Overview

About the property

A 20 minute drive to the Caribbean beaches of Tulum, Casita Milagros is located in a small private jungle community that is secured by a front entrance gate. Elevated among the trees in a high canopy jungle, this completely sustainable queen bedded room has windows on all sides bringing the outdoors in, and is equipped with a ceiling fan, mosquito netting and bathroom. It features an outdoor hot water shower surrounded by tropical plants to ensure privacy and an outdoor kitchen with a 2 burner gas stove top and sink.

The easily accessible rooftop is a beautiful place to watch the toucans and spider monkeys that often visit in the early evening. Twilight brings shades of deep blue to the jungle sky and a signal to mother nature that bedtime is near. Animals traversing the treetops in search of their nests provide a symphony of sound just before the spray of starlight quiets all.

After lounging on the white sand beaches, swimming in the turquoise blue ocean waters, visiting the Mayan ruins of Tulum or Coba, shopping in Tulum Centro, and exploring the nearby Mayan villages, Casita Milagros is a tranquil retreat.

Magical!

  • 5 of 5

There is seriously something so beautiful at work here at this wonderful place. I have never felt so welcomed and so at peace. Each afternoon/evening we came home after a day of exploring Sian Kaan or Tulum, and we were greeted with a path of lights and a comfortable bed. The outdoor shower was especially great- I can't say that I will ever have another opportunity to shower outside in the middle of the jungle. I am so grateful we also had the opportunity to meet Clayanna, who is a wonderful example of giving as much or more to the Earth than you take from her. Forever changed and forever grateful to have visited.

Charming Getaway with Wonderful Hostess

  • 5 of 5

At Casa Milagros you’ll find many pleasant surprises, but the best part is Clayanna Henry. She’s a genuinely courteous hostess who goes out of her way to make sure you enjoy your stay. Plus it was Clayanna’s vision to craft a sustainable “off the grid” jungle sanctuary that allows Casa Milagros to function as it does. From rainwater cistern to solar panels, it felt great to be part of such a holistic way of living in harmony with the surroundings. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer!

Among our favorite wonders we discovered at Casa Milagros: waking up among the trees framed through three walls of high windows; swinging on hammocks in no less than three locations; listening to the jungle at night; cooking at the outdoor kitchen; using the outdoor shower (hot water included!); hearing the sound of raindrops spattering on enormous fan leaves; walking to the communal palapa five minutes up the road; and enjoying the many artsy lights that Clayanna has so carefully arranged about the property.

For our personal story, we arrived at Casa Milagros highly stressed because I’d left my wallet in a cab and we were down to a mere 20 pesos. A day at the tranquil casita eased us back into relaxation mode. Then on the day we checked out Clayanna went above and beyond to drive us to a bank, and when that didn’t work out she came up with an ingenious solution to help us continue our travels. I’m mainly sharing this as a way of relaying Clayanna’s generous nature. She’s also very open about how Casa Milagros came to be, so take the time to ask her all about it.

Our one insight to offer is that it’s probably easiest if you own or rent a car for getting back and forth to town. Taxis can also work fine, it would just be easier with your own vehicle. Oh, and make sure you have plenty of storage space on your camera/phone because the photo ops will be all around you.

We want to express a very special thanks to our hostess for all her gracious and thoughtful help. THANKS Clayanna!!!! - Kurt+Stephanie

Gorgeous property and home space! Utopia realized.

  • 5 of 5

This property is about 15 miles or so from Tulum, on the road to Coba. We followed Clayanna from the market in town.

There is a gate at the road, then a mile long drive through jungle to her beautiful dwelling. It could not be more peaceful or lovely.

She made us feel very welcome and the space is quite comfortable, with a nice bed and everything you need to feel at home. She has spared no expense to make things feel very special.

In the morning we did get to see the monkeys come through. I wish I had been able to stay here for a few days to just relax.

There is a fantastic Mayan mud spa that does a three hour massage, mud bath treatment that is amazing just five more miles up the road.

I will definitely return to this peaceful sanctuary.

Thanks so much Clayanna!

Beautiful property!

  • 5 of 5

Highly recommended. Very cool environment situated in the jungle of Tulum, towards the ruins of Coba. Clayanna is very helpful and made our stay wonderful. The living quarters were very peaceful, comfortable and clean. The outside shower is delightful. Although we choose to eat out for most meals, the little outside kitchenette was great for coffee in the morning so that we could be on our way and explore. I would definitely come back and recommend to family and friends.

We are experienced and hardy travelers who shun hotels and most resorts. This fit us perfectly.

Casa Milagros is 15k west of Tulum and then up a 1 mile rough track into the jungle. It sits close to the end of the road in a "community" of residents who have carved homes/retreats out of 2(?) acre lots in the jungle. No "neighbors" are visible. That's the setting. The Casa is a wonderful creative concept from the owner/hostess. A circular owner house and the separate treehouse rental with everything designed to be sustainable in the jungle. It is magical. It is also not for everyone. Why not? The treehouse is a walled but open aired (with screens on windows and lacy netting around the bed) bedroom with a composting toilet. Your kitchen, dining room, living room, and shower are open on the ground level with jungle and hostess conceived lighting all around. We loved it, but this is why we travel. Clayanna is a gracious and warm hostess who created all that is Casa Milagros. A great Mayan jungle experience. We are certified bird nerds and the birding was exceptional.

We loved our stay! Especially loved the bed. We had our best sleep here for our whole vacation. Gorgeous place with beautiful art, birds and monkeys! And the most accommodating host. Thank you Clayanna!
