About Jill Tyler

We live an hour away and we wanted a place to take our pets on vacation with us. We love the outdoors and camp often. We decided to build a vacation home.

Jill Tyler purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Jill Tyler chose New York

A few years ago we were looking for a place that was quiet but near a lot of activities. We saw this property while we were 4wheeling and it was perfect. We will still be reserving this log cabin for a few weeks a year so we can have some fun too!

What makes this cabin unique

We loved the views from the house, the beautiful creek, the already groomed road that runs the whole length of the property. We love the outdoor fire pit and sitting around the fire at night or when it is cold the indoor wood stove.

You should know that WiFi and phone use is included.

Sanctuary in the woods!

  • 5 of 5

Three words to describe our experience: Exciting. Adventurous. Cozy.

This cabin in the woods (no relation to the movie) was exactly what we needed to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. We were a family of 7 looking for a weekend getaway, and we got way more than we bargained for.

Unlike many other cabin visits, this place is truly isolated. We met Jill, the property manager, after driving through torrential rain to find the place. They weren't kidding about losing all phone service so be prepared to look out for landmarks. Once we got there, she gave us a quick tour of our inviting home–the photos definitely don't do the place justice. It was either recently built or recently renovated, but the place was sparkling clean and all-inclusive; everything we needed was there. The outdoor deck and floor-to-ceiling living room windows offer a fantastic view of the woods and the stream/waterfalls below, the sounds of which was extremely calming. The tall windows bathe the room in plenty of sunlight.

Every utensil we needed, pots and pans, a couple of cooking items in the pantry, a wood stove with some wood, washer and dryer with detergent, an outdoor grill and campfire, comfy beds with extra bedding, and TV were there. Being an avid tea drinker, I was particularly excited about the set of tea cups and saucers made available to us.

The cabin was surrounded by the woods; one morning, we ventured down the trail on a quest to break the city-kid stereotype. The waterfalls were quite pleasant, and we saw some wildlife while there.

There is also a separate small cabin that had similar amenities minus the toilet, but was equally cozy. Another plus is that the cabin is a short drive away from Lake George–perfect to spend the afternoon, but just far enough to have your own space.

Highly recommend this place for a family trip–will definitely come back again.

It was a little hard to find, but worth it when we got there. Jill was really helpful and everything was exceptionally clean and simple.

As expected

  • 5 of 5

The property is located in a secluded area surrounded by forest and an attractive creek, which sounds lovely at night. Wood is provided for the bonfire, next to the parking area, and the central heating. There is also a gas powered large grill provided for any BBQ needs. There is a small TV included with board games and playing cards if staying in for the night.

Parking is available for three or four SUVs. The main house has been recently renovated with lovely wooden floors, a granite kitchen set and a modern bathroom which had all the necessities. There is also a servant’s quarter in the parking area which can house three persons and has a kitchen and a bathroom of its own. The property is not located far from Lake George which is a short 10 minutes drive from the property.

The house is located quarter of mile drive, on a semi gravel path, from the main road. And the only thing which was not accessible to the guests, in the main house, was the basement.

Jill, who is the property manager was quite helpful with responding to our question via e-mail and phone calls; also with the directions as to how to get to the property. Payment was processed quickly without an issue and the deposit was refunded one week after the stay which is standard.

Mountain family trip

  • 5 of 5

The main cabin was beautiful! We traveled with our toddler, infant and dog. Everything was clean, maintained and new! The views were stunning. The sound of the creek was so tranquil. Although the bugs were terrible, we still managed to enjoy the outdoors. Bugs live in nature so what are you going to do :) It was a great family weekend escape.

We also did a day trip to lake George and brought home pizza from town! Worked out great with having the kids nap in the car on the way there and back. Only about a half hour.

Jill the property manager was so responsive and easy to work with. We will visit again!

Perfection in the middle of nowhere

  • 5 of 5

This secluded cabin in the Adirondacks on 200+ acres was perfect. There was about a foot of snow on the ground when we arrived at night, with the long private road already plowed for us! During our 3 nights stay we were able to relax, explore the property alongside the river trucking trough the snow, and cozy up to the wood stove at night. It snowed one night and Jill even came the next morning to plow the driveway/private road! She was a great host, showed us everything we needed, responded quickly, and left us to ourselves to enjoy the property. The cabin had everything you needed and was CLEAN. If you're looking for a relaxing stay without any disturbance then this cabin is for you!

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

The main house is so much more beautiful than the pictures let on. It had an overall feeling of comfort and coziness. We enjoyed being immersed and surrounded by nature and being disconnected from the outside world. It was super private & really gave us the opportunity to re-connect as a family. We had 5 adults, 5 kids & 3 dogs & were all very comfortable. The property manager was great also. Looking forward to going back soon. Thank you!
