We could not have been happier with our stay at Casa Testaccio. The apartment has everything we needed, and wanted, to be completely comfortable and make it our home for 5 days. Carlo and Alessandra are wonderful hosts and make themselves available to answer questions if needed. Testaccio is a real Roman neighborhood with great little shops for buying food and plenty of restaurants. The area is part of ancient Rome so its an interesting place to explore and not touristy (don't miss The Pyramide and old grave yard). Its easy to get to all the major sites in the city. The bus stop is just 5 minutes away and we even walked to the Colosseum. If you are looking for a place to stay in Rome we would highly recommend staying here. Thank you Carlo and Alessandra!
Of the numerous short-term apartments my wife and I have rented in the past five years on four continents, this one stands out as my best overall experience. The apartment is stylish, comfortable, clean and excellently located, away from tourist traps but close to the principal attractions and many good restaurants.. It offers outstanding value. Carlo and Alessandra are excellent hosts, available within minutes to answer any questions, and full of helpful suggestions about restaurants and sites in Rome. During our visit an elevator was being installed in the building. This would eliminate the only possible downside – the three flights of stairs to the apartment, which we didn't mind but may be an issue for some.
Carlos and Allesandra welcomed us when we arrived. They had arranged for a taxi to pick us up from the airport. A lovely man called Mauro (i think) collected us. He was charming and chatted all the way to the apartment. We also had him collect us and return to the airport. (50 euros each way)
Carlos and Allesandra showed us around the apartment and also told us lots of information about the area, restaurants, shops, buses, etc. They had left a bottle of wine, grapes, biscuits, water and some lovely cakes.
The apartment was spotless, very comfortable and well equipped for 2 people. It also felt very safe as the whole complex has a beautiful iron gate to the entrance, which you need a key to enter.
The area is quiet but has many lovely restaurants and bars. Nice to get back here after the hustle and bustle of the central area. Very easy to reach most places by bus. 7 euro per day, or 1 euro for 90 minutes. Or 20 minute walk to the Colosseum. We calculated we walked 32 miles over 4 days!!
Thank you for a truly amazing 4 days in Rome.

#In the same Neighborhood we have an other property that you can visit on the site www.HomeAway N. 6686625
The district is in a strategic position to freely move around the city and fully enjoy it.
It takes 20 minutes to reach us by train (FR1) from Fiumicino airport to Stazione Ostiense and about half an hour using Ryan Air bus Shuttle from Ciampino airport using ryan air bus shuttle and 'B' line to Piramide railway station. Underground station “Piramide” is close by and as well by a walking distance is 'Eataly', a food chain specialized in the best Italian quality food products and cooking recipes of typical foods.
To get to a majestic viewpoint of the city climb up to Colle Aventino (one of the seven roman hills) which will entice you with a romantic sight of Rome from the “Giardino degli Aranci' where you will have the possibility also to visit some of the oldest Churches of the city.
#From mid-June to aerly September, walking up to Ponts Sublicio, live demonstration of Roman summers 'along the Tiber Roman
#For the lovers of nightlife, via di Monte Testaccio (which rounds Monte deiCocci hill) offers several discos and 'movida' and on-fashion nightspots like Alibi, Radio Londra, Caffè Latino.
#Besides the Pyramid of CaioCestio you can find another exceptional historical site: the Monumental Protestants Cemetery for Foreigners (mostly English). It dates back to 1716, with the tombstones written in several languages and often with characters engraved with the traits of hand-writing. The setting is all surrounded by centuries-old cypress trees scattered among tombstones of writers, painters, historians and artists.
