Last minute stay...long lasting memories.

  • 5 of 5

I wanted to start by saying that Ms. McCoy was very accommodating, polite and easy to work with. The location of her home was uniquely special to me. My family owned the cabin immediately next door for nearly 50 years. So getting a chance to bring my young family back to this cove was something that I wanted to do for a long time. Ms. McCoy's cabin was exactly the way I remembered it some 15 years after I last laid eyes on it.

The cabin has the perfect proximity to and visibility from the water. My young kids could play in the yard while my wife and I watched from the elevated porch on the front of the home. The dock and boat house were well maintained and the water is surprisingly deep (5 feet) right off the front edge of the dock. While we only used a small inflatable row boat during our stay, a sea doo or boat could easily be tied off at the dock without concern for water depth.

The cabin was well maintained and offered everything that we needed for our stay. The bedrooms were spacious with very comfortable and clean bedding with an ample stock of extra blankets. The heating and cooling systems worked great which was good b/c "A Frame" cabins are some times hard to regulate. Both the upstairs and downstairs bathrooms have been updated which was nice to see. The upstairs bedrooms both had TV's and a large selection of VHS/DVD's for the kids to watch at night. The common space was very comfortable with a variety of eating areas depending on the size of your group or your mood. The kitchen is a little tight, which is more in keeping with the original charm of this cabin, but all appliances worked. Various other small appliance and cooking utensils were available, working and clean. We did not utilize the fire place, but there was plenty of fire wood and starter logs to do so. Grill also worked great. Mosquito repellent options are recommended. We used Citronella candles on the back porch and I think had we lit a fire it would have repelled them even more. Keep in mind this is a cabin on a very still cove and this is just part of lake life.

All in all this was a 5 star experience. My kids are already begging to go back to the cabin. At the risk of sounding even more impartial, this cabin embodies everything that is right and good about a week/weekend at the lake. You don't have to look any further than the countless photos of this happy family that adorn the walls to say to yourself "this is what it's all about right here."

Beautiful Cabin on the Water

  • 5 of 5

The Fisher Hollow Waterfront Cabin was fantastic. It is just the perfect distance from everything in Guntersville. The rooms were clean, and we had everything we needed and more for a comfortable stay with plenty of parking too. The back deck was so nice for hanging out watching the water flow by.

The dock was handy for the boat rental drop-off. The grounds were very well kept, and we enjoyed the fire pit too. We were able to watch football Saturday evening.

These cabin owners went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of. The cabin and the owners exceeded expectations! We will certainly be back and we've already started telling others about this cabin!

This home is very comfortable and has all the basics to make your stay enjoyable . The master is downstairs and two bedrooms upstairs . Master has king bed , upstairs are two full beds in one room and then either a full or queen and daybed in other bedroom. It was a little hard to be out by 10:00 our last day because everything has to be done before you leave. In our case we had a lot to do and two teenage boys who wanted to sleep in . All bedding and all towels needs to be started in the wash and dry cycle and there wasn't enough washing liquid so my hubby and to go out and get some which is not a short dive . All trash has to be taken out and no trash bags either luckily I brought some . My biggest complaint was the kitchen was tiny . There was hardy room to cook . Two people in there is over crowded . We had 5 spending the night and two more visitors so only two people could get in kitchen at a time to get food. I guess if you don't plan on cooking much it's not a big deal . But we didnt want to have to run out all the time and get food. On a good note their we're fans in all the bedrooms ! My family love to sleep with fans on even in the cold months . It's in a nice private area . Neighborhood dogs are very welcoming ! Would I stay their again? Yes I would even with the small kitchen . We just made the best of it because the rest of the house and property made up for it and also thought the price was reasonable. Oh one more thing! The main tv is small😞 . We were hoping for a larger tv to watch football at night . But if your just going to enjoy the lake, boating , sking , fishing then I would highly recommend this home . But if your looking to spend time in kitchen and watch movies, football Etc, you'll be disappointed . I give it 4 stars

Owner's Response: In the future I hope you'll let me know if you need to check out a little later. I have folks that have to do that quite often and I will be more than happy to make arrangements for you. The only time it gets a little bit tough is just during the summer months when people are checking in and checking out so often. Hope you come back again thank you, Cheryl
