5 bedroom, 3 bathrooms and exclusive use of outdoor swimming pool

Fantastic family house with own private pool set in rural Dordogne 200 metres from the Dordogne River. House consists of 3 double bedrooms - one with extra single bed and 2 twin rooms ideal for children. There is a large farmhouse kitchen with range cooker and plenty of space as well as an indoor dining room. The converted cow barn is now a large open plan living space with plenty of room to rest and relax and spend time with friends and family. The tobacco barn has had the sides removed to make it airy and open and provides great shelter from the hot sun and rain! The outdoor swimming pool is set against a background of open fields. Plenty of space both inside and outside for large family groups and friends! 7 bikes for all kids aged 10 and up. Table tennis and barbeque facilities. A perfect peaceful and private retreat with plenty of local activities such as water sports on the nearby Dordogne River.

About Christopher Shelley or Nicola Shelley

Chris has owned the house for over 22 years now. Bought as a wreck, it has been converted into a well loved family home over the years. The newest part is the old cow barn to the left of the house as you look at it. It is now a huge living space ideal for family groups and with tv and wi-fi if you need it! Chris has lived and worked overseas and in England over the years but always loves bringing his family and friends here. For him, it has become the perfect place to relax (although there are always a few jobs to be done!) The house has been the source of many fond memories- family parties and significant birthdays have been celebrated here - even a wedding!

It is close to the airport (40 minute drive) and the delightful town of Tremolat. The Dordogne River is at the bottom of the field in front of the house. However a short drive away are the towns of Limeuil, Lalinde and Le Bugue and Bergerac with all the shops and facilities that you would need

What makes this house unique

As the house naturally forms 2 parts it is a great place to bring 2 families. Plenty of shared communal space along with space to be on your own for a while! The newly refurnished pool has great views over the fields, interrupted only by the passing of the local train chugging in the distance. The views over the fields to the front of the property are perfect to enjoy over morning coffee or an aperitif.

Beautiful house outstanding location

One week of heaven ,Arrived in bright blue sunshine 24 degrees at end of October !. The house is visually stunning with lots of character with everything you need for a great family holiday. We made great use of the bikes and even the pool although a little chilly this time of year. The house is set in a tranquil rural location with lots to do in the local area. If you like good food, wine and markets this is the place for you. Monpaziers and Beynac a must. Highly recommend will be back.

Prix trop élevé par rapport à la qualité

Nous louons depuis 4 ans par Homelidays mais cette année à Trémolat en Dordogne, nous sommes déçus.

La maison est située au bord d'une petite route avec peu de circulation. Des champs de l'autre côté de la route donnent une vue large et vaste dont on ne peut pas vraiment profiter car on ne se tient que de l'autre côté. Ces champs donnent accès à la Dordogne le long de laquelle on peut se promener à pied ou en vélo qui sont compris dans la location. La dimension du petit jardin (pas entretenu) est vraiment insuffisante pour 10 pers par rapport à la grande surface du terrain laissé comme "terrain vague».

La maison a une belle façade et elle est propre et spacieuse. Mais, sur les 3 salles de bains, 2 sont au RC alors que les chambres sont au 1er étage et ce n’est pas pratique.

Dans la grande cuisine, les ustensiles sont insuffisants pour 10 personnes, les assiettes sont dépareillées et dans les chambres, la literie est assez quelconque. Le micro-onde est difficilement utilisable. Nous avons eu un incident avec EDF qui voulait couper le courant. Heureusement nous étions là et nous avons pu éviter la coupure!

Le voisinage était souvent bruyant avec de la musique « hard » pratiquement tous les soirs !

La piscine très agréable, est bordée par une haie d’arbres la séparant des voisins.

Close to the train station (SNCF) in Tremolat.

Local attractions include wine tours, water sports, horse riding, local markets, Castle in Beynac and caves a little further afield in Lascaux. The area of the Dordogne is ideal for those who love food and wine - so much to sample - truffles, wine, and walnuts being the immediate local specialties. The Michelin starred Vieux Logis is very close by as well as other restaurants offering hearty local fare.
