Private home, tipicaly of the Alentejo region – ground floor, long rectangle, door and windows exposed to east. Inserted in a 2.3 acres property, close to the owners house but completely independent.
Located in a rural environment, at the arrival at Escoural village (department of Montemor-o-Novo), on the southern slope of the Monfurado Hills. Gives the kind of confort which is supposed to find in a traditional rural house with thick old whitewhashed walls and small windows (protection against external lower and higher temperatures), where you can look the stars, footwalking, buy warm bread,...
Obs: A cradle is available, and a sofa bed allows, in exceptional cases, lodging two extra people.
Living along the year at Cascais (Lisbon region), in principle we will be there for your arrival and leaving.
Maria Emília / Fernando RIBEIRO purchased this cottage in 2002
At the entry of the village and beside a road, we are not isolated and we go walking to take a coffee or so. However, the configuration of the buildings ("your" house and a small backyard protected from glances from outside) creates a little private street out of the traffic noise.
This country cottage is beautiful and has everything! The owners kindly provided excellent information about the history, culture, and attractions of the area, generously provided a refrigerator full of food and drink, and brought a surprise breakfast treat each morning. They even offered the use of bicycles for touring the countryside. The house is full of antiques, ornaments, and fragrances which are delightful (except for people with allergies and chemical sensitivities). This home is highly recommended for intelligent travellers who want to learn about the Evora region.

Dear Mrs. Ribiera, Mr Ribiera.
We would like to thank you very much. We are quite on tour in Europe and in Germany, but such a warm, friendly and attentive owner, we do not know yet.
The many friendly gestures like morning small regional surprises, sitting areas in the large garden in the shade, the fruits, the pool at 40 degrees, the beautiful large estate with the sheep, the frogs in the ponds and the frogs. But also the generous and typical house with its exquisite culture full amenities, including fresh flowers, gave us a nice stay in Alentejo. We waited for a rainy day to hear some of your great records, including rare pieces, ...
We say thank you, with you, we have gained a great impression of the Alentejo, its special autumnal charms.
we wish you the best,
Maria Emília and Fernando were extremely welcoming. They provided everything you could possibly want, excellent facilities and very clean. They had even supplied lots of food to start us off and a few surprises later on!
They were able to suggest places to visit and left us to enjoy our stay, though we could keep in touch if we had any concerns (which we didn't).
We would thoroughly recommend this place for a peaceful stay (but you are in the countryside where animals don't always sleep at night!).
