Luxury Loft - Your Secluded Forest Retreat Awaits!

Bedrooms 1
Space 855 sq ft
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 2 - 5 nights

About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, Sleeps 4

Enjoy this spacious, luxury loft just minutes outside Whitefish! This romantic retreat-style setting is part of a very unique secluded property nestled within 2 wooded and private acres just 7 miles west of Whitefish. The overall property also happens to be our home :)

An ideal natural wonderland for those wanting to experience the beauty of Montana. If nature is your thing, the retreat's secluded alpine wilderness location provides plenty of opportunities to see wildlife like deer, elk, and birds right outside your door. If you want to be away from the crowds in town and on 'the mountain', yet you don't want to be too far out to enjoy the hustle and bustle when you want to, then this is the place for you. It truly is the best of both worlds - peaceful and serene when you want to take time out and curl up with good book and hot drink (or create your own novel!), or fun and lively when you want to take a jaunt into town.

The retreat is ideal for two but does have sleeping capacity for 4. If you need to accommodate a bigger group, please see our other listing for the attached house: VRBO Listing #683267. Consider renting the entire property (both loft and main house!).

PLEASE NOTE: While the adjoining loft has it's own completely separate and private entrance and rooftop deck, it is attached to the house and shares the laundry room space. The house may also be rented during your stay. You may hear the other guests in the house from time to time using the laundry room and also enjoying their time at Scouts Forest. House guests have exclusive access to the entire back garden area and this is not shared with the loft space.

The loft is split-level, with the lower level featuring a fully equipped kitchen with brand new appliances, dining room, and living room with luxury leather sofa with queen sleeper pullout (to sleep 2). The bathroom is on the lower level and equipped with stone shower and all amenities.

Stairs to the upper level transport you the spacious romantic queen bedroom loft suite featuring a brand new queen bed with pillow top mattress and luxury bedding as well as a comfortable leather futon. The private balcony and majestic window views look out onto the surrounding mountain, forest and meadow views.

A stay in this beautiful, spacious loft makes for a delightful and unforgettable retreat experience. We welcome you to your own Montana wonderland!

Nearby attractions:

Skiing or snowboarding at big mountain is a short hour drive away. With an average snowfall of 300 inches, vertical drop of 2350 ft, and 3 high-speed quads, this great American ski town makes for an amazing Montana destination.

Glacier National Park is considered the “Crown of the Continent Ecosystem,” with hundreds of species of animals and from glacier fields to prairie and tundra, Glacier National Park is the center of one of the largest and most intact ecosystems in North America. There are over 130 turquoise alpine lakes, mountain goats, moose, grizzly bears, and glacier cut mountains that are sure to leave you speechless. With over 700 miles of hiking trails, Glacier National Park is truly a scenic treasure.

About Steve and Jen

Hi, we are Jen & Steve and we truly love hosting and sharing our little piece of Montana with guests. As seasoned travelers ourselves, we know what it means to stay in a new place and we want to make our guests feel like this is a 'home-away-from home' sanctuary. Jen grew up on a ranch in Montana but migrated to Los Angeles early on to pursue an adventurous career in entertainment. She holds a Master's in Cultural & Media Studies from Claremont Graduate University and loves exploring new places, trying new recipes and being in nature. Her other half, Steve, is from jolly old Scotland and works in IT project management and as an online business entrepreneur. He is a helicopter pilot and loves Jack Russell terriers and fine Scottish ale. We met in Slovakia while Jen was on a Fulbright scholarship and Steve was on vacation, and ended up courting for a year traveling through Europe, UK and Scandinavia. We were married in Glacier National Park on beautiful Lake MacDonald in a Scottish-American wedding (complete with bagpipers and kilts!) and split our time between Montana, California and the UK.

Steve and Jen purchased this apartment in 2014

Why Steve and Jen chose Whitefish

What makes Scouts Forest such a special property to us is the serenity and peace we feel when we come here. It's such a welcome respite from the hectic day to day to just get into nature and unplug. That's why we call it a 'retreat-style experience'. The stillness, the quiet and the nature that surrounds this place is exceptional. It's only 7 miles from downtown Whitefish and 7 more to the ski resort when you want the hustle and bustle, yet it feels like you're miles away from anywhere when you're here. Truly a private getaway. We really want our guests to relax, unwind and enjoy this nature paradise and have tried to provide all the amenities to do that.

