About Sandra

I live in another apartment in the same property

Why Sandra chose Santo Spirito

I like meeting people from different countries and I want to keep this family house.

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment is part of a bigger property mainly built in the 18th and 19th centuries. Even though it is located in the city centre, it is isolated enough to make you feel far from the madding crowd

Beautiful spot with a 'home away from home' feel.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here during early April and found it to be a wonderful base for exploring the beauty and culture of Florence.

The apartment is a lovely spot, sat just outside the city centre but still within walking distance of all the main sights and locations - 10 minutes to Santa Croce, Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi and Piazza della Signoria, 15-20 minutes to the Duomo, 25-30 minutes to Santa Maria Novella or Mercato Centrale. It is also in a lively, yet quiet, neighbourhood a stone's throw away from some great places to eat, drink and relax, as well as a short distance from the beautiful views of Piazalle Michaelangelo and San Miniato al Monte church and abbey.

It is a place that will make you feel less like a tourist and more like a local. We settled in quickly thanks to Sandra's warm, welcoming hospitality, the spacious, well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. One the one day of good weather, in an unusually rainy week, we thoroughly enjoyed having lunch out on the terrace balcony, and the garden is beautiful.

The place itself is spacious, with plenty of windows letting in a lot of light but also great blinds for if the sun gets too intense. It was cool when it was warm, warm when it was chilly and had all the space, storage and amenities you might need.

As an unashamed foodie the kitchen was a great asset to this place, with a gas hob with 4 burners, a good oven and many useful tools and instruments provided. Given the quality of Tuscan produce I found myself cooking here more than dining out!

I cannot sing the praises of this place enough, and as with so much of our experience in Florence, the worst part of it was having to leave!

Thank you, Sandra, for a wonderful stay and I hope we can come back again soon.

Fabulous Location; Great Hostess

  • 5 of 5

Sandra. We had a terrific stay at your home. Thank you for your personal welcome to your very nice apartment with a great overview of the features of your home, directions for the city, and an added "treat" of wine. Best of all, we loved the location of your place - so close to the City gate. Other than a 20-Euro taxi to/from the train station, we could easily walk everywhere to the museums and sites. It was perfect! Thank you. Greg and Linda and Mike and Christine.

A wonderful place in Florence

  • 5 of 5

Sandra's place was a perfect setting for our family of 5 in Florence. The apartment is large enough that we could spread out a little and relax. She was having internet issues, but I think those would be remedied when her relative returned from a trip to share the new password. We found a great pizza place within a few blocks and the little bar 1 block away had great pastries for our breakfast each day. The area the apartment is in is very pretty and there is an overlook very close by where you can see the whole city. Sandra was very kind and always available to answer questions. We would stay with her again!

Cozy and lovely apartment

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time exploring Florence and the surrounding area from this apartment. Located across the river from the Santa Croce church, it was the perfect place to start each day with a short walk to view the Ponte Vecchio bridge. Many nearby restaurants to choose from.

A very clean and comfortable location with a great host who provided an overview of the area. Sandra was very welcoming and my youngest enjoyed meeting her sweet dog. The apartment had all the amenities to cook a good meal as well.

Thank you Sandra for a wonderful Christmas apartment.

Really lovely place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Sandra was a wonderful host. The apartment is spacious, well furnished and comfortable and the garden is lovely. The location is great, with a good and very frequent bus service to the centre if you don't want to walk. The local area is close to the Arno, and very attractive with good facilities, but not at all noisy. We could not have found a better place to stay for our week in wonderful Florence.

Perfect Location. Great Space!

  • 4 of 5

This apartment is right at the end of Via dei Bastioni and exactly by San Niccolo. It could not be a better spot for visiting Florence. The apartment is spacious and well-equipped. There were some problems with the Internet that Sandra tried to fix but it is pretty weak. The outdoor space is incredible with a raised patio and her Garden is beautiful. I rated a four instead of a five only because the house is a little bit of dark and chilly plus the internet issues. Sandra did adjust the heat for me and she was so kind and talkative. The bed was very comfortable.

Owner's Response: I enjoyed Karen' s company and I' m very sorry for the problems with the Internet which, fortunately, the majority of my guests don't have. As for the dark, that was because the blinds of the 4 big windows were left half closed. Usually, the problem is the opposite: if you have the windows wide-open, in summer there is too much sun. In Florence the heating shouldn't be started until the end of October. I started it one hour in the morning and then when you asked me also in the evening . I understand that if you come from a hotter country, you can be cold if you don't have warm clothes. I'm glad you nevertheless enjoyed your stay here. I hope I'll host you again, maybe in a hotter month!

San Niccolò is a typical neighbourhood in Oltrarno with small shops, bars, restaurants and art galleries.

The house is within walking distance of the city centre and also very close to parks and gardens, such as the Rose Garden (just 50 metres) or the Carraia Garden (250 metres), ideal for children, and Piazzale Michelangelo.
