No need for a car as you are right in Centro and just steps from restaurants, and a few blocks from the Main Square called the Plaza Grande. You are within walking distance to so many parks and amazing historical architectural sites. A few short blocks away is Santiago Parque where you can enjoy Big Band music and dancing on Tuesday evenings, or just around the other corner is Parque Santa Lucia with fabulous local cuisine. A few short blocks to the English Library for their home tours, and comraderie.

Enjoy the Queen bed 2 bedroom/2 bathroom home with private pool, and covered patio. Two master suites - Both bedrooms are air conditioned, and ceiling fans are throughout the house. Internet and cable TV are provided, and you have a cellphone for your use. The pool is night lit for a romantic dip in the evening, or to sit on the ledge and enjoy a glass of wine. Truly an amazing location in a safe neighbourhood.

The front doors have glass enclosures to help with any street noise, but you will find the neighbourhood safe and peaceful. There are orange sellers down the street, and a lovely place for a buffet breakfast on the closest corner. There is a local school with the children taught by nuns, and sometimes you may hear the sounds of the little children singing songs - truly charming. There is a parking lot close by for those wanting secure parking if you are renting a car although you don't need a car for this location - everything is close. The bus to Progresso is just down the street if you need a day at the beach.

The kitchen is totally set up for cooking buffs, and there are 3 places to dine. Enjoy the outdoor patio with full dining for up to 8, or the inside dining room set up for 4, or just sit and have your breakfast at the wrought iron stools in the heart of the kitchen. All of the dishes, and cutlery, glassware etc are new, and you will find all you need to make some great meals if you feel so inclined. The bedrooms are separate from one another so that you can enjoy the utmost privacy. The bedroom in the back of the home which is the Spanish room looks out onto the pool and patio, and its attached bathroom can be accessed from the bedroom or from the patio for your guests. The other bedroom, the Moroccan room is close to the kitchen and living area. All our linens are 100% Egyptian cotton and the showers are walk in. There are lots of hooks to hang your clothes.

Casa Lola is a comfortable oasis in the vibrant city of Merida. Our elegant home has numerous antiques and vintage curios from around the globe as well as amenities like high speed internet and cable tv with English chanels to make your stay comfortable and convenient. You will love Casa Lola. The house is close to numerous restaurants, like Panchos and Amaro to name a few, and within 2 minutes walk, you can find wonderful Yucatecan food. Take a cooking class with International chefs and learn how to make the wonderful food. The shops are amazing and you'll delight in finding lots of wonderful treasures. The most wonderfuly thing, other than the architecture of Merida, is the people. It is like going back in time in Merida, with warm wonderful friendly people in a safe incredible city. SO much to explore in the Yucatan, and Merida is a wonderful base to do that. We fell in love with Merida and you will too.

About Janis Marchment

We are a Canadian couple, and new owners in Merida. We have a hobby farm in Langley, BC Canada and have a dog named Logan, many cats, (Horatio, Penelope, Lola, and Marlo) some Rocky Mountain horses (Hollywood and Celebrity) and 3 llamas named Oprah, Angelina Jolie, and Harmony, and a peacock named Ravi junior. We fell in love with Merida and all it has to offer, and purchased a home that we can enjoy for only a small part of the year. For that reason, we chose to have others enjoy our gorgeous historic home the remainder of the year.

Janis Marchment purchased this house in 2014

Why Janis Marchment chose Centro

We fell in love with Merida and knew we had to be a part of this amazing city. We love the Colonial facades of the Historic homes, and love to look inside. After renting a few times , we wanted to be right in the heart, and chose the Santiago area for our purchase. We had rented farther out of the main area, but decided that when you want to watch all the activities in the evening its rather nice to not have to walk too far back home. We chose our property because it was so close to all the vibrancy and liveliness in the parks and squares and restaurants which we love, and yet had a peaceful ambience once you open the doors. We named the home Lola quite by accident as the previous owners Pug was named Lola, and our tabbycat is named Lola, so we just began calling it Lola, so Lola it must stay. We love our home for its high beamed ceilings, historic doors, thick walls, and shaded patio and its many charms. The home has all the amenities you will need, and is such a peaceful oasis in this safe and wonderful city. The barrio where Casa Lola is situated is Santiago, and in the morning you can hear the delightful songs of the local school children, and purchase fresh fruit just down the street. The neighbourhood is friendly, and once inside the home, you can't help but feel relaxed, but do go out evenings to the Zocalo and parks experience the vibrancy of the city. There are so many events, and museums and fabulous architecture that you will never tire of this city.

What makes this house unique

Our home is in the best location in Merida Centro. We are just 2.5 blocks to the Main Square, and just a few steps to restaurants, and parks and museums. Our property is a sanctuary in the heart of the city. You will not find a better location. No need to get a cab home after a late night, and no need to walk for blocks and blocks in the dark in the evening.....everything is so close. Rent a car for a few days (Parking can be arranged across the street) and see the local ruins, and drive to Izamal to see the yellow city, or , from our home take a bus to Progresso for the day to enjoy the beach and take the bus back almost right to your doorstep. Its all right there.

A beautiful home right in the heart of Merida Centro!

  • 5 of 5

Two couples spent twelve days here in March. The home is lovely and had everything we needed. The local "girl friday" was always available for anything we needed - which wasn't often. We loved the outdoor patio and pool and spent a lot of time here. Being able to walk to everything we wanted to do or see made this a perfect place for us. Can't recommend it enough!

Elegant and totally perfect

  • 5 of 5

Casa Lola is a well located, completely wonderful, spacious home. A great layout of rooms for two couples-soaring spaces with outdoor dining and a delightful pool. The owner, Janis, and Lizbeth, the manager, were right there by email to help us with any questions. We hiked in ruins, swam in cenotes, shopped for fine craft and ate great food-a wonderful experience.

Beautiful Home in Merida Centro

  • 5 of 5

We had a great one week stay with our daughter. The pool and covered patio were a welcome retreat during the heat of the day. The home is beautifully decorated and comfortable. Come prepared for sounds of the city, though, as you are located on a typical busy one way street. Wake up to the lovely voices of school children attending the adjacent school. The house is conveniently located with great food and the cultural sites of Merida within walking distance. We took several day trips with pickup/drop off located at the nearby hotel.

Prime location, and spacious

  • 5 of 5

Casa Lola is a nicely appointed home, a few blocks from the Cathedral and prime shopping. Management (Yesenia and her husband) were delightful and very helpful. We accidentally locked ourselves out and they came to the rescue at about 10:30 at nite. The two bedrooms are perfect with great air conditioning ( I think the beds are "full size" ) and the washing machine came in handy as well.

Beautiful Home - Charming and Well Located

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in perhaps 10 VRBO's over the years and I start my search based on the number of reviews a property has, and then real them ALL. Trying to get a sense for the property.

In this case there were less reviews than I am used to seeing but I somehow sensed a good fit. It was, we had a great visit here for two nights. The home is beautiful and very nicely furnished, the owner has a nice design sense and it feels very warm and inviting.

It is well located and we felt very safe in Merida in general and in this home. The people that helped us check in were great and we stayed in touch over the weekend by text when we had any questions.

Everything was great, the guest book was full of comments that were positive as well. You will not regret if you choose to stay here!
