Description

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cottage in Sesimbra - Quintola

Romantic cottage. 10m from beaches. Beautiful view of countryside and the sea.

Enclosed in a 5.000 sqm property, Quintola is a beautiful Romantic Portuguese cottage, built from scratch in the rural/classical tradition with a magnificent view over the Meco/Sintra/Lisbon bay. Just 10 minutes from the beaches with private patio and terrace for sunbathing or al fresco dining.

The whole house has been built to take advantage of the marvelous view over the country and extending out to the sea. You can enjoy it from the bedroom, living room, patio and the roof terrace.

Walk barefoot along the hardwood, marble and terracota floors. Dine looking at the country and the sea or gazing at the Lisbon twilight.

If you prefer, dine inside, enjoying the ambient music throughout the house.

Situated in Quintola de Azóia, Lisbon is 45 minutes away if you want to explore this historical city. The fishing village of Sesimbra (10 min away) with the National Park of Arrábida and beaches including the nudist beach (Meco) are close at hand.

Since there is a Bus stop near the house, if you prefer, you can go by Bus to Sesimbra (15 min) or Lisbon (1 hour).

Sesimbra and Lagoa de Albufeira, are specially good to young children, as the waters are very calm and shallow.

Quiet area. Ideal for families or couples who want a romantic seaside or country holiday.

Once you experience the beaches you won't need anything else, however there's a very nice SWIMMING POOL available at a near by hotel (1 min drive). Our guests may use the outdoor pool, bar, etc, at a small fee (children 50%) payable directly to the hotel.

The Sesimbra gastronomy is strongly connected with the sea. The fish courses and seafood are in the 'top' of the preferences of our visitors. The sea fragrances and tastes rule in Sesimbra, but the products from the land are equally appreciated. Besides healthy, the local food satisfies the most demanding tastes.

The swordfish and the black swordfish are considered sublime. The seafood like cockle and mussel, between many others, are, equally, delicacies very demanding.

Other typical products of the region, like the home-made bread, the cheese of Azoia (near our house), the apple Camoesa and the winter pear, complete your healthy meal.

The sweets of the land are much appreciated as well. Visit us and enjoy the broas de Alfarim ( maize breads of Alfarim ), Zimbros, Brisas do castelo, Almirantes and Catarinas.

In Sesimbra, you can't go wrong, you can choose the restaurants blindfolded.

Winding ways are perfect for BTT practice. On the other hand, the cliffs are good for Scaling and Rappel practice.

With international recognition, the Caves are a delight for the speleologists. With less adrenalin, Golf allows to relax and develop concentration and memory skills. Walks provide a cheerful tranquility. There is a range of tracks that you'll find while you're walking.

Tied to the sea for centuries, Sesimbra still explores its sea resources, such as fishing. Nowadays, the town explores, successfully, water sports like Sailing, Diving, Recreational Fishing, Canoeing, Surf, Windsurf and Skimboard.

If you are an enthusiastic golf player, you will find in Sesimbra, surrounding area excellent golf courses. Six of the most known golf courses of the region are here nearby; between 15 and 45 minutes travelling by car:

Campo de Golfe da Aroeira (I e II), Clube Quinta do Peru, Campo de Golfe do Montado, Clube de Golfe de Troia, Campo RibaGolfe (I e II) and Vila Nova de Santo Estevao.

The Peninsula of Setubal is famous by the quality of its wines. Recognized as 'divine drink' the 'Moscatel' is a generous wine with superior quality. It's a Peninsula de Setubal exclusive.

In Aguas de Moura, Palmela, Pegoes, Vila Nogueira de Azeitão and Comporta you will find the wine cellars of the region that produces many distinguished wines.

The Wine Route of Peninsula de Setubal (Rota de Vinhos da Peninsula de Setubal) allows you to learn more about an impressive architectural, gastronomic, natural and wine inheritance. There are 6 routes expecting you, namely: 'Por Terras de Santiago' (On the Land of Santiago), 'Por Terras da Arrabida' (On the Land of the Arrabida), 'Por Terras Verdes' (On Green Lands), 'Por Terras de Colonos, Ferroviarios e Antigas Devoções' (On the Land of Settlers, Railway Workers and Ancient Devotions, 'Por Terras do Sado' (On the Land of the Sado), 'Por Terras da Baia dos Golfinhos' (On the Land of the Dolphins Bay).

Halfway between Lisbon and Sesimbra, on the West coast of Setubal peninsula lies Lagoa de Albufeira.

Beautiful lagoon near the sandy beach of the same name, harbours one of the biggest pine tree forests in Portugal, and provides a safe place for children to play.

Cape Espichel is a popular place from which to watch the sunset. This is one of the most western observation points on the European continent. There is a very old (17th century), beautifully restored, church there, with baroque paintings and a frescoed ceiling, providing regular church services.

This cape offers amazing views to the Atlantic, with a lighthouse signaling its dangerous cliffs to sailors.

