About the property

A 20 minute drive to the Caribbean beaches of Tulum, Casita Milagros is located in a small private jungle community that is secured by a front entrance gate. Elevated among the trees in a high canopy jungle, this completely sustainable queen bedded room has windows on all sides bringing the outdoors in, and is equipped with a ceiling fan, mosquito netting and bathroom. It features an outdoor hot water shower surrounded by tropical plants to ensure privacy and an outdoor kitchen with a 2 burner gas stove top and sink.

The easily accessible rooftop is a beautiful place to watch the toucans and spider monkeys that often visit in the early evening. Twilight brings shades of deep blue to the jungle sky and a signal to mother nature that bedtime is near. Animals traversing the treetops in search of their nests provide a symphony of sound just before the spray of starlight quiets all.

After lounging on the white sand beaches, swimming in the turquoise blue ocean waters, visiting the Mayan ruins of Tulum or Coba, shopping in Tulum Centro, and exploring the nearby Mayan villages, Casita Milagros is a tranquil retreat.

We are experienced and hardy travelers who shun hotels and most resorts. This fit us perfectly.

Casa Milagros is 15k west of Tulum and then up a 1 mile rough track into the jungle. It sits close to the end of the road in a "community" of residents who have carved homes/retreats out of 2(?) acre lots in the jungle. No "neighbors" are visible. That's the setting. The Casa is a wonderful creative concept from the owner/hostess. A circular owner house and the separate treehouse rental with everything designed to be sustainable in the jungle. It is magical. It is also not for everyone. Why not? The treehouse is a walled but open aired (with screens on windows and lacy netting around the bed) bedroom with a composting toilet. Your kitchen, dining room, living room, and shower are open on the ground level with jungle and hostess conceived lighting all around. We loved it, but this is why we travel. Clayanna is a gracious and warm hostess who created all that is Casa Milagros. A great Mayan jungle experience. We are certified bird nerds and the birding was exceptional.

Fantastic Stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at Casita Milagros, very unique place tucked in the jungle. Highly recommended for anyone considering staying in the Tulum area. Clayanna was a very accommodating host with excellent recommendations for attractions and local restaurants.

The treehouse and property far exceeded our expectations! Quiet, private with lots of light.

Clayanna was a most wonderful host. I was in awe of her creativity in building both her own octagonal home and the custom crafted treehouse which was light and airy. We were visited by a group of spider monkeys which travel through the property daily... they put on a wonderful show for us. It was magical to shower outdoors surrounded by tropical plants.... the stonework around the property was fabulous. We loved the lanterns in the trees .... we sat outside in the garden ( I was in the hammock) every night listening to the songs of the critters. There is a wonderful huge space to have a bonfire with hammocks. The outside dining area is so romantic. The outside kitchen has everything you would need. Even though it is only about 15 minutes drive from Tulum, it would be pretty difficult to enjoy the area without a car. There are some really cool cenotes close by for freshwater swimming, and Coba and the monkey sanctuary are about 30 minutes drive away. We loved picking up food from Tulum, relaxing in the hammock sipping on a marguerita and having a romantic dinner surrounded by jungle. We did not get any mosquito bites.... did not even hear any. The composting toilet did not smell at all.... it was probably the best toilet experience we had as very few toilets seemed to work in Mexico! We expected a very rustic experience..... it was much more luxurious than we expected.... the pictures do not do it justice. It is a magical place.... we feel so fortunate to have found this gem. We will definitely return.

Owner's Response: Thank you, my friends! There is an unspoken understanding between those of us that bow in reverence to Mother Nature, and assume a place amongst her occupants to work cooperatively and responsibly as we share the richness of her resources. This place is magical but not because of me because of US ....all of us who have been drawn here to live or visit for however long; some of us under roof and some of us in the tree tops! We await your return!

Fascinating vacation experience

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful, lush jungle setting 15 minutes from Tulum. While at least one couple reported staying here without a car (that's adventurous!) we enjoyed heading out in a different direction each day, to the beach or to the ruins or for an interesting day in Valladolid. And the casita is a great place to get away from it all and relax.

A jungle fantasy

  • 5 of 5

After meeting Clayanna (very charming) we followed her out to the property. The minute I saw the place I regretted booking only two nights there. We were in Mexico for two weeks and we tried to do too much. Casita Milagros was a magical oasis of quiet and stillness within a very hectic vacation schedule. The treehouse feels like something from a fantasy novel with the most comfortable bed we've ever slept on. The jungle sounds are an ideal soundscape to sleep within. It is a perfect place to meditate and rediscover one's center. My wife and I do not typically return to previously visited areas, the world is a big place and there is more to see. However, we may make an exception in the case of Tulum, just so we can stay at Casita Milagros again, but next time we'll stay at least a week!

Owner's Response: When one resonates with the rhythm of the jungle, it leaves an indelible impression. We know when we belong! It was a pleasure sharing my home with you and your wife. Come back soon!!
