck.We spent many happy early mornings drinking our coffee watching the sunrise and loved our candlelit dinners at the outdoor dining table.

Thanks so much,Dan and Judy, you really do have a little piece of paradise here. We’ll be back- Bruce and Paula

The complex is beautiful

  • 5 of 5

Seated on the comfortable patio couch sipping our morning coffee we watched several beautiful sunrises.

There are many things to do in the area. Or you can just lay in the sun.

The condo is great and has everything you need.

Home with a View

  • 5 of 5

My husband, college student son and I just returned from a week at this beautiful property. Other reviews have referred to the comfort of this well maintained condo, but I will add that it is clearly a well loved home, with all the conveniences you might want provided with high end style. The complex is within walking distance of a few good restaurants, but we found it helpful to have a car. There is a fair amount of construction all over Cabos and the property was a tranquil oasis; Always quiet, on a near empty broad beach. (We did not try to swim there, though a handful of people did.) Dan and Judy were always available and helpful hosts. I highly recommend this property for anyone looking for relaxation.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments Diane! I know it took some effort to get there from New York this winter but I'm glad you and your family enjoyed yourselves. I hope the tan lines last at least 2 weeks! 😉 I hope you can come back soon Dan and Judy.

We had a great time... Can't wait to come back!!

Wow… We’ve stayed in several VRBO properties, and this is absolutely one of our favorites! The unit is spacious, very clean, and well-appointed. The pictures don’t lie – it really is that nice.

The beds are firm and really comfortable with nice quality sheets. There are plenty of towels for inside, more for pool/beach use.

The kitchen is well-equipped with enough pots, pans, utensils, plates, bowls, glasses, etc., to make you feel right at home when you want to cook in. The full-size propane BBQ out on the deck is awesome for grilling. The kitchen area is big enough for two people to prep without always bumping into each other. The dishwasher makes cleanup pretty easy.

There is no indoor dining table, but the large dining table out on the patio is great for any meal. We were there over Christmas, and eating out in the fresh air every day was a great experience. There was always a bit of a breeze to keep it from getting too hot, it’s covered in case it rains (it never rained the whole time we were there), and no problem with flies or mosquitos.

The property itself is clean and nicely kept. The lush grass, tropical plants, and palm trees are well cared-for. The pools are very clean, and uncrowded even though we were there over a major holiday.

The location is just on the West edge of San Jose del Cabo. We rented a car from Cactus at the airport, brought our own GPS, and had no trouble getting around. There is plenty of parking at El Zalate, and the friendly guards at the gate get to know you pretty quickly as you come and go. Watch out for that speed bump on the ramp though – we bottomed-out a few times going over it!

We drove into Cabo San Lucas a few times to hang out at the marina and eat at Solomon’s Landing – our favorite restaurant in the area! Cabo San Lucas is about a 30 minute easy drive from El Zalate. Parking right at the marina is pretty cheap – 40 Pesos (about $2) per hour.

The closest grocery shopping to El Zalate is La Comer (formerly Mega), about a 2 minute drive away. Walmart is about 6 minutes away. If you want something a little nicer than these, check out Chedraui… it’s on the other side of the roundabout from La Comer. Doesn’t look like much from the outside, but really nice inside!

We are SO looking forward to our next stay here! Dan and Judy are very easy-going and straightforward to deal with. They make the process very easy. Thanks guys!

San Jose del Cabo and its sister city Cabo San Lucas both have unique characteristics. Cabo San Lucas is full of nightlife, shopping, bars and restaurants. Many beaches are accessible including 'The Office' a must see lively beach. The DJ and bartenders will keep you entertained all day. Water activities such a parasailing, jet skis and kayaks are available for rent. Snorkeling and surf lessons are available in both areas as is the horseback riding on the beach at sunset. A quieter experience awaits you on the beaches of San Jose. Families play near the ocean side, couples walk along the shore and solitary fisherman catch their dinner. Sea shells can be gathered and kites flown from the breezy beach just outside the condo. The town of San Jose is close by, the people are friendly. There is lots to see here too.
