Like dazzling jewels, the towns of Como, Tremezzo, Menaggio, and Bellagio sparkle along the shores of Lake Como, where also glitters a hidden gem, Sala Comacina.
Here in this lakeside-idyll steeped in ancient Roman history stands Casa Matra Ponto, the ideal getaway offering space and comfort for six or romantic hideaway for two.
Free Wi-Fi is included at Matra Ponto.
Air-conditioning for your added comfort -
In northern Italy, the Mediterranean climate of Lake Como is influenced by the surrounding mountains rising to some 1000 metres above the lake surface, often with humid summer days, but with gorgeous balmy evenings (air-con being rare in Italy), with the result that the shoulder seasons of spring & autumn may be more agreeable for travelling.
With its thick walls and double-glazing Matra Ponto may be kept cooler if windows are closed and shuttered during the day; and for your added comfort we provide free-standing air conditioning to the kitchen / sitting room, and box-fans to circulate air in the bedrooms.
Casa Matra Ponto's beautifully realised rustic charm, created by combining two houses each over 300 years old, extends over three levels and is accentuated in the homely kitchen. In the upstairs bedrooms antique furnishings and quality bedding provide a restful ambiance where an additional sitting room and balcony adjoining the master bedroom offer privacy for romance.
Sheltered by the only island in Lake Como 'Isola Comacina', Sala as the village is known locally - the 'salon' of the lake, enjoys a unique sun-drenched micro-climate. Here you are invited to enjoy village life with every convenience close at hand: freshly baked bread daily, artisan butcher, groceries, café/bar, local tavern, fine dining choices, water taxi and boat connections, local bus service, bank/Bancomat, newsagent, post office, and village church; all within 200 metres.
Free Wi-Fi is also available in the village at the Enoteca Le Tout Paris adjacent to Amalia's bakery, and at Cimino's Bar Sport near the bank with ATM/Bancomat.
Free parking is available in the village precinct.
Check-in and Check-out times are usually flexible, unless change-over days overlap between guests. In that case, check-out is at 10am and check-in is at 4pm.
We'll welcome you to the apartment for the check-in and for the check-out to exchange the keys, view the apartment, provide information about the area and answer your questions.
Chat with the neighbours; enjoy an 'aperitivo'; relax with a coffee in the square; swim at the beach; take a boat to explore the island or cross to Bellagio; visit Como or Menaggio, hike to Switzerland, or simply plan another lazy day enjoying what Sala and Matra Ponto have to offer.
You can make secure on-line payments for Deposit and Final Payment via PayPal by bank transfer (T/T) or with a Credit Card.

Wendy Gallina purchased this house in 2007
Stunning location, impeccably presented, spacious house, surrounded by very friendly locals - we loved our time in Sala Comacina and would go back there in an instant.
We hit the jackpot having Wendy as our host! We felt totally spoilt by her, we were introduced to local people and given great advice on places to visit and how to explore this amazing part of the world. There are several restaurant choices within a 5 minute walk as well as the local ferry stop. The bus trip to the house is slightly hair raising, but once Wendy "captured" us off the bus we began to relax and enjoy the beautifully decorated and equipped house and all that Lake Como has to offer. It was the highlight of our Italian sojourn.
