Quintessential Beach Destination
This wonderfully located private house is an all-inclusive beach property, perfect for an idyllic beach experience. An easy walk of less than 1/3 mile to Kelly Beach or ¼ mile to Little Beach, this house has a beautiful view of the salt pond to watch the nightly sunsets from either inside the open, spacious 2nd floor great room, dining area, deck, screened porch, or 1 of 2 living rooms. 2 of the 4 bedrooms also share this water view, as does the 3rd floor computer area and sleeping loft. 2 high def wide-screen home theaters with a fabulous sound system, cable, DVR, movies and exercise videos, high speed internet throughout the house with 2 computers provided, new granite counters and stainless steel appliances in the kitchen with double ovens, ice maker, and pots and pans (including ice cream maker, choc fondue pot) for gourmet cooks, large gas grill…nothing is missing from this house. Even a Las Vegas game table and bar are present! The central and window ac units are fine, although seldom necessary since the house has wonderful ventilation. Lots of game areas and game tables and the house is well-stocked with every imaginable amenity. Shampoos and soaps are provided as well as kitchen staples and fresh herbs growing on the large deck that comfortably seats 10. All sheets, towels, beach chairs, beach towels are premium, high end and graciously furnished and there is a lengthy guide about things to do and restaurants, and sites in the area, rain or shine. The house sits on a double lot with lots of room to play lawn games. Inside, the beds are comfy, the house is meticulously clean (owner does not rent to students), and the house décor is conducive to a relaxing beach vacation.
House is owned by a college professor and retired database designer from Boston. This is a second home which we rent out on a limited basis. The owners have impeccable taste and wanted to create a high end beach experience, providing everything except your food, clothes, and toothbrushes. We chose Bonnet Shores for its gorgeous, sparsely populated beaches, hassle free travel conditions and proximity to great food, theater, family activities as well as Newport, Providence, and Jamestown.
Judy purchased this house in 2006
This property is all about gorgeous views and surf sounds, easy walk to either of 2 private deeded beaches, safe, nice neighborhood, great restaurants, wonderful array of things to do, fantastic neighborhood …pretty close to paradise.
Also, close to boutique shopping, historic mansions in Newport, Mystic CT, fishing, kayaking, deep sea fishing, sailing, hiking trails, surf lessons, beach yoga, bike rentals, lighthouse tours, quick ferry to Martha's Vineyard, LOTS of gorgeous beaches in the Ocean state. Lots of Farmer's Markets, fresh lobsters off the boats, fresh fish, major supermarkets and small stores, lots of ice cream, bakeries, yoghurt shops...something for everyone!
Theaters, the arts, WaterFire, dance, musical concerts on the beach and in concert halls, dance lessons, art fairs...never a dull moment -- unless you want to escape with a good book and go to the private beach or sit on the deck....
House is elegant but laid back enough for entertaining and relaxing in a very comfortable environment. No sacrifices; true beach luxury!
Beautiful view of water from most rooms, especially enjoyable from dinner table and deck! Great kitchen for re-discovering cooking! Perfect walk to the perfect beach! Sound of the surf at night while drifting off to sleep.
A true retreat with unexpected conveniences ...WOW!!!
Immaculate attention to detail that was so much appreciated ... no doubt we will reserve for next year!
I've rented through homeaway many times, but I did something this time, that I've never done before - I rented a home that had no reviews. I was a little nervous, but once I spoke with the owner (Judy) and quickly received a very professional-looking lease, I decided to move forward with the rental. I'm so pleased that I did and wanted to write a review so that other families looking for a wonderful place to stay would not have the same initial concerns that I had.
First impressions of the house - exactly as represented online, wonderful location (leisurely 10 min walk to larger beach), and meticulously clean.
Check-in was at 3pm and we arrived to an envelope with the keys, a renter's guide, and a generous basket of snacks! We felt very welcomed here. The bathrooms were stocked with toilet paper and the kitchen had paper towels and other basics (such as aluminum foil and soap). We walked into the garage and one of the beach carriers was packed up and ready to go with umbrellas and chairs. Speaking of that, there are plenty of fluffy beach towels, good beach chairs, umbrellas and soft-sided coolers. The beach carriers made the .4 mile walk to Kelly Beach (the larger of the two nearby beaches) a breeze.
We were a group of 10, that expanded to 12 for a few nights, and the home easily accommodated us from all perspectives (dining, living, sleeping). The deck, with its two large oval tables, provided room for all of us to dine as did the inside dining table. There were plenty of utensils, plates, cups, etc.
The kitchen and outside grill made it easy for us to dine in (which we did 5 out of 7 nights). Plenty of pots, pans, cutting boards, knives, etc.
We were fortunate in that it didn't rain during our vacation, but if it had, there were multiple places to hang out. In addition to the large upstairs living space, there is also a downstairs living area as well as a large 3-season porch.
What else made the house work so well for our 2 families? The large side yard, 3 FULL baths (plus outdoor shower) with plenty of bath towels, a large laundry room, and 2 washers & dryers.
The location is perfect - a close walk to the beach, a beautiful view of the pond, and an easy drive to area stores.
We had a wonderful time at Judy's home and would not hesitate to rent again next year.
