Get a real taste of the Rocky Mountains of western Montana in this rustic lodge at this private, log home retreat in the Swan Valley. Enjoy magnificent views of the Swan Range of the Bob Marshall Wilderness to the east and Mission Mountains Wilderness to the west. This retreat overlooks a spring-fed wildlife pond and wetlands. The Swan River is not far with its cascading beauty. Elk, native trout, great blue herons, frogs, deer, ducks, geese, and moose are among the frequent inhabitants. Located in a region of dozens of pristine lakes, waterfalls, rivers, and mountain trails, there are ample opportunities for recreation.
This retreat is perfectly situated for wildlife viewing opportunities and the enjoyment of the outdoors. Holland Lake six miles away you can take a short hike to a waterfall, enjoy a romantic canoe or kayak paddle in a glacial cirque, go horseback riding, and end the day at the historic Holland Lake Lodge for dinner or a drink. Other outdoor opportunities include fly fishing the Swan River, mountain biking the myriad of trails and roads on public lands in the region, huckleberry-picking, cross-country skiing right out the door, and - for the more adventurous - wilderness excursions into the Bob Marshall and Mission Mountains.
A scenic drive to the north past beautiful Swan Lake brings you to Big Fork, a unique town on the edge of Flathead Lake where art galleries, boutiques, cafes, music and drama festivals, restaurants, and lake boat tours can round out your experience in the region. (If you like to stay closer to the cabin, there is a little country store and cafe 2 miles from the cabin, and 6 miles further is a full grocery with gas station and bakery.
Just one-and-one-half hours from the cabin to the north is Glacier National Park and Whitefish Ski Resort (Big Mountain). Twenty-five minutes to the south is Seeley Lake, where additional recreational opportunities such as waterskiing, birdwatching along a canoe trail, golfing, and holiday celebrations are available.
The master bedroom has a large double log bed and an eye-popping mountain view and private bathroom. There is another bedroom (bunked full-size and twin bed) and main bathroom upstairs, plus a huge carpeted basement bedroom/recreation room (three twin beds) with its own wood stove. Relax in the cozy living room with leather and log furniture under a vaulted ceiling. A full kitchen with new stainless steel appliances will allow you to cook a mountain feast in luxury!

Scott is a Wildlife Biologist and Lisa is an educator. We have a son and a daughter who love to visit the cabin.
Lisa Mills purchased this cabin in 2004
Scott's wildlife research takes him to the Swan Valley and Glacier National Park regularly, and we happened across this property and thought it could serve a dual purpose- as a getaway for us during the 'off-season' and as a vacation rental the rest of the time.
We love to watch birds, hike, pick huckleberries, boat on Holland Lake, and discover all that nature has to offer. We also run to the visitor journal we keep on the counter, we so enjoy reading about the adventures our guests have had while staying at our place.
Lisa, after talking with you on phone I knew it would be a good stay. But is was an awesome visit. The house was great. Just what a southern Alabama couple longs for. Our Florida friends have been all over US and they were so excited. They have never seen this many deer. I could write a book but to sum it up AWESOME!😉Linda and Harmon Strickland our friends Nanci and Johnny West
Cabin was clean spacious! Beautiful setting and perfect for a mountain get away!
This was a great place to get away to and spend time with family in an absolutely beautiful area of the country. I would easily recommend this to anyone. Particularly if you want to get away from your wired life.
The owner was also very cooperative and the place was very clean.
Loved our few days spent at this home. Just a few miles from Holland Lake (our favorite lake in Montana), you have easy access to hiking, lakes, fishing. Our kids loved the nature walk down to the river, chasing frogs and catching minnows. The adults loved sitting around the campfire watching the evening glow of the mountains. Perfectly appointed Montana log home with stunning mountain views.
We loved the Mills' cabin. What a beautiful and peaceful place. Great selection of games, books, movies, maps (which came in handy during the rain). Beautiful views, comfortable beds, nice fireplace. Great base to visit Holland Lake , Seeley Lake, Garnet Ghost Town, Glacier National Park and Missoula. Luckily we found out just before getting to Condon that the local supermarket burned down in May so we got our groceries on the way at Seeley Lake (the little remaining store in Condon has basics only). Lisa was very helpful giving us tips about the area. Would have loved to stay longer!!
My wife and I stayed for a week, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves with the quiet time before the summer vacations started. Lots of deer around at any time of day, so please drive 55 on the highway through Swan Valley!
"Early season" means last of the snow melt and "blown out" rivers, so fishing is limited to lakes until rivers and streams come down in flows. Try the Glacier lake from the trailhead at the end of Kraft Creek Rd., just South of Condon, and be ready for goosebumps after the 11/2 hike. Really nice cutthroat trout in the large outflow pool. Carry bug spray, and a rain jacket and you won't be sorry! Weather changes quickly for good and bad.
Town of Bigfork just to the north is a wonderful daytrip, great people, outstanding food and coffee, good art galleries and bars.
The National Bison Range just west of Missoula has a wonderful Loop Road scenic drive, with bison, antelope, sheep, mule and whitetail deer, magpies and meadowlarks
If you have kids, try the Holland Lake area with good swimming and great views.
Be prepared for long daylight hours - dawn at 4:30AM and dusk at 9:30PM.
Better than a great value, this getaway more than satisfies comfort and relaxation.
Best of all, no billboards or nasty signage along the roads!
Close to Holland Lake lodge, which has canoe rentals, gift shop, gourmet meals, lovely waterfront, and a bar. Seeley Lake is 30 minutes away to the south and has a number of recreational attractions, banks and medical facilities, and more restaurants and gift shops. Big Fork to the north is known for its restaurants, the arts, gift shops, lake boat tours, antique shops, and more.
