Beautiful house, area, and weather, with all the comforts of home

As advertised and then some…. We truly enjoyed our stay. Met Elena and Benjamin briefly and enjoyed talking to them. They were very helpful in answering our questions. We arrived Saturday evening not knowing what to expect. The house setup worked out well for the four of us as there were two rooms downstairs and an apartment upstairs. May have heard coyotes the first night and the stars were unbelievable as we could see the Milky Way. Woke up to the sound of birds chirping and a stream that flows near the house. We had a busy week planned. On our first full day there, we took the high road to Taos (only a 40 minute drive) and went to the Taos Pueblo, Rio Grande Gorge bridge and a few other places. The next day we went to Santa Fe and caught most of the sights that it had to offer. And, it was only slightly more than a 1 hour drive from the house. The next day, we went back to Taos, and drove east to Angel Fire on the south part of the enchanted circle. Over the next few days we went to Los Alamos, Bandelier National Monument, and Red River (all just slightly more than one hour away). Between horseback riding in Red River, hiking in Bandelier, checking out the Sipapu ski resort, visiting and taking pictures historic missions/churches, there was more than enough to see and do. With a central location to all of these places, Penasco is a great spot to be in. Very quiet, yet there is a serene beauty to it. And, I have to say, my wife was more than impressed with how well-stocked and clean the house was. Not to mention all the modern day amenities that it contained! We are very grateful to Elena and Benjamin for opening up their house for folks like us to enjoy. I enjoyed photographing around the house as there were birds, flowers, and great sunsets. We also did a few nature hikes in the local area. We are sure to have lots of great memories from this visit to New Mexico and hope to come back soon!

Wonderful home

  • 5 of 5

My college-aged children and I spent five nights here and just loved the place. With the separate upstairs, it was easy for me to be up and about while they had quiet. So much to do in the area - hiked Rio Santa Barbara, rafted, visited Taos and Santa Fe and Ojo Caliente - and had this relaxing place to return to!

Great location in a rural country setting just 15-20 minutes from the slopes at Sipapu.

  • 5 of 5

The property is clean and appears newly renovated. Fully stocked kitchen and good heating and amenities. Gas fireplace in living and bedrooms made for easy living. Nearby pastures with horses and amazing sunset and mountain with snow tops beautiful to view. Locals nearby created and authentic experience. Dollar store is the only store nearby to get necessities. We would likely visit again!!

Awesome ski trip!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 4 nights recently for a ski trip to Sipapu. The house is amazing. The remodel job they did is top notch. The kitchen has top of the line appliances including a six burner stove. I really appreciated the dishwasher and large refrigerator. They also had a washer and dryer which came in very handy. This is an ideal house for a family or a couple.

One thing I didn't realize was that the upstairs was accessed from the outside. This would not be a big deal for teenagers. My kids just used the upstairs to play in. Also, the two downstairs bedrooms are connected by the bathroom. This worked out great for us where our kids slept in the smaller bedroom.

The owner was very nice and helpful. I would highly recommend staying here when in the area.

Absolutely perfect!

We brought our kids on their first ski vacation to Taos and the house was beyond perfect! Roomy enough for our family of 5 but still super cozy..... we definitely plan to be back.
