It's a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts whether your fancy is alpine skiing or casual hikes, snowmobiling or snowshoeing, golfing or fly fishing.

What makes this chalet unique

This chalet is very cosy with its open kitchen and living room encourages guests to share in the views of the Humber River and the surrounding hills of Passadena.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We really enjoyed our stay at Gatherall's cottage. The cottage is beautiful inside , matched only by the natural beauty of the surrounding region. The cottage was very clean and the kitchen well supplied. Mike was proactive and very responsive in communicating with us. There's lots to do nearby and Gros Morne is a comfortable drive for a day trip.

The accommodation was perfectly situated for us, as we were playing at the Senior Golf Championships

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed the convenience and lovely accommodations for the three of us who were participation in a 3-day golf tournament. The cabin was very comfortable and we enjoyed both the open shared living space as well as the personal bedroom and bathroom spaces. We also enjoyed the lake view and great views.

Clean, well appointed, and private.

We had a terrific stay during our wedding weekend. Spacious chalet, intimate beachfront setting, enclosed hot tub (good working order and clean). Well stocked place including some coffee, plenty of towels, and even a bottle of red wine (thanks!)

Two issues which were most likely isolated:

1- Billions of moths, must have been hatching season. Harmless but still unsightly. Recommend not leaving lights on over exterior doors and closing curtains as they were attracted to the light.

2- Beach had some cans from previous guests. We cleaned up and hopefully all guests can respect the property in same way.

Overall thank you Michael for a wonderful stay. We would book again!

Owner's Response: Hi Allison. Wonderful to hear that you had a terrific stay! Glad you enjoyed the surroundings and the riverside hot tub & deck! Agnes does a fabulous job of cleaning the interior. However, during the summer period they reappear on the exterior almost immediately (especially around lighting fixtures) and are to be expected in this type of wilderness setting. The beach area had been cleaned recently - we hope and ask that all guests are respectful of our home and the surrounding property & wilderness. Thank you for being a great steward for the environment & our chalet. Hope we have the opportunity to host you during your next visit. Cheers. Mike

This was our first stop on a two-week vacation for four nights. The cottage, the surroundings, the location of the cottage was THE BEST! As a party of 6 adults, the consensus was that this home was perfect. The club house - up the hill - at the golf course had wonderful food. Corner Brook was 10 minutes away. Gros Morne was about an hour away. The kitchen had everything needed to cook awesome dinners - enjoyed inside the home and out at the hot tub deck with some wine...If we were to vacation again in Newfoundland - this home would be our first choice, but for a longer period - so we could take a tour boat that would enable us to fish and not have to worry about a pole or license along with enjoying entertainment - food - and a salty Captain.

Good house, peaceful location.

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay in the chalet on lakeside drive. The house was clean and bright with beautiful views of the lake from the decks. It was spacious enough to accommodate the six of us, was well equipped and the beds were comfortable. We also enjoyed the hot tub and the patio by the lake. The location worked well as a base for us to explore Gross Morne park where we had some beautiful hikes.

We're just wrapping up our stay here at this terrific home. The house has gorgeous views and is clean and well-appointed. We all enjoyed the hot tub and the decks that overlook the water. We didn't have any trouble with the TV and enjoyed watching it after busy days of hiking. The nearest trails in Gros Morne Park are about an hour's drive. Corner Brook is about 20 minutes away. Madison's restaurant at the Marble Inn was our favourite spot to eat.

Owner's Response: Hi Folks. Great to hear that you had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed your time in our chalet. We love the location - close to everything you need but far enough away to feel that you are deep in the wilds! The hot tub by the river is wonderful - a great way to unwind after a full day in the outdoors for sure. We look forward to your next visit. If you are travelling in the Avalin, please be sure to pop by & say hi. Cheers. Mike

Truly exceptional rental!

  • 5 of 5

We were completely blown-away by our time spent at this gorgeous chalet! From the view overlooking the river, to the hot tub, and the very well-appointed interior. All of the furniture (including the beds!) were comfortable, well-cared for and in excellent condition. Everything was spotlessly clean, and in good working order. One thing we really appreciated was that each of the bedrooms had it's own ensuite bathroom with shower. The master bedroom on the main floor had a walk-in shower which was perfect for an elderly family member with mobility limitations.

This property was an absolutely perfect spot to explore the area - conveniently located close to many attractions, and with very easy access to the highway.

Mike was available to answer any questions we had, and to ensure that our time at the cottage was enjoyable.

We would highly recommend this rental to anyone looking for a top-quality place to stay while exploring the west coast area.
