Would stay here again if we ever return to Dublin. Very safe area, near grocery stores and transportation. Mauro was a great host, gave explicit directions to the apartment with pictures attached. The kitchen is small but adequate. Beds are extremely comfortable. We give it a 5 Star rating.
We stayed here a couple of years ago and we were so happy to find it available again this Christmas and New Year. The apartment is very comfortable with everything you need to live in Dublin. The train station, light rail stop, busses and taxi stop are just minutes away so we really didn’t need or miss having a car. Shops and restaurants and all the sights of the city are easily within walking distance.
Thanks William, happy you enjoyed your stay once again. Hope to see you soon. Mauro
Great location, but some snafus.
The apartment was a decent size with a great location, not far from the City Center and emigrant museum. The photo that shows the water is a little misleading. Yes, there is an off-shoot of the River Liffey, but it isn't the river itself. The apartment was not super clean and the immenities were not very polished. Sheets, towels, bathroom, and kitchen could use some updating. The washer/ dryer did not work, so we had to spread wet laundry everywhere. Then, the hot water heater blew a circuit. Mauro tried to make amends and kept us updated on repairs and gave us instructions on how to reset the water heater. Made our vacation a little more complicated, but Mauro was very apologetic.
I feel very sorry about this review, probably the first not-very-good review in 6 years. I am taking all the comments on board and give my views here below.
I have to say there is definitely nothing misleading about the photos, it is exactly what you see from the balcony, as you can read in several other guests' reviews. Nowhere in the description, it says that that the view is over the river Liffey. It actually says that it's Grand Canal Dock, which is a side canal of the river Liffey.
I am not sure what "superclean" means as the guest never mentioned that to me at arrival, during or after their stay. I never had any complaints from other guests in this regards but I had a word with the housekeeper anyway, just to make sure she'll be extra careful at every changeover to mantain high cleaning standards.
Guest is right though when mentioning the dryer issue: unfortunately, the dryer went during their stay. I called for repair immediately but it needed replacement, which I did straight away, but guests couldn't use the dryer on the day and I sincerely apologised for the inconvenience.
It's true, for some reason the hot water switch on the boiler tripped. I explained to the guest how to easily reset it. The hot water was available for their entire stay.
I am sorry this guest did not feel completely satisfied and I apologised several times with them about the dryer. Unfortunately, sometimes things that are out of my control happen but I will keep being as responsive as possible to resolve any issues.
Great locatuon, feel like a local...
Right in the hub of the city yet quiet and safe. The train and bus station is virtually 4 minute walk. The property is gated and Mauro, the owner, went above beyond with welcoming us and providing access to door codes and keys. He also answered any questions we had with bus routes or property questions. The unit itself was clean and well stocked with items or utensils needed. It is well laid out and if there was any critique would be some larger towels. There is grocery stores and Starbucks within 5 minutes walk as well as the River Liffey.
Good location- comfortable
Location was great, close to everything. We stayed 4 days, so it was convenient to have a kitchen. The price is reasonable for downtown Dublin. We did enjoy it.
Apartment needs a little update. The smell from the canal was not pleasant, possibly from a dry summer.
Basic apartment. No decorative accessories
Basic apartment in what was once a beautiful complex. Now the buildings and area surrounding them looks run down. There was a slimy green mushy place in the central area and dead grass. The 'waterfall' going down to the water below was shut off and was another slimy mess. The buildings didn't seem to look very well constructed. Location was good. Spooky area mostly vacant.
EASY ACCESS TO/FROM AIRPORT:
The apartment is easily accessible from the airport in about 30 mins by bus (number 41) or by taxi (about 25/30 Eur). Alternatively, it is possible to arrange private transfer from / to the airport (please contact the owner)
DUBLIN BY NIGHT... AND BY DAY!
Dublin is renowned for its festive atmosphere and the friendliness of its people. The many lively pubs available in the city are usual destination for tourists looking for enjoyable hours and some "craic". But Dublin is not only nightlife... Many places are well worth a visit (Trinity College, the National Museum, the Botanic Garden, the shopping areas of Grafton Street and Henry Street etc.etc.) there is something for everyone!
