Living in Alaska, we are attracted to the idea of owning a second home in a warm climate. My wife is an avid golfer, so this is the perfect complement to her short golf season in Anchorage. She loves organizing golf trips with her golf friends from Anchorage.
This property appealed to us because of its wonderful views of the mountains. From Alaska, we are spoiled with fantastic scenery and imagined the Phoenix Valley to have lots of flat, lowland housing. But this property has some elevation and looks out over the valley to the east mountains in the distance. The ample windows in the dining area make the most of the scenery.
The best things about this property are the location in Fountain Hills (truly a charming community), the outdoor covered deck, the pool in the back near our fruit trees, and the new countertops, paint and appliances. It's all very enjoyable and comfortable.
This place has the magic of windows and light. The East view is spectacular. The location is convienent to town and is relatively quiet. The morning commute is a bit more street sound than the rest of the day. This is a good walking area. The unit is clean enough but not deep cleaned. The kitchen needs better cook ware relative to the cost of rent. The place shows more wear than last year and the second bed (day bed with two mattresses) needs a new pair of mattresses and more blankets and a second pair of sheets.
The stairs to the enterance need safety rails!
There is nothing better than coffee on the deck at sunrise! What a terrific view! And the back area is an oasis by the dipping pool that provides a water song all day and night. It is private and cooler there in the afternoon. All in all, in spite of the stairway to the entrance from the garage, it is a nice place to stay.
We have rented different locations in Fountain Hills for 13 years. This property was in the top 3.
Unlike many units, the furnishings were great! The beds were comfortable and like new. The kitchen appliances and accessories were newer and in working order. We will try to rent again next year.
The views from the deck were spectacular, different from other years, but SPECTACULAR!
The only drawback for us was climbing the stairs from the garage to the living area. Regardless, we loved this unit.
Fountain Hills is a quiet, quaint upscale community in the NE Phoenix Valley. Several nearby golf courses. The town fountain goes off for 15 minutes on the hour, and shoots water 600 ft in the air -- one of the larger fountains in the world. A walking trail around the fountain is perfect for morning exercise or an evening stroll. It is a 10 minute walk from the house. The immediate neighborhood is mostly single family homes.