Near Cabo Espichel, you will also find several lanes of dinosaurs footprints (Pedra da Mua) that roved around in herds by the Jurassic times.

At the Cape, every Sunday in the morning , there's also a motorcycle gathering from all over the country.

To the East of Sesimbra lies Arrabida Natural Park with natural caves, more beaches and beautiful trails.

Stunning, thickly green and hilly, edged by gleamingly clean, golden beaches, the Arrábida Natural Park stretches along the south-eastern coast of the Setubal Peninsula from Setubal to Sesimbra.

Covering the 35km-long Serra da Arrabida mountain ridge, this is an area rich in Mediterranean plants, from olive, pistachio and strawberry to lavender, thyme and camomile, with attendant butterflies, beetles and birds (especially birds of prey) and even 70 types of seaweed.

Local honey is delicious, especially that produced in the gardens of the whitewashed, red-roofed Convento da Arrábida, a 16th-century former monastery overlooking the sea just north of Portinho (best days to visit are Tuesday or Thursday, but call ahead).

Another famous product is Azeitao ewe's cheese, with a characteristic flavour that owes much to lush Arrabida pastures and a variety of thistle used in the curdling process.

You can also make daytrips to Comporta. There, you will find 12 Kilometers (7.5 miles) of crystalline, blue water blending seamlessly with the sky and clean white sands.

Along the Comporta coast there are 3 beaches classified as bathing beaches – Comporta beach, Pego beach and Carvalhal beach. They are all environmentally certified and have Blue Flag and Accessible Beach quality seals enabling people with reduced mobility to enjoy the pleasures of beach life.

For those prepared to take that little step further, Costa Vicentina beaches are an excellent alternative for those seeking a break away from the crowds. Taking a little longer to reach, these beaches have remained pretty much as nature created them, some of them still totally deserted.

There are both broad expanses of fine white sands and small beaches tucked in between rocky headlands. And you may well feel you have the entire beach and the welcoming sea all to yourself as the temperatures are always pleasant in this southerly region.

Many sports are possible in our area.

Some of them include:

- Trekking

- Mountain-biking

- Scaling

- Speleology

- Golf

- Paragliding

- Walks

- Dolphin watching

- Canoeing

- Snorkeling

- Boat tours

- Fishing and deep sea fishing

- Surf and Bodyboard

- Windsurf and Kitesurf

- Sailing

- Jeep safaris

- Scaling

- Rappel

- Helicopter flight

- Horse Riding

and anything else connected to the sea . . .

Why Rodrigo Coutinho chose Costa Azul - Setubal area

My parents have a beach house near, so we came since we were children to the beaches and the country.

When it came the time to choose a place to live, it was natural for us to settle and build our home here, on this beautifull mix of sea and country, where sometimes in the morning you can still hear and smell the fresh sea.

Gelungenes Paket mit Kochstelle und Traumausblcik

  • 5 of 5

Erholung pur

  • 5 of 5

nice house with splendid view

  • 5 of 5

After a warm welcome of the very nice and helpfull owners Rodrigo and Carla we have had a perfect stay at the house during two weeks.

The house is situated on a main road ( it is a road with no much traffic and you don t suffer from it) and on

a large plot and you have from the backside terrace a splendid view on the ocean and on the coast on the otherside ( Lisboa/ Cascais) ; also from the inside of the house you can enjoy the fantastic panorama because of the large square windows in the living and the master bedroom.

Inside the house is very cosy with a good atmosphere and everything you need and you have also at your own house is available.

Nearby the house there are several beautiful beaches : very calm ( except for the weekend ) and reachable within 6 minutes

When you are seeking for tranquility you are at the right place : it is a quiet area : small quiet villages in the neigbourhood with everywhere nice cosy simple restaurants, bars and small shops where local people come together . When you want some more crowdy places you can go to sesimbra ( 10 minutes by car )a busy village with a lot of nice restaurants, bars , terraces shops and a crowdy beach ; you can also find here the larger supermarkets. It s also very easy to visit Setubal and Lisboa ( in 45 minutes you are in the center of this lovely town)

A requirement for your stay is a car that you need for the daily shopping and to visit the broader surroundings ( sesimbra, setubal, lisboa

in short ; perfect house , fantastic stay : we will certainly come back

Traumhaft

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5

Owner's Response: It's very rewarding to know our guests have enjoyed our home. Our area is indeed blessed with many beaches, to satisfy the more demanding tastes. We have small sandy beaches, infinite sandy beaches, lagoons, rocky ones, pebbled beaches, nude beaches, some with calm waters and others more suitable to water sports. We do try to supply our guests with everything they might need during their stay, so they don't have to worry during their holiday and can travel with less luggage. And last but not least, I have to thank our guests for watering our plants during those hot endless summer days.

Traumhaus mit wunderschönem Panoramablick

  • 5 of 5
