About The Owner

We love sailing and have an old wooden boat, harbored in Sweden during the winter. During spring, summer, and autumn we go out sailing for longer periods. During that time we offer our home in Iceland to people who like to travel, just like we do, for them to enjoy the comfort we offer and the vivid life of Reykjavik.

Roomy home in convenient location

  • 5 of 5

The house is on a residential street but very close to the main shopping and restaurant area. We were able to walk to everything in town and it was not difficult to get to the highways for day trips out of the city. The house itself is quite large, with two large bedrooms and one smaller one, a large living room plus a den, and a large bathroom. The garden was beautiful but unfortunately the weather (even in July!) was not conducive to sitting outside. The only drawback is that an apartment building is being constructed very close by so you do hear some construction noise during the day. A final point- the house has it is own driveway which we really appreciated because parking is tight in the city.

Beautiful home right in the Centre of Reykjavik

  • 5 of 5

It was wonderful to be able to stay in this stunning home. What made it so enjoyable was the fact that the decor and all the beautiful photos and artwork made it feel like a proper home.

The location made the experience even better. I have previously stayed at various properties and this was by far the best! Slight downside - no black out blinds so bring eye shades in summer and only one toilet but would not let that stop me returning there!

Warning to anyone wanting to travel to Iceland - it has become very expensive due to the fall in the Pound and a strong Krona so be warned!!

We arrived at our home in Reykjavik to find everything exactly as promised by our hosts.

The 3 story home was in walking distance to all sights within the city and by the time we left for home we had many "favorite" places and many new friends. We highly recommend HomeAway for your travel destinations. We have used them for several of our trips.

Oasis in the heart of Reykjavik

  • 5 of 5

As they say, location, location, location!

The property is fantastic. Parking can be difficult in Reykjavik so the driveway alone is a huge bonus. The house is within walking distance to everything.

It is happily decorated. It feels as though there are many happy memories in every room. The charm of the house is in its casual elegance, it offers such comfort you immediately relax and begin making your own memories. We are going to miss dancing in the living room as our daughter played the piano!

Finally the owners are exceptional. They were unbelievably nice, even when I had to call them at 6:00 on a Sunday morning because I locked myself out of the house!

From the airport there is a flight bus going to the bus terminal in connection with all flights. From the bur terminal there it is a five minutes drive by taxi to the house. If you rent a car at the airport, follow the signs to Reykjavik city center. Grettisgata is easy to find, it is the street above Laugarvegur, the main shopping street.

There are excellent restaurants all around or in a walking distance from the house, with good food at moderate prices. Small shops and local bars are the asset of the area, as well as galleries, museums, cinemas. Live music and theatre can easily be found at a walking distance, at Harpa the music hall, and other venues in the center. Out door swimming pools are numerous in the city and there are golf courses around the City(18 holes).
