Quite lovely and perfectly located

We had a wonderful time with friends at this apartment. It was gorgeous inside and very comfortable. Quick drive to some high peaks and walking distance to the main strip in Lake Placid. We'd stay again in a heartbeat! Thank you Brendan and Penny.

Charming Cottage in the woods!

  • 5 of 5

My fiancee and two twin daughters (14 years old) just returned from a week long stay in the cottage.

Owners: The owners were great. They were extremely accommodating and polite. Despite the close proximity of the cottage to the main house, we felt like we had he entire place to ourselves. They even left us some welcome to the ADKs treats upon arrival!

Property: This place fit our needs perfectly. The girls stayed in the loft and it gave them enough room to have "their own space." The kitchen was amply equipped to make food for 4, as we only went out to eat a few nights. The living room area was roomy and the cable tv was a hit with the girls. The owners stocked the place with board games, and that became our nightly tradition to turn off the WiFi and other technology and play scrabble. We did a lot of grilling on the supplied gas grill, and when it wasn't raining, a lot of reading on the deck. Our trip was not a total wash out, but it did rain every single day we were there. That being said, even with the 4 of us we did not feel overcrowded. We had ample storage for the fishing gear, paddleboards, and 5 bikes we brought in the garage. We truly found this place to be perfect for our needs. The only thing we would have changed is the lighting over the kitchen table. It was not a major issue at all (I'm really splitting hairs here), but didn't quite provide enough light for some late night cards. It was an easy fix for us as we had a small battery powered lantern.

Location: We have been renting places in Lake Placid for about 5 years. I can say with 100% certainty that this is the quietest place we have ever stayed at and still be a short walk to Mirror Lake Drive (about 2 mins). You truly feel like you're sleeping in the middle of the woods. We woke up one night to the sounds of loons. It's a decent walk into town, but on bike it's less than 5-10 mins depending on where you'd like to go. The 14 year olds preferred two wheels, we preferred our two feet. The private beach is amazing. It allowed us to launch our paddleboards there and fish the quiet end of the lake.

Summary: Amazing owners, fantastic amenities, spot on pricing, and beautiful scenery inside and out makes this place one to add to your VRBO favorites list. It's on ours!

A Lake Placid retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for our son's graduation from Northwood School. It was steps to a private beach on Mirror Lake and we were able to paddleboard. Steps to the walk around Mirror Lake -a 2 mile morning walk! The owners were wonderful and even gave us Adironodack chocolates as a welcome. The house has a grill so we enjoyed barbecuing and eating out on the deck. The woodwork is amazing-you feel like you are in a mountain retreat. So convenient to town-you could drive in 2 minutes or walk. We were 2 adults and 1 adult daughter. It's nice that the shared bathroom has a door from the living space so people do not have to go through the master bedroom. We would definitely stay here again!
