Gatherall's Boat Tours Ltd. purchased this chalet in 2014

Why Gatherall's Boat Tours Ltd. chose Newfoundland and Labrador

We selected this chalet as it is ideally located at the end of Deer Lake and the start of the beautiful Humber River. Its in authentic wilderness setting yet has all the major immunities practically on the doorstep.

It's a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts whether your fancy is alpine skiing or casual hikes, snowmobiling or snowshoeing, golfing or fly fishing.

What makes this chalet unique

This chalet is very cosy with its open kitchen and living room encourages guests to share in the views of the Humber River and the surrounding hills of Passadena.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We really enjoyed our stay at Gatherall's cottage. The cottage is beautiful inside , matched only by the natural beauty of the surrounding region. The cottage was very clean and the kitchen well supplied. Mike was proactive and very responsive in communicating with us. There's lots to do nearby and Gros Morne is a comfortable drive for a day trip.

Good house, peaceful location.

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay in the chalet on lakeside drive. The house was clean and bright with beautiful views of the lake from the decks. It was spacious enough to accommodate the six of us, was well equipped and the beds were comfortable. We also enjoyed the hot tub and the patio by the lake. The location worked well as a base for us to explore Gross Morne park where we had some beautiful hikes.

We're just wrapping up our stay here at this terrific home. The house has gorgeous views and is clean and well-appointed. We all enjoyed the hot tub and the decks that overlook the water. We didn't have any trouble with the TV and enjoyed watching it after busy days of hiking. The nearest trails in Gros Morne Park are about an hour's drive. Corner Brook is about 20 minutes away. Madison's restaurant at the Marble Inn was our favourite spot to eat.

Owner's Response: Hi Folks. Great to hear that you had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed your time in our chalet. We love the location - close to everything you need but far enough away to feel that you are deep in the wilds! The hot tub by the river is wonderful - a great way to unwind after a full day in the outdoors for sure. We look forward to your next visit. If you are travelling in the Avalin, please be sure to pop by & say hi. Cheers. Mike

Truly exceptional rental!

  • 5 of 5

We were completely blown-away by our time spent at this gorgeous chalet! From the view overlooking the river, to the hot tub, and the very well-appointed interior. All of the furniture (including the beds!) were comfortable, well-cared for and in excellent condition. Everything was spotlessly clean, and in good working order. One thing we really appreciated was that each of the bedrooms had it's own ensuite bathroom with shower. The master bedroom on the main floor had a walk-in shower which was perfect for an elderly family member with mobility limitations.

This property was an absolutely perfect spot to explore the area - conveniently located close to many attractions, and with very easy access to the highway.

Mike was available to answer any questions we had, and to ensure that our time at the cottage was enjoyable.

We would highly recommend this rental to anyone looking for a top-quality place to stay while exploring the west coast area.

Pretty location- nice rental

  • 5 of 5

It's a very nice rental, right on the river. You can walk down the hill in the garden to the shore. Home is in the humber valley resort so Golfing is inexpensive and nearby. Home was nicely cleaned.

The TV - read the directions - before you try. Or use your own telus on the go because the wireless is strong.

Hot tub was nice. Parking is better here than most other rentals on the waterfront. I have rented others at Humber Valley; this one has the best layout; good sturdy outdoor furniture; and a patio next to water for a late night cocktail after hother tub. Its maintained better than the others I have stayed at.

Owners respond quickly and are very nice.

Peaceful and clean

  • 5 of 5

We are 6 seniors who have rented homes on the Humber 3 or 4 times. This chalet was the cleanest and best equipped house we have rented by far. We did need extra linens and they were provided with a smile. All the little things a renter needs for a few days was provided, like tissues in every room and dishwasher and laundry soap pods. Each bedroom was spacious and had its own bathroom and each bedroom had beautiful views of the river, which was accessible from the lower rear deck. While we did not avail of the hot tub, we did enjoy sitting on the deck that surrounded it and it is right on the riverbank. It was comfortable and cozy and we enjoyed it very much. The golf course is a few minutes away and was so beautiful. If you are a TV watcher, the only tv is over the fireplace. It was a tricky system with many remotes and we managed to get Netflix on it. But that was all. Not a big deal though....everything else was perfect!! We would definitely recommend this chalet......

Owner's Response: Hi Folks. Thanks so much for choosing our chalet. Agnes, our housekeeper takes great care & pride in keeping the place meticulous - I'll be sure to pass along your comments. Glad to hear that you had a great time and enjoyed the surroundings & views! Next time you may want to have the tub as well - its great to soak in the tub while soaking in the view especially after a hard day on the championship golf course. Hope you keep us in mind for future visits. Be sure to pop by Gatherall's Puffin & Whale Watch when you are in the St. John's area. Cheers. Mike
