I actually rented the unit Armenaki, which is just beside the Ampelia. The Ampelia and Armenaki share the same deck/patio (as seen in the pic with the cat) and they are owned/managed by Rena. However, the Ampelia also has a second deck above. Rena is the best - she help arrange our pick up from the Port to the cave house, and she even woke up early to make sure we get to the airport for an early flight. There was also a porter, Vasilis, who helped with our luggage down to the cavehouse and back up to the airport shuttle. The cavehouse is about 120 steps down from the main road in Oja. So once you are in the cave house, to go to the main road, you need to go up 120 steps to buy grocery or to go around town. So, if you're not the type to climb up and down 120 steps, this may not be for you (that's like going up and down a 10 storey building). Rena speaks in French, so Google Translate came in handy with the emails in French. We had Santorini wine waiting when we arrived. I feel bad that we only consumed half of it, as we got very drunk. It was a superb tasting wine. There are 4 cave units on this level, and 2 below that is rented and managed by Rena. The Ampelia sleeps 4 persons, while the Armenaki sleeps only 2 persons, which was enough for my wife and myself. The view is terrific and we could just sit all day looking at this view. The view in the picture is accurate. Rena also have kayaks which you can borrow. You have to go down about 300-400 steps to get to the sea level to get to the kayaks - this is not for the faint of heart as it is steep and you need footwear with traction. It was great to experience kayaking the Aegean sea, but it was a short trip for me as the waves were getting strong and the tide rising up quickly. We had a great time in the town of Oja, which we think is better than the very crowded town of Fira. I would highly recommend Rena and her house caves.
