An excellent stay in a quiet, well situated and comfortable house with a lovely garden.

The house is set amongst farm fields approx. 15 minutes walk (all up and down!) or four mins drive from the village of Tauves. Immediate neighbours are several small herds of cows, some with bells, making it a peaceful, traditional rural setting with views across the rolling countryside to the Sancy mountains.

The village of Tauves has a couple of bakeries, a small supermarket, butcher, several small cafés including a pizzeria and a hardware shop. There is also a tourist office and a weekly market. There was also a tennis court. It seemed a pleasant place on our visit to the village.

The traditionally-styled house has thick walls and stone floors on the ground floor which enabled it to stay pleasantly cool despite the very warm summer weather (33C). Upstairs was understandably hotter, but French windows in all the bedrooms made it possible to get a bit of a breeze through the bedrooms in the evening.

The three bedrooms were comfortable. They shared a small wc upstairs, the main bedroom also having a basin and walk-in shower. A larger bathroom with wc, bath and walk-in shower is situated on the ground floor. As well as the kitchen and dining room / sitting room downstairs, there’s a further seating area upstairs that also has a pool table as well as tv, hifi and games console. The downstairs area has a tv/dvd player too. A table tennis table is set up for use in one of the garages and there’s a good selections of balls and outdoor games and some bicycles. Outside the kitchen there’s a pleasant seating area and table. There is a wifi internet connection that works through most of the house, though didn't quite make it to the outside seating area. The bandwidth/connection is low/slow, so whilst fine for email and web browsing is more of a challenge if you need to download anything larger. A patchy 4G signal was available in some of the larger towns around and about and this proved more reliable.

The landscaped garden was large, and though undulating and in parts quite sloped, was sufficiently big and varied for the children to play ball games without problem. The garden is well kept and was cared for by a friendly and helpful gardener who also acted as key holder, welcome party and font of local knowledge.

We (myself, my wife, 9 and 4 year old sons and my mother) had a very comfortable stay here and wouldn’t hesitate to return should we holiday in the Auvergne again.

A spacious well equipped property. The bedrooms were light and airy and one could relax in the comfortable upstairs or downstairs lounge areas. The kitchen opened directly onto an outside dining area. The extensive garden surrounding the property was maintained in an immaculate condition. Although the front of the property fronted a narrow road there was privacy behind the conifer hedge and few or no vehicles to cause a disturbance. We soon got used to the cowbells on the cattle in the distant fields. In the absence of the owner we were welcomed at looked after extremely well by Loic the gardener. It was the perfect place to relax and yet there were interesting places to visit without having to travel large distances.

trés belle maison bien située au calme

malgré les orages, nous avons passé une trés belle semaine. La maison est trés confortable et trés joliment décorée. A cause de la pluie, nous avons peu profité du jardin.

Excellent séjour !!!

Très belles prestations tout à fait conformes à l'annonce. La maison est charmante, propre, spacieuse et très bien équipée. Parfaitement adaptée pour 2 couples avec enfants. Mezzanine transformée en espace détente : jeux de société, Wii ... et vrai billard !!! Juste génial. A noter également un accueil vraiment sympa. On valide donc !!!
