About Doerthe

We are a Spanish -German family living in Cornwall with our three young kids and dog. Apart from surfing and enjoying the beach we also like to travel and rent out our family home during these times.

Doerthe purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Doerthe chose Porthcurno

We love the Escape, it is our safe, cozy haven village from our stressful lifes. Living in Porthcurno suits our outdoorsy lifestyle perfectly. We enjoy living here wholeheartedly, going to the beach often to enjoy the stunning landscape, coastline and sea.

What makes this cottage unique

Porthcurno beach, Telegraph museum(great for a coffee with views too), Cable station pub, Beach cafe are all in walking distance (5-10 min). Walk down the main road, then turn left for Telegraph museum/beach.

There are tennis courts to hire opposite the pub too.

If you enjoy hiking you can walk up to the Minack theatre: walk down to the beach and the turn right at the last turn instead of going straight down to the beach.

During the summer shows at the Minack are best booked in advance as they can sell out quite quickly: Take some blankets/cushions, it can get quite cold up there. Outdoor blankets and cushions can be found in the cupboard next to the fridge.

Pedn Vounder beach can be accessed on the coast path towards Logan Rock (turn the first left on the footpath down to Porthcurno beach after you passed the car park) and Porthchapel beach on the coastpath in the opposite direction (for Porthchapel beach there is also a parking at St Levan church).

By car nearby beaches and coves to explore might be Lamorna cove, Porthgwarra, Sennen and Gwynver beach, Treen for Longrock. All have parking and cafes and/or pubs

The Minnack and the Telegraph museum offer activities for children during the summer and half term holidays (http://telegraphmuseum.org) .

The stunning coastpath will lead you to Logan rock (https://www.southwestcoastpath.org.uk/walksdb/204/) or the fishing cove of Portgwarra (https://www.southwestcoastpath.org.uk/walksdb/54/).

If you get bored with all this you can surf at the nearby Sennen or Gwenver beach, visit tin mines in St Just (http://www.geevor.com/index.php?object=332) or just explore the amazing surroundings.