What makes this apartment unique

We fell in love with the area first before we even walked into the house. The sprawling horse ranches, the abundant wildlife right in the backyard and the organic farm across the road made it appealing as did the nearby hiking trails and lakes. To be able to meander across the way in the summer, pet the horses and pick out our fresh, organic produce was a treat! We love the contemporary yet rustic design of the house, it's functionality and the 'good-bones' inside, the open floor plan in the kitchen, dining and living room which makes it ideal for family get togethers and entertaining (which is something we love to do!). We love the privacy and spaciousness, plus listening to the mountain waterfall by the side of the house makes for a heavenly night's sleep!

Quiet and peaceful!

  • 5 of 5

The loft was everything we were hoping for and more! It was beautifully done and very spacious. It was a few miles from town which we liked because it was so quiet and there was an abundance of wildlife along the way and on the property. It was just what we wanted to relax in after hiking in Glacier NP all day. We loved the sound of the waterfall and loved all the rocks and trees that made up the property! Well done Jen and Steve!

Great place to stay - highly recommend!

  • 5 of 5

The loft is a great place to stay. We rented the loft and attached main house as we had a lot of family going to Whitefish for a wedding. We all loved it and highly recommend it. Jen & Steve are great to work with - they responded promptly to all my communications, and they clearly work hard to make guests feel comfortable and welcome. The amenities are high quality and the home is very well maintained. We would definitely stay here again if the opportunity arises!

The loft has everything in an idealic setting.

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable, clean and cozy, the loft is a 5 star VRBO reTREAT. The perfect distance from Whitefish, and nestled into a forested hillside with blooming flowers and waterfall, the loft felt like home after a few days. Nature abounds in its tranquil setting. Our favorite time was the roosting hour when the the wild turkey ascended into the surrounding pines for the evening. We highly recommend the loft for a quick get-a-way or to anyone who wants to explore all that the area has to offer over the course of a week. Thanks J and S!

Beautiful Home!

  • 4 of 5

We are traveling cross-country and staying in VRBOs all the way. This is probably the most beautiful of all the homes. The house is very well made and very well decorated. Everything from the windows to the appliances are highest quality. It was very comfortable. We were able to meet the owner who was very pleasant and helpful.

The reason I didn't give it five stars is that it is truly OUT in the country and no TV -- if that's what you're looking for then you'll be very happy here. Also, keep in mind that you might be sharing the house with another renter. We found this a little uncomfortable since we could hear them and so we felt we needed to be quiet so that they couldn't hear us. Neither of these two issues would keep us from coming back to this beautiful place but just keep that in mind as you make you plans.

All-in-all a great place to stay.

Owner's Response: Hi PapaAndGran - It was a pleasure hosting you on your cross-country trek and accommodating you with all your needs. We do indeed subscribe to a retreat-style experience for our guests at Scouts Forest and do not have cable TV (by choice), however, we do have TV, a Blue ray/DVD player and free wi-fi. We want to make sure future guests know they can certainly get their favorite movies and shows if the mood strikes!

Adorable, Cozy, Comfortable, & Relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

We traveled all the way from San Diego to discover the gorgeous mountains, forests, and lakes of Montana & Glacier National Park. Staying at Steve and Jen's beautiful loft in Scouts Forest was exactly what we needed: comfort and spaciousness in a relaxing and rustic atmosphere. Everything was beautifully, meticulously decorated. The cabinets were well-stocked with pots and pans, utensils, spices, hand soap, lotion, etc. The whole place was clean, and the location was perfect. From the lovely deck, our view of the backyard was a lush, private forest where we spotted deer and wild turkeys numerous times. There was tons of space for our little family, and the children were thrilled to discover they could still watch their favorite shows on Netflix after full days of lovely hiking! Thank you, Jen and Steve, for your adorable home that truly felt like home to us. My kids even started calling it "Our Forest Home." And we think that's a perfect name!

Perfect Place!

  • 5 of 5

Been here for 3 months and absolutely LOVE this loft! Quiet, secluded, beautifully built and comfortable. It's a dream, and I hate to leave it. I would recommend it for anybody who needs to escape or rejuvenate. The owners are great people and the neighbors next door in the house are awesome. Rarely see or hear them, except for an occasional door slam or a same time arrival/departure in the shared garage. Beautiful place!
